Okay we heard from Coyote - now its Raven and Bald Eagles turn.
This is apparently an episode from a Canandian TV show which seems to have all but disappeared (save for this and one other episode on youtube) - which is really a shame.
Anyways enjoy!

Re: Raven Tales: Bald Eagle
Tue, September 1, 2009 - 2:04 PMSlow, only tried it once thus far - we are meeting again this Sunday, but it is going to be more a "buissness" meeting where we have been asked to conduct a service to honor the ancestors at the end of October and so we have to begin planing that which means our other activities will be on hold a little bit.
But the first try at it went well though there were only 3 of us, i think it will take them a bit to catch onto the idea. . . but that is as expected. I will try it again a soon as I can - I wish to incorporate a little more basic ceremony just as a trigger device to get people in the right state of mind at first. So, I'll continue to experiment (sometime this group is a little challenging to work with in introducing new ideas, but their catching on). -

Re: Raven Tales: Bald Eagle
Wed, September 9, 2009 - 6:26 PMI wonder reading this about how we attach to some creatures more than others, and sometimes give more significance to some and less to others. I wonder if the ancestor stories were a way to speak about living in harmony with the natural world and so they used the characteristics of some animal to illustrate that. Maybe some stories were spirit tales received in a vision or ceremony and differed from teaching stories that were insightful learning from studying the ways of creatures in the world being shared to benefit the community.
As a kid I always wanted to be the fire breathing dragon when we fought our mock battles, and no one picking a persona said, "I'm the mouse warrior", if you know what I mean. Maybe in some way every manifestation is absolutely essential and has something to teach us, weather through observation or in spirit some how.

Re: Raven Tales: Bald Eagle
Tue, September 8, 2009 - 5:50 PMIs it only me, or does it bother anyone else here that the Great Spirit was depicted in human form? I know that he/she had to be depicted in some form, and no I do not have something else specifically in mind, but I'm a little disappointed that the human form was used. I'm tired of being in a world where human beings have so much rank over all of the other beings.
Other than that I thought it was nicely done. -

Thu, September 10, 2009 - 1:28 PMCacatua; I too had the same feelings about the anthropomorphism of the great spirit. But considering you do not often see programing of this nature on television . . . . -

Re: Raven Tales: Bald Eagle
Thu, September 10, 2009 - 9:14 PMi asked, cause i on occasion, run into an oto (lodge) monitor (they monitor me, i must be a creature of intrest) here in town, and he puts his version of juju out on me. Well lately, i have been having phenomenal energy, personally. When he does this, its just the silly nubbins feeling, nothing to worry about. but the other evening, i was on a peach kombucha mission (successful), and i unexpectedly passed by him, and he was in his usual dour mood, but my energy body lost form into a very green serpent, and in a flash, without concious volition. I don't feel threatened or worried as intended, so it was 'observationally' intresting to see that happen. i guess serpent protects my energy body or such.
i usually only lose form to crow. anyways...

Re: Raven Tales: Bald Eagle
Thu, September 10, 2009 - 9:57 PMoh yah man that sort of thing happens all the time for me... i see it happening in other people when they are not even aware of it too... that is allways really interesting to me to see that.
The creature teachers run the show... they make things happen in the natural spiritual world... they move and shape and guide and change that which is... i see it so often in people.. and i see it happening in dynamic exchanges often.
one time a fellow animist i would see these things happen a lot in... was a at a bar and a oold drunk started giving him shit and he turneding into a rattle snake instantly and sent all that mans venom back at him quick.. dont tred on me... style... i can pick up and embody any ones animals or medicine i tend to think that thats lizard that makes that possible.. but one evening... these ladies that where very fond of this guy wanted me to tell them about his animals totems.. so i embodied all of them in a way that showed the very sublte facets of how they work through his primary persona... shocked the hell out of them and me as well... i didnt even know you could do that!
the animal people run the show... thats for sure... and they work through us daily...
and would like to more consciously and synergisticly on our parts...
and yeahim a big guy with big nasty teethesthes... : )

yeah. i think it takes some time and letting it soften into your body, but its true. when i say crow and i, i literally mean, that crow always ends the sentence by actually being there everytime. if i get excited in a certain kind of way, the group comes. enouph that my friends are creeped out.
in reality, my body is the sky. thats why. his full name is Many Colored Crow. The rainbow is reflected from his wings. but when you realize that in the moment of relating - you really are one body - you - da crows - da sky, all one body. In african practice, it is sometimes refered to, as 'The Flash of The Spirit". anyways... -

Re: Raven Tales: Bald Eagle
Thu, September 10, 2009 - 10:34 PMsoftening the body is a good way of putting it... you have to be receptive and responsive. allowing the feelings to guide or move you... in some ways its a form of humility... walking with the spirits...
right totally you the sky you da crow i see it the same way. for me jsut establishing a relaitonship with an animal a bird a plant a stone i can embody that within... it can work through me as me with me... i get the flash of spirit... very much so.
many colored crow... well black absorbs all colors after all...
