Through a set of events I discovered Finntroll last night. Ordered two disks (used.) Don't know if I'd be much of an active member here, since I'm pretty ignorant and I don't know if I'll ever be much of a metalhead. (Accordions led me here, fwiw.) But tribe.net has had some bad times, so I don't know how long I'll want to be in a tribe that's only active once every six months.
So, here I am.
So, here I am.

Re: Anybody Here?
Fri, August 21, 2009 - 12:32 PMI'm here, too. But it's it's been quiet for quite some time. I thought I was the only person.
Finntroll totally rocks!
Also try: Korpiklaani, Manegarm, Alestorm
The others I listed are also classified as "folk metal", but they do not use accordions, as far as I know. Other random folk instruments – if a keytar (Alestorm) can be considered folk. In the music it sounds like it could be an accordion. Strings are common, folk flutes, etc. -

Re: Anybody Here?
Fri, August 21, 2009 - 12:42 PMYeah, Alestorm was on my list--pretty much because of the name. I sort of preview them on youtube to see if i want to spend actual money. I'll probably dawdle a bit, because I have trouble digesting too much new stimulus at once. Except with books. With books I get bored too easily. Anyway, nice to know this isn't an echo chamber, and thanks for the recommendations. -

Re: Anybody Here?
Fri, August 21, 2009 - 1:58 PMI love folk metal as much as I also love Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir and Vreid… so if you come across some other folk metal, don't be afraid to share.
