Blue Turtles helping Sea Turtles!!

We are pleased to announce that Blue Turtle Seduction has been asked to play a benefit show to help sea turtles all over the world!!

The Sea Turtle Restoration Project is an organization dedicated to helping all species of sea turtles worldwide. From helping to pass laws and bans against certain commercial fisheries that kill sea turtles for no reason to protecting their nests on beaches that are threatened by poaching, prey, or human interactions.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Sea Turtle Restoration Project. They are throwing a Big Splash Bash at the David Brower Center in Berkeley. They wanted Blue Turtle Seduction to help them shake off the 20 years of hard work!

Congratulations to everyone involved for making this event something very special for our sea turtle friends!

at Bobolink music festival......Fifth annual but BTS has done all 4 in the past. There will BEE a big hole to fill, we just might have to LOUD CAMP it up even more!!!

Wanna give a shout out to the Turtles for being a huge inspiration for Wood Bee shenanigans. LOUD CAMP was started pre Tortugas 06 when Kat and her kids and Mark and I wanted to make sure it was rowdier than Harvest Meltdown the year previous. Thus started the trend that bloomed at Bobolink 07. And the Wood Beez, Well, I dont think Dan Malloy would of came out to cali so fast if it wasnt for the music of BTS. Him and I created the BEez at Bobo 06 and shouted it numerous times during Turtles Tavern set. BTS has been a big inspiration for the community and all the creativity invoived! I am not surprised. The sheer creativity that the band rubs off on the fans is infectious and you will all surely bee missed in Belden this weekend. Have a great show(s) down in North Shore!! WE LOVE YOU

Chilla Vista "Setlist"

Fun time out in IV yesterday and I really enjoyed the new song and cover which happen to set the place on fire. When the turtle boyz came out of Drums and played Take Your Momma Out all the students started dancing up on the stage. Then came the pole dance (the canopy post) which was performed in front of Christian by this dude in nothing more then a G-string. Yikes, poor Christian who I had to clean his eyes out w/ bleach after to wipe away the dirt and filth. LOL. Imagine if the guys would have played Gentleman Club!! Very cool transition between Blue Foot>Roll 99 w/ a delightful Mambo in between. I said it before but I am really feeling White Flags and I feel the version they play now is how they wanted the song to go the whole time especially the percussion prelude where Adam leads w/ drums and Steve lays down some heavy notes following Glenn playing the pan flute like no Peruvian has every played before.

So the other night I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Barrel House in SF they were having a benefit for Yele Haiti, Wyclef Jean's charity. And well first off BEST DANCE PARTY EVER (liz style)!!!! He played such an awesome variety of his stuff, Bob Marley, played the guitar with his teeth, Nirvana, Men in Hats (We come from a land down under), did a hand stand, jumped into the small crowd (200 - 300 people) from atop the monitor tower, smoked my joint (then passed it back to me =) I got to dance front row center =D ... so anyways after alllll that craziness was over I grabbed a "13 Floors" drop card from Armando and I figured the best person to give it to would be his DJ/ bass player (Jerry "Wonder" Duplessias). So I went up to him and told him that this was the best dance party I've ever been in, and how I loved his variety of music and I wanted to add a CD to his collection then gave him the card and explained how it worked 'n well he was STOKED!!! Fuck YEAH!!!!
So now I'm having fantasy's about Wyclef sitting in with turtles

Blue Turtle in Chico next Friday 4/3/09

Ok you guys. I spoke to Jay and they had a great run in Oregon, their sprits are high, and I have a feeling this Chico show is going to be the most memorable they have had in Chico. They are playing two full sets with no opener. Just some good old fashion Turtle doing their thing. I really encourage you guys to try and come down to Chico. The weather is perfect; the town is beautiful this time of year. If you are planning on going to the sea of bees the next day, than perfect time to do a Turtle Run. Nevada City is and hour and 15 minutes away, there are plenty of people doing it, so let’s get the carpools going. Hope to see you guys there

Get Down Moses

After listening again to Get Down Moses on Sunday I been thinking that a segue like Get down Moses>Jungle Boogie>Get Down Moses would be sweet. I also been thinking about some thing that happen during White Flags where Adam leads Steve and Glen (Peruvian Flute) in a percussion jam. This was and is very cool and I think the guys been working on this for a while but now they really pulled it off big time.

I was OK with them taking some time off cali festivals and going to some other lands, but after Valentines day, I realise that they cannot be beat in their style and sound........sorry but NOTHING is going to replace the energy they have shelled out at 4 years of Bobolink festin. Our Very Special ValenTurtles Day Review

Theres only one way to start this review:
That was the BEST show by ANY band to EVER come to Nevada County.

It was almost religious: It was as if the sea parted and we walked the abyss to the top of the mountain.
The snow had stopped and the air was warm enough to melt the snow early, and never freeze again. During the whole evening, we didnt see a drop of rain until morning.

Cheezgeez and Julie and Darlene and I spent the day decorating. We had vague plans. It was as if the decorations went up by themselves it worked out so well. Big day glo pink hearts with sayings on them like "Pants Off Dance Off" and "Luv Tide" and "Bee Seductive" just velcroed themselves to one carpeted wall. Scotts glittery hanging hearts were pullyed up with ease to the high ceiling that is The Foundry. Gregs Large Size Green Lazer Universe with Black Light beamed in a corner. A big L Wire heart shined up a dark wall in the back while Darlenes big words for types of love were placed in all the right places. LED Christmas lights were diffused with sheer see thru material. A Big Sun tapestry lined behind the stage and when Scott brought in the large 3-D paiper Mache moon, it fit right next to the sun to create an amazing looking back drop. Johnny on the lights and this place was looking incredible!!

Friends and fans showed up from all over: San Diego, LA, SF, Redding, Reno, Sac...hunkered down at the Compound and made it early to vibe it up. It was ON. Some show in GV cancelled that night so the road was rising as we anticipated. Almost 350 paid showed up total which is great for our small town.

Ten Mile Tide warmed things up awesomely of course, so much fun and so much charisma in their songwriting and vocals. Large support for them in this community as well, all over the west. They bring the saucy vibes with a foot stompin' heart shakin' beer bath and a smootch on the face. The connections between the bands and community all fit right into place as they started out with my favorite song of theirs "Heart Beat of San Francisco" and moved on to a Jimmy Buffet cover (I think) and other memorable songs of theirs like "whiskey wine and women" and "River Sun and rain". After playing Coops a few times, this was a true Nevada county intro to the world of their muse.

After Tide, we all went outside to the parking lot to see Be On Fire's fire spinning. It was a Drama of Romeo and Juliet. Super fun Valentines day spirited craziness out on the streets of Nirvana Silly!!

When we entered for Blue Turtle Seduction, T.R.T.'s intense untzy jam instantly filled the room. WOW, was the Foundry actually sounding really good? The sound guys bass heavy structure worked wonders in the hall, and it worked better than I have ever heard in that difficult to engineer room. The trippy mountain untz sounds of BTS filled up the room very quickly and the Turtle vibe was in full effect.

Ship Out To Sea, El Camino, Rollin' 99, Haley, but what was going on here? WAIT...something truly amazing with the band, a step that I have never heard before. It was as if all the quirks and glitches were gone. Every segue and ending was smooth and gorgeous. The vocal harmonies were embracing and ear candy. I always loved BTS's quirks and odd tendancies and off vocals, but something was elevated, the vocals were strong and tickling, and no it wasnt me, Ive seen this band over 160 times, dammit, and I know my Turtle in every way. Something had reached a new peak. Ahhhhhh huge. Mark, my husband, who is extremely critical, turned to me and said "They are making me feel like Im at a big show. I cant wait to hear what they play next!!" (easy said by huge fans, but said by Mark was even more proof that something is happening with the band on another level.

Jay asked if I had a request and since the snow, all I had been singing in my head was Mountain Sol, which is an OLD one of theirs about being snowed in in Tahoe. They hadnt played it for over a year, so I said, hey, I dont expect you guys to play that tune. But, to start second set, they said, 'This ones for Sam'. In the nights Best Ever format, they played it so right on and So clean..."When the mountain is white and the suns shining bright we just might forget about all the rest, forget about all the rest, forget about all the rest..." Giggidy.
Foot By Foot, Steady Unease, Grace Tea singing/spoken word during Blue Foot which was TOTALLY TITS...Call before I Come with Jason from TMT, trying to remember the setlist, still...Encored with White Flags for Scotts Toooooooes after the audeience chanted the promoters nickname a few loudy times, he deserved it and the appreciation in the room for everyones efforts was well expressed. Especially with Scotts moms funeral that morning, the Love in the room was Stronger Than Your Usual. Unreal energy, love, and excitement left the whole night extra decadent as if it had snowed chocolate cream puffs for the last few days.

I sure am Poor McFloor lately so I gotta hit up the cheaper areas and crash familiars floors n stuff. So many great dates to Turtle it up so check em out!! Dunsimur, Reno, all kinds of regional fun. Wheeeeeeeeee!

But South Lake Tahoe’s beloved Blue Turtle Seduction lack the originality of any of the above mentioned bands on their third album, “13 Floors.”

The first song, “What’s My Name?” takes an MXPX-like riff and rides the guitar into a corny harmonica solo before jumping back on the pop-punk guitars once again. Over these instrumentals, the whole band sang simultaneously in a strange singsong manner, much like the end of an episode of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” The two-minute track could not have ended soon enough.

“Antidote” came next, but did little to remedy the lingering annoyance from the previous song. Instead, a sort of Beach-Boys-meets-Blues-Traveler ballad ensued. Violins and harmonicas kept the song from bridging into surf rock, but bouncy guitars kept the song right on edge. With an odd combination of genres, the song barely escapes blandness with a fairly entertaining guitar solo in the last minute.

“Stop Drop and Roll” is another strange combination of genres, with a blend of The Cure and Modest Mouse, plus a hint of Sublime to suffice. But the cheesy theatrics of combining such dissimilar sounds is intensified with a cliché chorus, in which vocalist Jay Seals sings, “Stop Drop and Roll/I’m doing my best not to explode.”

“Perfect Gentleman” and “Rome” follow, both equally lackluster in originality and execution.

The former begins with a sample of what sounds like a Tamagotchi before stumbling into a modern day “Kokomo” (The Beach Boys). A pseudo-rap near the end of the song plunges the nail into the coffin of this track.

“Rome,” level five of the “13 Floors,” picks up like a backyard hoedown. Southern twang, a crazy harmonica and crashing drums make this song seem better than the last. But all hopes are dashed the minute the vocals kick in. An exaggerated gruff returns to cliché with lyrics like, “There isn’t really anything left to do/ but to wander back home. / So go ahead, take a leap of faith / cause all roads lead to Rome.”

“Foot by Foot,” “Castaway,” “White Flags” and a couple more songs fill the middle of this album with more funky country rock, splicing genres and committing crimes against humanity along the way. With instrumentals almost as forgettable as the lyrics, the end of these “13 Floors” cannot be reached soon enough.

Nearing the end of the album, “El Camino” is fast-paced and mean, sounding like a Flogging Molly song but without the Irish. Of course, a song about an El Camino would not be complete without car sound effects and some Spanish lyrics.

The last song on the album, “Roses and Big Belt Buckle” is mostly a 13-minute instrumental with only a few lyrics here and there. This song by itself sums up the whole album. While a jam band is supposed to be fun and experimental, the sound of Blue Turtle Seduction is at its best when separated and focused – and without any vocals.

Strange instrumental combinations and genre copycatting plague this album all the way to its inevitable doom. In the end, “13 Floors” is just 13 too many.

Greetings everyone, we were going to try to slip by with this NYE as informal as possible, BUT enough people spoke up, and Paul of Great Basin, Shara and myself decided on a loose theme: "Retro-Formal"

Interpret as loose as you choose and choose not to use it at your own whims, but if whims come to bring it, then bring it big!

It's going to be a great NYE party, BTS and Izabella!
Tickets are $20 in advance at Great Basin or call Paul at 775-355-7711 with a credit card # to reserve tickets. Otherwise tickets are $25 at the door. I advise buying in advance cause this show can sell out.

Complimentary champagne at midnight.

For those out of towners that have not experienced the Sparks experience, come prepared; the bars never shut down and the party never ends, but if you need rest, the Silver Club provides cheap rooms two blocks away and the Nugget provides the next level up experience two blocks away as well.

Holiday Party with BTS, Delta Nove + more!

Get in the holiday spirit as Hoodathunk Entertainment presents the 4th anual Holiday Jam taking place Wednesday Dec. 17 at the Blue Cafe in downtown Long Beach, CA. A complete evening of festive decor, fun music, and very merry fans.

Headlining the night will be the new-grass rootsicana sound of S. Lake Tahoe's Blue Turtle Seduction who recently held their own festival in California, "Las Tortugas" featuring other acts such as Melvin Seals with JGB, ALO, Tea Leaf Green, and Delta Nove to name a few.

Getting things warmed up will be a special drumming performance by Long Beach's own Delta Nove, guaranteed to get your ass shaking and make you lose a couple of those extra pounds put on this time of year.

Also performing is the always all-around fun time of Mojow & the Vibration Army featuring John Whoolilurie along with his wife Moriah. If you have ever attended a festival in the west you probably have seen John and his red Radio Flyer wagon with looping pedals attached to his waist, a saxophone strapped around his neck, and a microphone in hand, along with Moriah and her platform shoes and funky dance moves parading around the grounds.

Opening the show will be Delta Nove's drummer Dominic Feedam on guitar performing his solo looping side project.

AAAHHHHHHH Blue Turtle + Nevada City + Coopers = a combination I could never miss! (unless I was at the in laws in Michigan....only one missed everrr!)

Really super duper stoked! We caught em in Auburn last week for Africa Als Bday and for a wierdo village like Auburn, the boys sure knew how to lay the vibe down no matter how shady and coppy that place is. (wierdest place I have ever seen BTS) But man they sure kicked ass, cant wait to hear them in the Middle Earth village surrounded by the Hobbits of Nirvana Silly!!!

If anyone wants to come up and needs a place to go afterwards, inquire within! Always an epic night with Scotts Tooooooooes and friends......

So many great dates coming up! Chico this week....Crystal Bay...Sparks.....gotta love Home Tour. :)

TICKETING:
- You will pick up your wristbands on-site at Evergreen. If you are over 21, please bring your ID, to get a wristband to consume alcohol. You must be present to get your wristband. - If you are staying at Evergreen, you can park on-site though there is a two car maximum per cabin. Off-site guests camping in the area or staying elsewhere but driving in should park above the lodge and walk down as there will no parking next to the lodge.

- Bring a flashlight as there will be no moon.
- Evergreen Road and all roads in Yosemite are federally patrolled. Obey speed limits. Evergreen Road is 25mph.
- No Dogs on-site. No exceptions.
- Please make sure that your wristband is visible with any costume you may create and wear.
- Be prepared for all types of weather.
- Please Carpool

OFF-SITE Campers, RV’ers, Locals:
- Please obey all signs on Evergreen Road near the lodge. There is no parking on the lodge side of the road for 200 yards above the lodge.
- Anyone parking on the side of Evergreen Road (where allowed) must be completely off of the road.
- There is NO TENT OR CAR CAMPING ALLOWED ON EVERGREEN ROAD within two hundred yards of the lodge.
- Please do not camp on Camp Mather property which is located below Evergreen Lodge on Evergreen Road
- Please cleanup all trash during and after your stay and DO NOT BUILD NEW FIREPITS. You must have a campfire permit to have a fire.
- Bears are very active. Please secure all food and coolers in cars. Never leave food and coolers unprotected.
- Showers are available in the Evergreen Bath house for $3.00. Please check-in and pay at front desk and help keep bath house clean.

Evergreen Cabin & Camping guests:
- Parking is limited on-site so cabin guests are limited to two cars per cabin. This will be enforced with parking stickers so please discuss in advance with cabin mates if you are in excess and plan accordingly. Other cars can be parked off-site after unloading.
- Please respect the no smoking/incense/candle rule in cabins or plan to pay a hefty cleaning fee. We recommend shutting deck doors to avoid smoke from drifting in and educate your guests so they don’t screw it up for you.
- Plan ahead for your cabin decorations and avoid tacks and pins and tape on paint.
- Campers arriving at night should be patient as you find a spot and unload. It is a big property with plenty of space for all. Bring a good flashlight and welcome your new neighbors!
- All guests should be BEAR SAFE. Do not leave coolers on decks, next to tents, etc..All food/coolers should be secured.

notes:
An intimate show with about 30 people in the audience for a building that would have been cramped at 50. The sound balance shifts occasionally due to band members moving around in front of their amps, changing of instruments, having amps/PAs positioned in strange places, and other anomalies. The vast majority of the sound comes from the busman source with the board tape only having bass and some vocals.

I dropped the entire encore 1db to come close to the rest of the show, and made 3 points of light compression during the encore (at the end) to avoid having to drop the show almost another 5db to get under clipping on the mixdown.

Missing from the second set is the band's air guitar cover of Tenacious D's song Tribute which was the last song at the end of the setbreak over the house PA.

Just got this note sent to me below from a sound engineer from taperssection to let me know what the guys are up to. Very sweet and can't wait to hear these sessions.

"Recording your boys BTS in my studio this week. I'll send you some sound clips of the sessions after we finish up towards the weekend. Going really well, they have cut about 6 songs all live in one room, vocals yet to come but scratch vocals are going down live. 16 inputs total. Pairs of Schoeps on the drum overheads, pairs of schoeps on the guitar and mando amps, plus mojave audio onth eguitar amp and cascade ribbon the mando amp to do each amp in stereo, one close and one away. EV on the kick, 57 on the snare, c4 on the high hat. Direct to Joe Meek compressor on the bass. Using DA& console and Nuendo to track in my log cabin studio. I know you are a big fan, they mentioned you today so thought I would say hello and let you know they are tracking in Nashville this week, for fun as much as for a EP or record. All live is the approach."

The BTS late night show in Ozark, AR got cancelled last night because the tail end of Hurricane Ike blew through town and the promoter's determined the venue would not be safe. I think they were right. Check out the photo.

Everyone's safe. The bus shook but held its ground. They had to get a tractor to help pull them out of the mud bog that built up around the bus but by this late this morning they were rolling down the highway again.

I love tribe....I hope it doesnt die.....I guess the rumors are is that nobody really knows whats happening to it. This is a site so many people can get on so many subjects in one shot!!! Burning Man, High Sierra, you guys...you name it, its probably here.

BUT, I know theres a lot to rock on the official BTS board!! I have no qualms with that board (seems to work fine for me now) but I just lack the motivation to go over there because this tribe is just so easy access.

ANYWAYs.....just thinking out loud.....I heard the Oklahoma show was awesome the other night! 175 peeps showed up. WOW!

Ok, Im sure you guys have heard of this Tioga Mobile Mart right? Well, this past weekend was unbelievable!! A mini Tortugas if you will. This gas/food mart (dare I say food mart because of the world famous and absolutely mouth watering gourmet meals) offers beer, wine, souvenirs, food, and fun all nestled at the eastern edge of Yosemite Nat'l Park.

The Turtles have been playing there for several years now and it has been a secretive gathering of tons of people in the middle of nowhere for free music!! Well, the secret is out. They played two nights this past weekend and ROCKED IT!!!! The second night had the most people ever at this summer concert series.

There is an area for camping at the top of the hill ( a short walk away from the Moblie Mart) with a great lookout of Mono Lake and the surrounding valley. The party raged on at the campsites long after the turtles amazing sets. The Trespassers and Tistrya & Friends opened for BTS both nights and were equally awesome.

Some cool perks of the Tioga Mobile Mart:

* Go in the market, get an amazing meal from the Whoa Nellie Deli, buy your booze, and walk outside to a picnic table or a grassy spot in front of the stage, and enjoy!
* Fish Tacos, Homeade Huckleberry BBQ sauce, Mango Margaritas, Lobster Taquitos, just to name a few favorites.
* Fresh, clean mountain air with a beautiful view of surrounding mountains and lakes.
* Free Music!!!
* Great service and employees. From the chef's in the kitchen to the man himself, Rob Barker, everyone was having a fantasticly fun time!
* Pure amazement. So many people were in awe at the sight of such a huge crowd (of all ages and in the middle of nowhere) getting their groove on to the turtles!!

Alright, so if I havent convinced you yet, then I give up. All I can say is next time you hear the turtles are playin at a freakin gas station, you better GO!!!!

East Coast Shout Outs!!!

As you may know, BTS is on the road again. This time they are venturing into uncharted territory. Yes, they did tour with Tea Leaf Green in the southeast a while back, but this time they are headed into the northeast and are headlining the Human Rights Awareness Tour. They are visiting a bunch of colleges and universities in NC, SC, GA, PA, and NY. They are trying to put together some last minute shows in NC, SC, GA, VA, PA, MD, DL, DC, NJ, and NY! They also played in Oklahoma City, OK and the Ozarks, AR at Mulberry Mountain Music Festival.
Their first "college tour" show went really well. Lets keep em comin!!!

This is our chance to tell our friends and family out there on the east coast to go support the turtles. Please spread the word, send out those emails, call those friends you've been meaning to catch up with, and get them to the shows!!

Lets spread nationwide the love we have for Blue Turtle Seduction.

So I have been making my rounds on High Sierra message boards, and now Im finally FINALLY coming home home to Turtle Land of the Durfie Teds. WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!

BLUE TURTLE PUNK ROCKED HIGH SIERRA! What a fucking dream come true for me!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH BTS!!!!!
I was overwhelmed with joy hearing the Misfits and the Clash for late nite, and Ramones on the Big Meadow.
Both shows were awesome sauceome !!

I have to say that there is only a small portion of the HSMF community that posts on message boards and is on tribe.
There was SO MUCH stoke for Turtle after taht late nite it was off the hook.
I met several people in line for the shuttles on Wed. and Thur AM that I told to go to the BTS late nite.
Well, they ALL came back to me on Friday JUMPING out of their skin nin thanks that I guided them to the mosh pit of love.
THere were a large amount of new fans made this year at the best fest ever.
I have NEVER felt the Tulsa Scott floor move so much. Shit was BOUNCING.

A huge highlight for me was the Cornmeal playshop. I went in there mid day to eat my jasmine rice lunch. When I looked on stage, I put the rice down. Not only was Christian up there with them, but Bo Carper from New MOnsoon, and the guys from RRE! Anyone who knows me knows I have a huge crush on Andy of RRE. RRE and BTS are my 2 favorite bands, and I hold Cornmeal and Monsoon close to my heart as well. I love Bo Carper. This was a swirly DREAM!!!
I slithered up front in front of the chairs and leaned down to get out of peoples way. I took about 30 pics. Seeing Christian up there warmed my soul and made me KNOW that this is where I needed to be. Christian, words cannot describe how angelic you are and dear to me.

Another amazing Turtle moment was my buddy Dylan and I were on a buddy date on Saturday night and we both had combo wristbands. We wandered thru the venues but found our home at Dumpstaphunk. Jay and Shara shared a groove out with us close to the stage. So much fun!!!

It was also great to connect with Glenns lady Carrie thruout the weekend. Seems like wherever I went she was smiling at me and making me happy.

OH YEAH, THERE WAS MUSIC!! Goodness, if there is one place on earth where feelings override MUSIC, its High Sierra. Ironically!! But yes the vibe was incredibly high as if the music wasnt beautiful enough.
I cannot get the sound of the Clash Guns of Brixton done Turtle style out of my head. I loved seeing Piglett freak out for I Wanna Bee Sedated in the front row!!! Classic!!! Tiache was superb at late nite. I was a little lost at late nite because I had so much stress carrying my stuff into camp that morning and no sleep, so I was a little shaky. Next year Im getting a vehicle pass!!
I loved the Punk ROck theme and I thank BTS for rockin it so well!! It was so unique for High Sierra, and BTS brought a part of my music world that I would of never fathomed there. FUCK YEAH!!!!! WE DO WHAT WE WANT!!!!
I still have a bunch of pins. Brian and I passed out over 200 of the pirate pins. I have about 40 more. So if anyone wants one, please PM me!

Its such a jumble, I look forward to hearing Jimmys recordings to bring it all back!!!!

Heres to the best festival ever with the best bands ever and the best wood mill ever and the best beef barn ever!!! The Wood Bees love you forever ever ever!!!!

New Monsoon headlined this last year and I was the MC and we all had a blast. My friend Roo has been putting this on for years, and its located up past Nevada City, thru the river grade (perfect time for a swim!) up by the town of North San Juan on what we call "The Ridge". Its about a 20 minute drive from town, up in the beautiful woods, easy access on one main road off of the hwy 49! We are approx. one hour north of Sacramento.
The ampitheater is really nice and a really fun place to run around. Its DEFINITELY Hornings-like! This all day event gives leeway to freaking freely and enjoying nature with your friends and great music. Alma Melodiosa ROCKS, they are from Calaveras county and have a world beat edge with gret female energy, and their music is very experimental dance with a futuristic sound. Paired with BTS is going to be a Middle Earth treat.
Inquire within about a post party in GV and a place to stay for any out of towners!

Arcata shows

BTS played 2 shows in Arcata yesterday- a free show on the plaza during the day and Humbrews that night. Despite many days of no sleep for the boys, both shows were fantastic! Didn't get the setlist from the plaza, here's the one from Humbrews (someone was taping the Humbrews show too, so hopefully it'll show up on archive soon!):

BTS in SE Asia

I am vacationing in Thailand for about a month. Currently I am staying at Big John's hostel in Bangkok and he has this wonderful roof with hammocks and tables for the patrons to enjoy. Last night there were a bunch of people up there hanging out and I brought up some tunes, namely Blue Turtle Seduction. We had people digging on them from all over the world (Senegal, Germany, Austria, Thailand, China, Nigeria, etc.). Just letting you kids know that i am getting the Blue Turtle vibe out there. Peace and love to all of you stateside.

4 Peaks

Just so y'all know, the Turtles killed it at 4 Peaks this weekend. Originally they had just one slot, Friday afternoon. But Delta Nove broke down near L.A. and couldn't make it, so BTS got a second set early evening on Saturday. Both sets were about 1 1/2 hours, and the crowd both times was seriously bouncing. Overheard numerous people mention that the Turtles were their new favorite band.

It was a small festie, so usually the crowds were not packed and lots of folks were sitting. But each time the Turtles came on, almost the entire crowd got to their feet and got their groove on!

Good Turtle family representation as well: Carolyn, Liz, Megan, Colin & Julie, plus the Izabella bunch as well and a whole bunch more folks that I'm too sleepy to remember right now.... good times.

Las Tortugas Dance of the Dead III, the annual Halloween soiree in Yosemite at Evergreen Lodge, is very pleased to announce some musical additions to an already stellar lineup. The additions include Tortugas veterans ALO, making a rare appearance in 2008. Joining ALO will be The Mother Hips, Trevor Garrod of Tea Leaf Green, Cornmeal, Flowmotion and Tracorum.
