We have a poet who lives in the woods here in Iowa, off the grid. Reading "The Spell Of The Sensuous" immediately brought him to mind. I had gotten a card a while back that he was actually putting out a DVD and a book of poetry, so I hope that he isn't getting into the written word too much. I have his forst CD, and like it very much. I think he is worth checking out. There is a YouTube interview with him at his website too:
www.joeplum.com
The website works a little slow and jerky for me until it gets loaded. If you have a faster connection it may do better. His daughter maintains it for him, as he doesn't have a computer at his place.

Thu, September 17, 2009 - 5:01 PMvery nice...
vibrations
of an ancient spirit
ancestral fiber
of the tribes
enters skillfully
by way of my feet
and flows
upward
out my eyes
in the grasp
of every waking moment
undoubtedly left
by those who sent us
to be offered up
in the speech
of the ones
who know it
is a hidden pathway
built of steps
well worth the learning
each one an open gateway
of non-returning
~ joe plum “vibrations”
that seems to work here quite well... -

Thu, September 17, 2009 - 5:43 PMSecond try:
I don't know if you watched the video, but he seems uncomfortable around outsiders, almost like a creature brought in from the woods. If his daughter Emily didn't help with the technical stuff I'm not sure he'd have any contact with the outside. -

Re: Joe Plum, bardic poet
Tue, October 6, 2009 - 2:18 PMI just got my poetry book, "Relics", and dvd from Joe Plum today, and I am blown away. I wish I could post some here but I don't want to infringe on copyright. All I can say is that it is very much worth getting. I like the bardic part, and have an appreciation for the oral tradition, but I am really grateful to have it printed as well. -

Tue, October 6, 2009 - 2:20 PMSorry about being "blown away" so much, but it really is the only descriptive term that applies. :o)
