Well here it is, even if it’s a week late

Rolled in on Wed. to a nice day (thinking it would bee all weekend-now that was dumb!) saw Big Daddy Woo and started to set up camp met a bunch of the family and Cheezegeezer rolled so it took a long time to set up due to the ritual of lights, beer, burn, flags, beer, burn, beer, sound system, beer, burn-well ya get the picture- but I did have the time –and I knew I was at home--- 
Then went to work on the new beer cooler, great purchase Woo-which worked great till that last keg-Bazaar??- Later put on the new Official Beer for Bobolink “Tangberry Almond Amber Ale” (flavors include, Almond, Tangerine, Red Raspberry,) which the staff absorbed (and yes absorbed!!!) it was a good night and I did get sleep,,,,,, Yea! Day one down.

Thurs started by the Loud camp peeps coming in and other campers and vendors shooting in –I Kicked it in the AM at the river then the lodge- after sound was set up Izzy rolled in ----and all day and night it’s that same routine for the whole fest-Beverage, Burn, Dance----(and now that’s a song title) kicked with the Izzy clan and around 4:30ish started hitting the Belgian Ales and then I introduced 5 Eyed Hand with a hella wireless mic (like 2,500.00 worth that’s why I could announce from all over the grounds) they rocked big and I forgot how good they were, I deff will see them again then set change which I met Satchi Om who is really a cool guy and gave the crowd a nice tweener set and than a intro of Izabella was happening, they went off with nice vocals and yes ‘Swilling in your bobolink rain” is the new title of my favorite Izzy song!!!! ;) can’t get them lyrics out of the mind and they played some nice covers too. They rocked a super long time then some kinda after party happened but I can’t remember after that except it was getting light-every night-
Hecka day two for me and voice holding big

Ok now Fri.
After getting up, I bee bopped off to the Main Stage and kicked it with Garrin Benfield who sounded good as a acoustic act he has a forceful unique voice, then the VIP cabin yelled at me to come and have Breakfast burritos which hit the spot YUM!
Byron Space Circus came on and were good w/more Garrin mixed in
Anthony Smith’s Trunk fulla funk –blew it out with a smooth brand of R & B and some east coast funk that was laid down hard Keyboard/Drums based music w/Anthony also being the artist at large as he sat in w/a lot of bands( On the One, Spun Monkey Patrol, ya get the picture) rockin big
And on the bee stage was Moo Got 2 who were more impressive than ASTFF as I never heard them before WOW they were damm good and laid a Constance level of there brand of “Jam based music” had every body dancing at a high energy as the weather started getting cloudy and then water started coming down through the day and night and day and night and,,,,,
The acts The Grouch & Eligh, Djunya, Illoom, Satchi Om, Random Rab, all blend together for my taste but had everybody dancing and that’s what it’s all about. On Friday I did like Random Rabs set the best and he had the most energy and best show.
Izabella’s set on the Wood Bee stage was big as they ran thru the paces of there new CD and laid down a lot of their 1st CD and some fat covers-I never heard “What’s going On” all weekend humm- , and their set break was epic as the Belgian ales started pouring and rain was coming down,
When New Monsoon hit the stage it was on an they have turned into one hell of a rock band Phil was massive and Bo was off the hook with that Banjo super phatt sound with them playing lots off the latest cd and a few oldies (still miss them Tablas) after set break I don’t remember too much as the world got a little fuzzy –other people said I turned into a weeble -ya know weebles wooble but they don’t fall down- darn Euro Ales 
Everybody said I had a good time??? And I swore the ladies were even hotter on Friday night (and they were blazing all weekend) –wonder why now-

Waking up was easy no hangover sweet,, 
Hit the stage to exit JJ cady what a good Trio and great songwriting and a smooth morning as it was so chill by the river listing to some bluegrass/Americana stylings and nice harmonies
Caught Ry’s Spun Monky Patrols set in the Lodge –he’s one hella rock drummer w/ Anthony Smith sittin in was so kill for a Sat Am
Moo got 2 and five eyed hand played nice sets but when Victor Barnes hit the stage it was packed for a early set and their brand of Bluegrass is so infectious everybody was digging holes in the sand dancing there asses off
I also hit Illoom in the lounge playing some Reggae-YES some dancehall and roots- and had a packed house for a hour then some hip hop/techno guy came on everybody left –the good vibe was gone -
When Bluesirkut came on stage at 6:30 it was on and they blew me away even more them the last time I seen them. Two words describe them WOW!!!!!
Bluesirkut the most impressive of the weekend along w/Arthur Lee Land , and Fareed loved their blend of visuals to audio and the driving beats they lay down.
Albino!’s set was as usual so damm good as I stayed thru the whole set and danced with all the masses all night YUM!!!
Fela would have been proud and the set was way better than the Miners Foundry set a few months before it seems the bands are raising the level of musicianship at this fest.
The only artist who blew chunks all weekend was Breakbeatbudda-bad attitude and totally rude, he’s a true euro punk piece of crap. It’s MO!
I then introduced BTS (who just arrived from Utah)on the Wood Bee stage then jammed back to the main stage to intro On the One both tore it up and it was fun hitting up both bands on two different stages! w/BTS playing till he sun coming up w/20-30 crazy people still dancing then it was breakfast at my place –eyes wide 6 o’clock sun coming up 

Sunday my voice came back and good leftovers for breakfast
Absynth – opened the music and started the jamming early, good friends that play a hot jazz blend and always a good treat
Checked out Arthur Lee Land and his Looping hell kind of keller’ish but a better voice
Then Aphrodesia and the Girls,,, hell Ya,,,, First song they strip down and the excitement builds to a fever pitch with dancing as a priority and a necessity. Nice as usual love this band
BTS tore up the main stage w/ some off there new CD
And On the One on the wood bee stage w/ Jessie and Anthony sittin in was crazy good lots of jazz overtones with that smooth R&B Funk
The Fareed Haque group was insane(even w/the bad monitor) and His wife was having a baby that night and he just flew in for the show so what a trooper and a super man.
David Starfire was good too
Victor Barnes went till the sun came up and had many artists sittin in (from Izabella, BTS)
Hecka fun weekend

And I would like to thank, Jennifer, Heather, Mary, Big Daddy Woo, Pete, Joe, Sam, Ken, Kev, Lee, Ket, Gleg, Sy, Drew, Bad Chad, Mags, Groovin Megs, Matt, Mixologist Mike, Greg,Lorin, Liz, Carolyn(I can not call you Piglet cause your too damm fine and what was the date your taking me to dinner?), Dirty Jerzy, Kat, Nevada City Heather, Maryann, Brian, Julie, Judy, and the rest of the Redding crew, Nevada City Crew, PDX possie, Seattle Crew, Chico possie, SacValley folk, Bobolink Staff and all the bands who are good friends and the ones who became friends and will be in the future and also everybody else I forgot 

2-night Izabella run in Sacramento finalized!!

We've confirmed another 2-night run in Sacramento on August 15th and 16th. For those of you that have been around a 2-night Izabella run then you know the craziness that will go down. For those of you that don't it's the biggest little secret. Sacramento has a really good scene and community that surrounds Izabella and we are excited to provide a great weekend of music. Look for our new stage design to be debuted at this festive event!

A summer night on Vashon Island proved that the community IS smaller than we all think. After loading in we starting talking with the other act on the bill and it turned out Lucas Carlton had performed with a couple of these guys in High School. As discussion continued we realized that the bass player from the band was dating Sean Lehe's cousin. The night with Damon Castillo Band (www.myspace.com/damoncastillo) not only blew our minds, but also knocked us off our feet! These guys are hot and will be a lovely start to the weekend so make sure you come out at 9pm sharp to check this solid unit out.

Saturday is when things get loose and the party explodes. Our great friends 5 Eyed Hand (www.fiveeyedhand.com) will ignite the fire with their playful artistry and impressive musical backgrounds. This summer has introduced 5 Eyed Hand and Izabella to the festival circuit and we're extremely excited to have these guys joining us in our hometown. Saturday is not to be missed so make sure you get drinks early and make it out to catch this Santa Cruz based quartet.

We're looking forward to an incredible weekend of music and celebration of life so join us for the weekend and check out some talented folks from Sacramento to San Luis Obispo. There will be horns present on Friday and a violin in the house on Saturday so look for some cross pollination. Get your $15 two-night pass early cause the place will get packed!

Tistrya played two super sweet sets last weekend at Bobolink Music Festival in Belden Town, Ca Saturday late late night/ early morning on the (Wood) Bee Stage and Sunday evening on the Main Stage! Three of the awesome boys of Izabella, Brian Rodgers on drums, Sean "Rocket Man" Lehe ripping the guitar, and Murph (Mark Murphy) on Bass, plus the amazingly talented Lara accompanied Tistrya on stage both nights to the delight of the happy crowd!!!

Although both sets were "tweener sets" during Blue Turtle Seduction's set breaks, few BTS fans were able to leave to refill their tequila or grab another bottle of wine, choosing instead to stay and enjoy Tistrya's beautiful songs!

Sunday late night/ super early morning Tistrya opened with a Brett Dennon song, "Just Like The Moon" and it was so beautiful, I almost cried!! She then played many of her own songs as the crowd, which included some members of BTS, danced, swayed and bounced to the music!!!

It was so incredible, Sunday night, to see Tistrya and Friends play the main stage and make the rain stop after a drizzily Blue Turtle Seduction set! The crowd was full of friends and family, not to mention buzzing with the STOKE of the Wood Bees!!!

The best suprize of the whole festival was listening to the Bay Area Recorders' Sunday BTS set on the long 9 hour drive home; Tistrya's set is included on the first CD!!!!! What a deal!! Each set was a steal at $10, but this CD set includes all of Tistrya and Blue Turtle Seduction!!! Woooo Hooooo!!! Now, if only I can bee patient enough to wait for her album to bee released (this Fall I hope)!!

Thanks Woo!!!! Much LOVE 'til next year!

Thursday Night Roll-Call??!!

You guys need to make sure you check out two of the Bay Area's emerging bands. Both 5 Eyed Hand and Izabella are really pushing things right now and they've been rewarded with acceptance to some of the bigger No. California festivals this summer. Take Friday off and make sure you roll into Beldon to get situated early. You know Izabella is going to bring the sick ass dance party for all the early arrivals!

Green Team!

Ok sisters and brothers....this is in hopes of reaching some green lovin hippies willing to work the recycling team at this years '08 Bobolink Festival! I need to gather about 4 people to be on board to help out with this rewarding task. Right now I need to know who are interested and who have ideas as to how we can put this together..such as having a booth of sorts so that people will know where to go to place their recyclables. We want this year and every year thereafter to be earth friendly and we definitely want to have a light foot print on the Beldon grounds. The pay would be of course a ticket into the festival as "STAFF" and anything you get in return from the recycling. We would then need some one with a truck to haul all of it away from the festival. Preferably one of the 4 people I pick for this awesome opportunity, again to help the planet and our intimate but growing festival! 2 night Izabella run in Sacramento

Izabella will be returning home for the first time since the end of January for a special two-night run at Marilyn's. It will be a great weekend showcasing great local artists and some of our friends. Friday will have Gazelles, featuring Garrin Benfield, Sam Flot and KC Taylor, start things off from 8:30-9pm and they will also play in between Izabella sets. Friday night will also have good friends 2Me (www.myspace.com/2me) taking the stage after Gazelles. 2Me is making big strides locally and will be touring again this fall so check them out if you haven't seen them! 2Me and Izabella will be teaming up again for the Concert in the Park series this summer so stay posted for details. Izabella will play two sets to round out the evening.

Saturday night will feature another two full sets of Izabella. Opening the night is recent Sacramento addition Kate Gaffney (www.myspace.com/kategaffney). Kate is an incredible singer/songerwriter that recently moved to the area and is quickly building a great reputation. She will be joined by her full band and it will a nice treat for Saturday night. Our good friend and another incredible singer/songwriter Aaron Lincoln will play in between Izabella sets.

Storrie heavily damaged by train wreck

By Will Farris
Staff Writer

Loren and Rhonda Perkins returned from a trip to town one Saturday to find their beloved Storrie in shambles. The custom, wrought-iron gate was hanging open, the lock cut off, and the driveway was swarming with emergency vehicles and crews. A closer look revealed the driveway coated with some kind of oil and rail cars strewn about the slopes above the resort.

On Saturday, June 30, at 12:30 p.m. a Union Pacific train suffered a 22-car derailment. Many of those cars tumbled down on Storrie. Two of them were tankers, one laden with peanut oil and the other with ethanol. The oil tanker ruptured, sending rivulets of oil down the hill.

The driveway was slippery enough to make walking treacherous, and the entire property smelled of peanut oil, soon to turn rancid in the heat. It took some time for crews to realize that the ethanol tanker had also ruptured. Some of that ethanol found its way into the trout pond; that in combination with an interrupted water supply killed 200 fish.

Many of the bay and pine trees that covered the slopes were taken out by the wreck, and those that are left will have to be removed in the salvage process. The trees did act as a safety net of sorts; one boxcar was halted in its slide just yards above the Perkins' home.

Parts of track and wheels of rail cars were strewn in various parts of the property, and the wreck took out a power pole. The place was without electricity for the next two weeks, which caused all of the food in refrigerators and freezers to rot.

This is not the first time that the Perkins have fallen victim to a railroad mishap - nor is it the second time.

In 2000, a railroad work crew started a fire that burned 60,000 plus acres and heavily damaged the resort.

The next year a culvert above the resort failed, sending torrents of mud and fire-damaged trees through the property.

The following year the same culvert failed again with the same result.

This latest incident may be the last for the Perkins. They have spent countless hours landscaping and refurbishing the property even in the face of past disasters, but the cleanup from this one will be massive.

The spring-fed stream that flows through the place has had its bed soaked with oil, and the slopes will be pretty much naked when the cleanup is all done.

Gordon Hinkle of Congressman John Doolittle's office said in a phone interview, "Congressman Doolittle is extremely concerned about the exact cause of the recent derailment and wants the proper authorities working hard to ensure this does not occur again.

"The congressman is especially concerned with protecting owners from dealing with the mess and dangers of these kind of accidents when they occur on their personal properties."

Okay, get this:

It's come to our attention that some copies of our album look just
like the real thing but have a small problem. The cover art is there,
the cd is printed up all proper, but the music just ain't right.

we've identified at least 3 copies so far that have the wrong music on

Hey,

Just sold my ticket for the Strawberry Music Festival and just bought a Bobolink ticket!
This is my first time, so I'm not sure what to expect. Being a newbie and all, I have a
couple of questions:

Does it get real cold at night?
If I run out of beer, is there a store nearby?
Do I need to bring a stove, or is there coffee available to purchase from food vendors?
Are there food vendors, or am I on my own? (I don't like to cook at fests)
What's the deal with all the bees? I won't get stung, will I? ;-)
Will all of the members of KDTU that are there get together and blow my mind? ;-)

I'm putting this out there for the amazing SD, who wants very much to go to Bobolink but needs to be back in the Bay area by 10am Sunday. So, if you or anyone you know is planning on heading back towards SF either Saturday night or early early Sunday, could you please please let me know so I can let SD know? Or just get in touch with SD directly. Come on, we all know how much he deserves to be at Bobo...

So I had the chance to see On the One last night at Humbrews here in Arcata, and lemme tell you- they're AMAZING!!! I'm stoked that they're playing I do believe three times at Bobolink this year! If you haven't seen them before, you're in for a treat!

Hi there folks, I am new to this tribe via Happy Brigade. I plan to seriously bring it and enjoy myself thoroughly. I went to the Space Camp Festival at the Feather River Campground a few years ago. They let me bring my dog too. He had a lot of fun dressed up as an alien. I am wondering if he could go again? He never fights other dogs, doesn't jump on people or beg, very clean. I know the answer is probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask does it? Also, I would of course like to carpool to save our planet. Anyone in the Bay area want a rider or to be a ridee?

We're playing at Molly Malone's in L.A. on the Friday of Bobolink. This is our first L.A. gig and we are really hoping to pack the place so we stand a chance of playing there again. Iffn's any of you aren't going to make it to bobo until saturday We'd REALLY appreciate the support.

We're gonna hightail it out of there right to bobo from LA so you can caravan with us as we roll in our new pimped out 1990 ford econoline 15 passenger van. It used to belong to a church and it's blue, hence the name "Jesus Azul".

Let's see, leaving LA at 2 am driving straight to Belden...we should be there just in time for our 12:30 set! : )

Just got the news: Albino! at Bobo 07!!!

Im jumping out of my SHORTS right now. These guys are like one of my faves.....theyre going to really embrace the spirit of Bobolink in a BIG way. If Blue Turtle IS back eaast for Bobo, this is my personal antidote. Im so freaking STOOOOOKED!!!! I hope they get 2 sets!!

IF you havent ever experienced Albino, youre in for a treat. Theyre like Fela Kuti meets Karl Densons Tiny Universe at Burning man, with female energy, on lots of Alex Grey. 8~D
Definitely going to parade around Belden and make the whole world a better groovy place.
