www.newanimism.info/

it is an animist digest which brings together syndicated experts of the online animism related blogs I am aware of in to one spot. If you have or know of any blogs or web lings which are animism related and would like to see featured just email webmaster(at)newanimism(dot)info

  • ok, here's a couple questions;
    can "comments" ever be turned "ON"? or do people have to be members of those particular sites of which the stories originated from?
    and, how often would the links be updated? i mean, there's gotta be a LOT of Animism-related sites/stories out there...which means this would probably be updated with new info on like a daily basis...which would be really cool!! but sounds like such a pain on the webmaster's end. just curious!!
    • The posts are experted rss feeds from the original post - i disabled comments and made the posts experts becouse the intent is to direct the traffic to the original blogs and give them more traffic, so you have to use what ever posting system is configured on the original post - however most of them are blogspot which means if you have a google id login it will work - and some have openID configured and some even have no sign in requirements and are moderated by the blogger. I want this sight to be a doorway to these other works. There are not as many animist related stuff as you would think (as apposed to the hoards of pagan stuff which is largely hamoginized). I am always on the look out for new links to add and blogs to syndicate and provide a contribution / contact forum for people to email me if there is something they feel should be included (there own or otherwise). As for the updating of posts it is all automated by a PHP RSS aggregation script within wordpress so It mostly runs on autopilot with little intervention from me, except to add new feeds and links.
      • forgot to mention the update script runs every 3 hours.
        • Ah. nice!!
          • Here's an excerpt from something I was reading about Animism... www.theharmonyproject.org/nature.html

            THE NEW ANIMISM - In the United States, marketing analysts recently have taken note of a new target group that they have dubbed the “cultural creatives," numbering over 50 million people and growing rapidly, nearly a fifth of the American population. Artists, educators, healers, environmentalists and others concerned with the future survival of the individual and of the planet have emerged as forces to be reckoned with (and as potential markets). The women's "consciousness raising" movement, human rights organizations inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's work in India came to the U.S. in the sixties led by black leaders such as the late Rev. Martin Luther King and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the "outing" of gays and lesbians especially since the initial wave of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and the maturing of the hippie / yuppies "baby boomers," all are forces which have contributed to major changes in American society and law and form the contemporary American worldview. The "cultural creatives" are for liberal policies on major issues, but further they are concerned with global citizenship - the place of Americans in the world. The ongoing conflict between what in the sixties were called "the peaceniks" and "the hawks" emerges in the millennium with the last election as underlying concepts of open and closed societies - open liberalism versus closed conservativism.
