ventilation

dudes. like. so. i've totally changed how i eat. i've cut out all refined sugar, all wheat/gluten, dairy, meat (besides fish).... i eat so much great wonderful awesome life-giving super food. and i feel like a million bucks. and my clothes are fitting better. and i am so much more satisfied with my image in photographs. my skin glows, its soft and i touch myself all the time because i feel so good! hahhaha. (truly!) and i feel so much more comfortable in my skin, in my life, every day....

BUTTT

heh... and i know this is no big deal, it shouldnt be...
i havent lost any weight on the scale since november! like, i went down steadily for awhile... and then... nothing. and i know, i know, muscle weighs more, and i have been working out some, but like... come on scale!!!! show me some love!!!!!! i keep like, not weighing myself for a week or two, or longer, expecting some change... but nothing lately! maybe my scale is broken... hehe, i dont think so. i'm just totally stuck at this weight.

i'm doing a colon cleanse this week, from blessed herbs. i've been wanting to do it since christmas, and i just came home (to ny) from almost 2 weeks of california love, and i'm just ready for it now. so, maybe that will be a good weight-loss catalyst. if not it will still be so great to cleanse from the inside, get rid of years of mucoid plaque in the intestines. yes.

sigh! i know its silly, when everything else is pointing so skyward, to want the scale to show me some numbers, but i so do!!!! i do!

Read this before you do the cleansing...apparently it's not all it's cracked up to be...

I'd have to say, if you were going to do any, do something without the crazy teas and minerals and such. I used the Master Cleanse for about 12 days (could have gone shorter or longer, but this is what works for me). I was really surprised as to how I felt - ups and downs.

i've done the master cleanse twice a year for the past few years, in fall and spring. i love the way it feels to be clean from the inside out!

thanks for the concern, you two, but i know what i'm getting myself into.

the cleanse i'm doing is not artificial, as the webmd page is discussing. its natural, made from herbs and food extracts. also the article talks about repetitive colon cleansing. this is the first time i'm doing a colon cleanse. i'm not worried. i also i personally tend not to trust mainstream medical information, as it tends to be years behind alternative information. that's me.

after changing my diet so much, especially eliminating so much of my grain intake, i've definitely been less.. erm... regular, than i was before, and i think the cleanse will be good in that way, i know i have felt sort of backed up, and i could use a good push. also i like how sort of spiritually clarifying cleansing can be. its like a baptism.

tomorrow begins the 5 day cleanse. wooo!

Gosh I know how that feels. I honestly eat more healthfully & more balanced than anyone I know. I also exercise more regularly than anyone I know (besides athletes). And it is SO hard for me to lose weight. I have to push myself to the limit to get weightloss results, even though every other aspect of my physical being feels great. It's frustrating, especially when you see people around you eating junk and staying thin. Grrr...
There is a prominent theory (only partially understood) that we learn about in my nutrition classes:
The amount of fat cells created during certain stages of life (infancy, adolescence, and pregnancy) impact the number of fat cells you will have for life. Fat is stored in those adipose cells, and your body can shrink or grow by losing/gaining fat inside those cells. The actual number of fat cells doesn't change, they just shrink or grow based on their contents. It is possible, but very difficult to completely get rid of those fat cells (it's called apoptosis- cell death- when you do get rid of the actual fat cells) so, practically speaking, if you were overweight during one of these crucial periods, it will be much harder for you to lose weight because your body wants to hold on to these cells. Similarly, if you were underweight during one of these crucial periods, it would be very difficult to become overweight later in life.
I was pretty fat when I was a kid, so this rings true to me and helps me to work through the tough times and my "it's not fair" feelings.

not seeing the scale budge can reallllllly piss me off; I understand! I also wanted to mention something a friend told me.... She mentioned that she followed weight watchers RELIGIOUSLY except she didn't drink water one week...and didn't lose anything. The next week, she was sure to drink her 64+ oz of water per day, and the weight dropped off. Don't forget your H2O! I made it a point to drink tons as well, and the weight has been coming off much easier....35 lbs down and counting!!

thats a good point. i drink a lot of water, but i dont think i drink enough, and i think i sometimes delude myself about how much i'm actually drinking. thanks for the reminder <3

i was definitely overweight during childhood +adolescence. probbaly from about the age of ten... i dunno why but this all made me think about how i heard that during pregnancy a woman can build muscle the same way a man does- my a+p professor told me that, but i forget why. it could be fun to get all ripped during pregnancy... heh...

the other reason i've been pondering lately is underactive thyroid... have you ever been tested for that? i heard a sign is a consistently lower than normal temperature, which i usually have (about 97.6 usually- a whole degree low...) i'm not so into getting a blood test, or taking pig hormones or a chemical drug if it is the case...

sheesh. i feel like every time i've been serious about losing weight, the beginning seems really promising, weight comes off quickly for a minute- but then i hit a wall with the weight. i'm not down really, not about to go back to eating like i did before... i'm just perplexed and frustrated!!!

      thanks for comiserating. <3

A natural health remedy for hypothyroidism is coconut oil. You can take it as liquid or in pills. There are also a lot of thyroid stimulating foods and foods to avoid. Broccoli is one to avoid, I remember... Look it up on the internet and see what you find. Maybe you can experiement a little.

Water is a big one for me, too! Makes a huge difference.

you know, i always keep it in the back of my mind that i need to learn more about hypothyroid and how to naturally treat it. i'm fairly certain that i do have that problem, and i need to get serious if i want to help myself with it. i use coconut oil for cooking as is, i love it. i wonder if i should take more of it than that. i'm going to start researching right now. thanks kelsey <3

so i successfully completed my cleanse, so interesting to go through. also. i think i do have an underactive thyroid after researching a bunch, but i'm not so into getting a blood test, nor am i into taking synthetic hormones or those from a pig... so i'm still researching about treating it through diet, i havent found as much info as i expected to...
also since doing the cleanse, i've been eating mostly, almost completely, raw and vegan. and drinking so much water. and i feel good from the inside out.

and i lost about 5 pounds since my last post. wooooooooooooo! i hope it continues to peel off this way.

thanks for the wonderful support, ya'll. <3love
