Hunting 101
Written from a girl's personal experience!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things you need when you go hunting:
Some sort of weapon (preferably a gun)
A knife to clean the animal you kill
If you go turkey hunting, bring a brown bag to carry your turkey in if you get one, just in case another hunter sees the turkey beard -- he might shoot at you.
Camo (camouflage) to wear so the animals can't see you coming.
A tent in case you are staying overnight.
Food in case you don't catch anything
An animal call like a turkey or deer call (to call the animal you are hunting.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rules of Hunting:
Ask the person that owns the forest that you are going to hunt in if you can hunt on his land.
NEVER DRINK ALCOHOL BEFORE HUNTING!
Take a hunter's safety course so you can get your hunter's permit.
Never hunt on private land, or land that has purple marks on its trees.
Unless you're going bird hunting, never take a dog with you.
Never leave a dead animal lying in the woods.
Never sport hunt, because you would have taken a life that didn't need to die.
NEVER POACH EITHER!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step-by-Step Hunting:
Find a place to hunt (preferably the woods)
Find a tree or bush to hide behind while you hunt..
Take your call out of your bag and blow gently into it to make the sound of the animal com out.
Sit and wait until the animal you want comes along.
Take your weapon out.
Load your weapon.
Aim your weapon.
Shoot your weapon.
Look to see if you shot your animal.
If you killed it, go clean it. (By cleaning it I mean taking out its guts and its heart and cutting off its head.)
Put your animal in your bag and carry it to your vehicle.
Drive your vehicle home and cook and eat your animal.
