Would hardly call it a convergence, but a friend of mine and I celebrated on saturday night into sunday morn......had to travel all the way down into the deepest depths of Hades to rescue Persephone this year.....Hades was having none of it, he doesn't seem to let go all that easy, but sure enough, you step back, let the wheel go round and round of it's own free volition, while you observe and participate at the same time......and VOILA! Persephone rises again.....like she always does.

An old friend formally introduced himself too this solstice. Been running into this local trickster character for a few years, never knowing quite what to make of him. I always forget to leave a space at the table for trickster, and needless to say, that's not quite to his liking. It took me three winter solstices in a row here to realize that this is his time....He always shows up and wreaks havoc on my world around this time of year, and only know am I becoming keen enough to understand the necessary albeit occassionally painful relationship I must have with this presence......Well, at least now I know his name, know his modus operandi.....

Next year I'm setting an extra plate at the table for him.....hopefully that way he'll just throw some mashed potatoes around the room instead of shuffling all the energies in my life.....sucks when that happens......you know, sucks in a good way, but still sucks....lol....

I guess this is the process of forming relationships. It sure as shit don't happen over-night, and you damn sure better get it right, cause persons (human and other-than) are finicky about how you treat them.....Next year trickster, next year........

We usually spend this time at the Confederacy Gathering, wherever that is...we couldn't make it this year, due to scheduling/program upsets, etc...

we had our own family ceremony, in which of course we had as many bioregional/ancestral foods, as we could, we did some teachings with the kids, drumming and singing, and we cleansed our sacred objects and feathers and asked for continued blessings up on them. In general it was a time to awaken, renew, and celebrate the replenishment of life.

During the ceremony, my daughter had a vision, in which she saw a herd of buffalo...all brown with the one white one. Without giving her vision away .... apparently it is her time to dig deeper and embrace her ancestral teaching to a greater degree.
