good inexpensive slide guitar

I want to hit ebay and the pawn shops for a decent electric guitar and put a slide nut on it so that it can be an exclusively slide guitar. I was thinking an Epiphone or Ibanez hollow body might be good, but I really don't know. Under $200. What do y'all think?

There are number of ATTENUATORS out there. To mention a few: Hot Plate, Marshall, Dr.Z Airbreak, Ultimate Attenuater....
Some vintage too...

Which is the best to date? I believe, it should NOT AFFECT YOUR TONE, BE USEFUL AT HOME AND ON STAGE, USED WITH VARIETY OF AMPLIFIERS AND CABINETS WITHOUT MODIFICATIONS.... What else?

Do you own (know) attenuator which is close to being THE BEST? Do you know (own) attenuator which iIS THE BEST?
Question for the group

First, I'd like to welcome the new members to this group. I'm going to make an attempt to get back into this with a question first:
If you had one piece of setup equipment that you would suggest to others what would it be? Not the basics like guitar, keyboard, amps, cords, computer unless you want to go there.

My old cat pissed on my Zoom multi-effects pedals (which was OK, the pedal, that is) and I haven't had another since relying heavily on software like Cubase and similar software to make my recordings (which is my main music choice this day - record music).
My choice (boring) would be my Behringer 8 channel mixer to interface with my PC computer (kind of basic choice). Not very exciting. Maybe that will change. I have a MXR compressor which is fine for live playing but hums to much to use in recording. I guess if I got into playing live more I would consider another multi-effects pedal. Any suggestions? That's it for now.
Also, please feel free to ask questions to others in the group that maybe more knowledgeable than me (very likely).

I've been playing the electric guitar since 1962 and have had a lot of amps. Right now I have a 1980 Peavey bass combo for bass - which is an okay amp but I've played a lot better. I'm just using a small digital crate 40w for guitar which I mic if playing live. Again, this is an okay amp but I'm sure there are a lot of very cool amps out there. The biggest amp I've ever owned was a Vox RoyalGuardsman - one size smaller than the famous Super Beatle which was quite popular in the mid 60's. Can you suggest any good small amps and also amplifiers for larger venues?

Mixing Vocals and Mixed song

Situation - Just tracked some vocals (engineered for a buddy of mine) for a song that was already mixed down - drums, bass, guitar, chorus vocals. All tracks are stereo (new vocals, as well as the stereo mix of the song - music/chorus vocals).

After the tracking, we adjusted some levels to make it sound "decent", but I guess I want to find out if anyone has tried mixing all this and making it sound good. ie.. any steps or hints or processes that you have actually done mixing a song such as this.

I know many of you have some sophisticated recording setups. Mine is fairly simple at the moment using a PC, a small behringer mixer, and a veriety of PC audio software like Acid Pro, Cubase, Sound Forge, Reason and Live. I also use a Fostex mr8hd so I can record 4 tracks at once simultaneously. I'd like to talk about the software and hardware you use for recording.

What do you all use for stomp boxes or effects now or in the past? I started playing in the early to mid 60's and what I used in those early bands with a Vox tone bender (fuzz tone) and a Vox treble booster sent to a Vox Royalguardsman amp. The vox amp was pretty high end for those days and had some pretty nice tone effects built in that I used also. I haven't been into a lot of pedals over the years. I had a Zoom 505 multi-effects pedals for years until recently when my cat pissed on it. It had some okay effects. Besides my recent MXR compression pedal the only other pedal I have is an old Morley wah. I've been using a small Crate amp with digital effects - which some are useful. I'd like to know what else is out there that you really like and what it does.
Oh, I have had access to a number of racks like digital delay, etc in various bands I've been in over the last couple of decades. Our drummer ran a music store.

I'm starting here with a compression pedal as I just was given one by my daughters for Father's Day. It's an MXR Dyna Comp. I haven't had much time to play it yet but I did notice some hum at high volumes. Anybody have or tried one of these babies? I'll talk more about it after I play with it for a bit. I'd sure like to know what you all think about compression gear for the guitar.

Well, this was formerly a blues guitarist tribe but I decided I'd like to do this music gear tribe more, so here it is. I've been playing it seems like forever being in rock bands in the early sixties and a wide variety of bands since. I'll talk more about my guitars, my effects, amplifiers, recording equipment soon. I've been around so long that I actually made it to Woodstock 69.
