the Dance Parade begins at like, one, and although I have been warned that they are about as organized as a disheveled upturned beehive, I think the crew from DWP [ Dance Warrior Project ] is gonna rep a lil somethin. you might find us up on top of a truck dancin for a second, and there's a chance that I maaaay end up popping over to the COSM float and singin a lil somethin with Pedro dj'in.. we shall see..

although the parade keeps goin down from 34th? to Washington Square Park, DWP has to jet four thirtiesh to get up to harlem for my second performance of the day.. harlemstage.org
DWP is opening the show at 7:30 sharp, it's the last one [ we've done two this is the third and last ] adn because it's the final show of this series, we're gonna go OFF! come out if you wanna catch some of what I do in this dance company.

after THAT: the official Dance Parade After-Party is being held at good ole Club Element, current home of Sub-Swara
Freek Factory Live Set [ Me on vocals, Spiro on strings, Haj on wheels ] will be dropping our delicious right around midnight'ish
    YESSS! sweetness fuh dat

    and lastly, after THAT:
COSM around four in the morning, dj Pedro will be going on, and I will be going on with him to sing a lil somethin or three. we been in the lab, me, he, and a partner of his from Brazil Fraggi (sp?) and we're gonna work a few of those out for ya'll.

SO.. if you're around for ANY of that, come check it.

The Baisley Powell Elebash Endowment presents
Women Innovators in Afro-Caribbean Music & Dance
      March 12, 2007, 7:30pm

In celebration of Women's History Month, City of the World begins their season with a staging of
two groups presenting female perspectives in music and dance of the Caribbean.

The evening commences with Yaya performing the music and dance of Afro-Puerto Rican bomba.
The all-female ensemble sets them self apart from other New York City bomba groups with their
beautiful vocal harmonies and emphasis on songs that honor women. Awilda Sterling-Duprey,
a long time creative force of Afro-Caribbean dance in New York City, will perform with Yaya as an honored guest.

      I roll wit deeeez:
Ase Dance Theater Collective will conclude the evening with a variety of high energy,
original folkloric dance pieces inspired by African influenced traditions spanning both
Haiti (rara) and Puerto Rico (bomba & plena). The pieces highlight a contemporary
female perspective, through the eyes of choreographers Adia Whitaker and Mara Rivera,
with a focus on strong women characters.
