Hey y'all! I'm relatively new to the SCA and looking forward to my first Pennsic. I was with another group down South, and I was wondering what kind of LGBT community was active in the SCA. So here I am. I'm a breeder, but most of my LH friends have been LGBT. Many of them (and I) attended under a period standard that had a small black triangle within a pink triangle inside of matte rainbow-toned circle somewhere on it, to reflect the activism we did outside of the organization that tied us all together. I'm curious if errant straights have some kind of symbol they wear to mark their support for the LGBT community in the SCA?

Re: New to the SCA
Thu, June 21, 2007 - 7:13 PMJustin,
Welcome to the Society. I hope it brings you a lifetime of fulfilling and unique experiences. Might I invite you to the clan blue feather web page at www.bluefeather.org, and also to our campfire this Pennsic? It is an open fire and is the best way to get to know the clan at Pennsic. I suggest in particular the "About" page on the website which has answers to your question about symbols you asked in your post. Of course if you have further inquiries, feel free to post.
Yours in service,

Re: New to the SCA
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 1:11 PMRock, Genjiro! I'll definitely make it by the campsite. Where do y'all camp? I know my good friend Master Phillip White is involved in organizing the bluefeather ball, so I'm sure I'll make it that way for the event. Thank for the warm welcome :) -

Re: New to the SCA
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 2:15 PMcome down and say hello at Vlads Pleasure Pavillions as well. There are several of us there who are bluefeathers even though we don't actually campin Blue Feather. I will actually be trying ot make sure my happy ass gets to the Blue Feather Ball this year....and since it seems like it's not going to be directly oppI am feeling osite the Inquisition Masquerade we host down at Vlads so things will be worlds easier.
How are you finding yourinitial experiences withinthe SCA so far? All pleasant I hope. What Kingdom/barony are you part of? Do you have alot of involvement on the local level? ok....time for me to go back to my sewing and my quad grande latte..........I am feeling the caffine level start to ebb so time to recharge! -

Re: New to the SCA - Over a year later
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 4:20 PMI'm feeling pretty enculturated at this point! I was awarded my AoA at Maidens in January, just before 12th night. I'm part of the former Province of Tree Girt Sea, future canton of the Incipient Barony of Ayreton. We're moving to a Barony with 4 other Chicagoland groups.
So far I'm loving my participation in the SCA. I fight heavy, act as chronicler of a nascent brewing guild and write a quarterly beer and mead column in our local newsletter. I'm learning to sew and getting into archery, and soon I hope I'll be learning the basics of leather work from a local laurel. I think they've found a lifer in me. This year will be my first Pennsic, and I'm beside myself with anticipation. I just bought a two-bedroom tent with a screen porch in the front, and I just can't wait to have friends over and share homebrew.
I'll definitely make sure to stop by Vlad's, and I'll be bringing some of my mead if I can get it all bottled before the war!
