Through my continuous contemplation with nature, i find when i truly open my heart to the "wildness of the world", an energy flows back deep inside me, i feel it flow up into me and out back into the world as i breath, breathing it in, deeply cooling and reviving the parts of my lungs i keep held tight, and when i begin to read the sacred texts of life written on bark of trees and on the backs of stones. i feel this energy of the world and it shows me how to grow in harmony and to embrace the whole, to sit upright. this is a true way of casting a light, for i find nature does not lie....

Tue, July 21, 2009 - 1:48 AMWell said, Mu-raka.
I love impressive vistas and glowing sunsets, but when I really get disconnected from my own life, I get down on my hands and knees and spend an hour or so taking a "hundred inch hike".
A magnifying glass not only illuminates those tiny miracles that slip under my radar ... it also illuminates the context of my life.

yeah that's a nice way to put it. thanks for evoking!
one of the most overwhelming experiences (overwhelming in a good way!) of this happened while driving through the shenandoah mountains during winter. It was foggy and grey and mist was swirling around bare trees and mountains. I can't say why it happened in that moment but I stopped and got out of the car I was driving. I looked around and realized that the earth was breathing and then suddenly i was breathing the earth and the earth was breathing me. I haven't thought about that moment for a long long time. Thanks Mu'raka for stirring the memory.

Re: falling in love outward
Mon, August 10, 2009 - 7:29 AMOh yes! Oh yes! When I am with my beloved trees, I sometimes feel enraptured in a way that makes me think of the Christian mystics or the great Sufi poets. In love with that which is not human. Cynthia says that she felt nature breathing. That was also my breakthrough experience. A day of misty rain, typical of upstate NY, looking across a field at the line of trees, suddenly seeing them breathe, then feeling the earth breathing under my feet. And the "hundred inch hike!" Yes! I know that, too. In the past, I have felt guilty and eccentric for spending hours just watching ants climb over pine needles . . . now I will let those feelings go and just enjoy my time with the nonhumans that I love. -

Re: falling in love outward
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 4:07 PMAnyone ever have any interesting erotic bioregional animist experiences? Heehee....seems like a fun topic!
I just thought of it cause a lot of Sufi poetry is really erotic in it's overtones, even though arguably they're usually talking about divine love, there's many levels there nonetheless......

Re: falling in love outward
Wed, August 12, 2009 - 5:36 AMI just know that when Rumi gushes about the "beloved" I understand what he's talking about. And those brides of Christ really did experience divine ecstasy . . . not some bible-ized charitas. They called it "rapture" after all. And when John Donne writes "Take me to you, imprison me, for I Except you enthrall me, never shall be free, Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me," is using frankly sexual imagery to express his relationship to his god.
We've become so knee-jerk negative in our reaction to anything sexual, that we ignore the flowers' musk as they make love to the bees and can't see the joyful sexual orgy going on around us all summer long! The goldfinches play in threesomes. Those trees wrap limbs around one another with abandon. Every living thing drips, gushes, embraces, intertwines, rubs, tastes . . .
So, anyway (ahem) like fishbowl, it's there for me, but I'm too shy to talk any more about it . . . for now, anyway!

Re: falling in love outward
Wed, August 12, 2009 - 2:37 PMWow Puny, I'm gettin' all hot and bothered over here! ;)
But you're totally right, nature is crazy erotic, just all sorts of fucking and showing off colors and loving and entwining and all sorts of good stuff happening everywhere. Hell, flowers are just big ol' bright genitals waving in the sun for all to look at and love, and we lift them to our noses and take deep wiffs of their sex spunk!!!!! Hahahahahhahahahahaa, gotta love it.
Though I haven't really had any deep erotic experiences per se with Other-than's (or OTH's as I like to refer to them), but I have been in ceremony and have had crazy non-sexual (or non-genital to be clearer) orgasms that just rock your world for prolonged times.....ah-hem....
Uuuuh, yeah. Intense stuff.
The first time that happened when I came back the only thing I could say (for a good long while) was "Satcitananda"........
The wikipedia definition of that one:
"Saccidānanda, Satchidananda, or Sat-cit-ānanda (Sanskrit: सच्चिदानंद) is a compound of three Sanskrit words, Sat (सत्), Cit (चित्), and Ānanda (आनंद) (the ā is of longer vocal length), meaning existence, consciousness, and bliss respectively. The expression is used in yoga and other schools of Indian philosophy to describe the nature of Brahman as experienced by a fully liberated yogi."
Gotta love a word that describes existence, consciousness and bliss all together, lol.
This is pretty cool too:
Ever hear of the ecstacy of Saint Teresa:

Re: falling in love outward
Fri, August 14, 2009 - 1:13 PMYou're so right- almost all of nature in the growing, living, dying forms is related to sex and/or death (take that, neo-victorian prim gardeners!) There's nothing that gets the juices flowing better than being and living outdoors and being in touch with all that force that through the green fuse drives the flower! (I know plenty of people feel hornier when camping, whether they're aware of why is immaterial.) I've had plenty of erotic experiences IN nature, but from it? Hm. I would say eating ripe berries fresh from the bush is erotic, but that may not be what you really mean. Definitely had a few spiritual orgasms, so to speak, moments of bliss and oneness that gave me the same approximate feeling of a sexual orgasm- same blood rush to the skin, tingly nipples and feeling of relaxed, yet exstatic uniting with something other. But nothing with other beings that I could discern. -

Re: falling in love outward
Fri, August 14, 2009 - 3:36 PMyup, i'm hornier in Nature. and having sex outside is soooo much better results than inside; at least for me. and sometimes just meditating will raise my libido. i worked once on a brew for a friend who needed some self love. i used/worked with many ingredients in a pot of apple juice that gave me amazing, yet individual experiences:
Cinnamon: Butterfly feelings of new beginnings. utterly stupid and giddy and totally wonderful
Red Rose: Deep friendship. Companionship. "The Other"
Pink Rose: Passionate, lustful, heavy breathing, knowing my secret spot, holy crap!!
and Basil: content. calm, and friendly. happy and introverted. silently lonely and expressfully blissful.
this was such the amazing experience for me as i had not (at that time) experienced these feelings in real life before with anyone, much less myself. because of this experience, these four and i...we're good friends! ;) -

Fri, August 14, 2009 - 4:45 PMWoods = Horny - yeah I get funny erges in the woods alone - that is all I am going to say. ;)
It is interesting though that in many European narratives and pantheons gods of sexuality and fertility are often closely associated with wild places.
I feel "Pan" like when I have my private frolics in the woods.

I'm hoping to go up to Sloquet Hotsprings in the next week or 2. It's near Harrison Hot springs, just way back in the bush nowhere near a hotel. There's just nothing like a hot spring..magic and marvelously human, divine and delicious. I want to go right now! -

Tue, September 8, 2009 - 6:04 PMI too love the messages written in tree bark and in the old oaken spars that have the soft wood weathered away, leaving the record of the original life force bare to anyone who looks. I also love to see the mossy little worlds on banks along springs and feel like I will never be totally happy or whole until the day comes when I go back to become one with them again.
Thank you for the beautiful thread, Mu-raka. -

For me it was drifting in the river one time. High canyon walls on either side, hot dry desert air, the river deep and slow and strong with me out in the center just totally relaxed and enthralled by the way it held me and carried me along. All the elements, the foundational earth, the cool water, the vast sky above and the fire of the sun. I was so clearly not leading, but just gloriously along for the ride.

Re: falling in love outward
Wed, September 9, 2009 - 4:44 AMFrom the book How to Worship the Goddess and Keep Your Balls
Eyes Open: To See and Be Seen
Making love with our eyes open allows us to see and be seen. In some ways this can be the ultimate mirror in our relationship.
Psychologically, opening our eyes allows us to hold space both for ourselves and for our lovemaking. When we stare at our partner we have nowhere to hide. With open eyes we cannot hide in our sexual fantasies or the titillation of our shadow. To open to a partner while climaxing can be frightening, but it can also be deeply rewarding.
Opening our eyes while making love also allows for numerous energetic possibilities. From the perspective of Chinese medicine our Shen Spirit (mind) opens from the heart and shines through the eyes. When we raise our fiery erotic energy up our spine (as in Small Heavenly Circuit) while making love, we bring our Jing Essence up to enhance the illumination of our Shen Spirit.
From a more Western perspective, we can use eye gazing as a way to connect with the erotic magnetism in all life. This was called magnetation by John William Lloyd, one of the founders of the prosexual Karezza movement of the 19th century.
John Lloyd referenced the ubiquity of life to demonstrate that sexuality is everywhere and always around us; we only need to plug into it. The planet is covered with DNA that is continually reproducing. Our bodies are covered with bacteria that are continually reproducing. The cells in our bodies are continually reproducing. The plants outside our window are reproducing. This is the ground of existence from which our species emerged. We exist in an erotic electromagnetic ocean that permeates our environment and our being. When we engage in eye gazing magnetation we allow the energy generated by our lovemaking to expand and link with the energy of life that embraces our planet.
