Reiki classes in Tennessee

Healing Today now offers private and group Reiki classes in Tennessee. Classes are available for all three levels including Reiki Master.

The next class for Reiki level 1 will be held at our farm in Big Sandy, TN on Sunday, March 29. This is an all inclusive 1 day class. At the end of the day you will leave with your certificate. The class will be from 10am-3pm.

The total cost for level 1 is only $60 and this includes course material, attunement, and certificate. A level 2 and level 3 class will also be held that weekend.

The classes will be taught by Richard C. Fiallo, Reiki Master. Richard has been teaching and sharing Reiki with others since 1999 and has personally attuned over 700 different students. The classes are always fun, informing and include lots of hands-on experience

NOMADIC TAPESTRY MOVEMENT AND MUSIC on Jordan Lane; in collaboration with the newly formed Balkan folk band ' Most Pяemium', will now be hosting a Sunday night World Music Jam. This means musicians, dancers, singers, audiences of the music’s of the world...anything from Indian sitar, Bulgarian vocals, bluegrass banjo, flamenco guitar, classical or baroque instrumentalists, or Japanese Shakuhachi. ALL IS WELCOME (melody and/or percussion).

Come celebrate and share your musical passion and/or culture in a safe space with open hearts, open minds and open ears.

DaVid is an internationally acclaimed performer and instructor specializing in Rak Sharki, Bhangra, and Bollywood and one of the co-founders of the Ethnic Dance Academy in San Diego.

Please join us January 19-20 in Nashville, Tennessee in welcoming DaVid to the Southeast as he teaches workshops in Raks Sharki Combos, Bollywood for Bellydance, and Bhangra. Workshops will be held at the Global Education Center at 4822 Charlotte Pike in Nashville starting Saturday, January 19 with Raks Sharki Combos at 11:30am and Bollywood for Bellydance at 2:30pm. Sunday's Bhangra workshop will begin at 11am, January 20. Workshops are $35 for one, $65 for two, or $90 for the weekend if you register by December 15, 2007 (just in time for holiday gift shopping). DaVid will also be available Sunday for private lessons by appointment at the Global Education Center (advance registration required--limited availability). STAGE DYNAMICS: A theatrical approach to Bellydance Performance

You will benefit from Diana's 19+ years of experience and training in the Theatre, Storytelling, and Dance - including a degree in Theatre and Xenia's 12+ years of Middle Eastern dance experience. They will introduce you to elements of stage performance which will help you better familiarize yourself with the stage environment & improve your stage presence so that your audience sees your best performance when you're on a big stage. Appropriate for all levels. This is a 2 hour informative workshop, so bring a notebook!

Workshop followed by hafla. Open floor performance, sign up for your 5 minute dance slot at the door!

ABOUT PETITE JAMILLA:
Bellydance Superstars youngest member Petite Jamilla, as pictured on the cover of “Live at the Follies Bergere” DVD has been touring with the Bellydance Superstars since January of 2004. Performing the celestial and inspiring double veil as a featured part of the show, is just a fraction of what this talented dancer has to offer. Middle Tennessee Storytelling Festival

The BoroTellers of Murfreesboro present the 1st ever Middle Tennessee Storytelling Festival, featuring the BoroTellers Middle Tennessee Storytelling Guild with special guests the Harpeth Valley Storytellers from Franklin, Tennessee. This three hour show will be from 1-4 pm, Saturday, May 20 at Canonsburg, off of Broad Street in Murfreesboro, TN. The festival will end with a special presentation of our annual Spring concert, Tall Tales and Wild Hares. This show is free and open to the public and is great fun for all ages. We hope you will join us there.

The winner will be a finalist in Parisa's Amateur Belly Dance Finals in June where dancers compete for $200.

Just to make it official and correct any misunderstanding, I am not a judge for the contest. I choose the judges, which may include my students (who all take from other teachers as well), and avid dance fans who represent a non-dancer’s view.
On that note...

I am offering $10 off every hour of private instruction for participants in an upcoming contest.
Regular hour of private lessons: $35 discounted price: $25
This is valid for the rest of this series. The dancer must be competing in the next available contest which includes the finals.

I support dancers in every style to further their artistry and to give themselves the training they deserve. I encourage you all to take private instruction with a qualified teacher (especially a professional performer) as it is the most diligent way of improving your dance.

Out of respect for one another and to enhance your service, there are some policies on reservations for this evening:

You are not guaranteed a seat unless you make a reservation.
No standing room or bar area.
Walk-ins most likely will not get a table due to limited staffing.
Only 1-3 reservations in any 15 minute segment will be accepted.
therefore, your reservation may have to be earlier or later than the contest time.
It is requested, though by means required, that you make reservations for 4 or more guests.
First come, first serve on reservation times. No preference to Dancer's family and friends.
Your entire party must be present before you are seated.
Late arrivals: If no one has shown up from your party within 10 minutes of your scheduled time you may have to wait or not be seated.
Each person must order an entrée or dollar amount equivalent.

There will be (really, really this time) a limited menu with vegetarian options. There will still be a variety of appetizers, kabobs, stews, and desserts as well as the full drink menu.

Special note... Out of town dancers are very welcome to participate!
Also, anyone who has been chosen as a semifinalist is welcome to open the professional Friday show which usually features Linda. This is to offer you more experience at the restaurant and in a professional setting. Speak with Linda if you are interested. This includes the 3 dancers from the January show.
Any professional dancer who wishes to do an exhibition at an amateur night, please contact Linda.
Amateur is defined as a Belly Dancer who has rarely or never been paid for performances. This may include teachers with limited performance experience or dancers that have had up to 4 paid gigs.
Dancers must contact Linda to register.
Monthly contest first prize: $50.00 plus any tips she/he receives (see below)
Panel of Belly Dancers and non-dancers decides semi-finalists,
Audience decides finalist.
Limit 5-10 dancer entries.
This event will be postponed or canceled if we do not have 5 dancers registered by the Tuesday before the event.
Songs or song sets must be 3-7 minutes long. Props welcome, no fire or snakes please.
All styles, ages, and amateur experience levels welcome.
Soloists only.
Original choreography/ improvisation encouraged.
No entry fee.
Dancers must be in Belly Dance costuming. This does not have to be professional quality, but appropriate costuming is required. Contact Linda if you have questions about this.
Please only compete if you have taken Belly Dance training. This does not include videos. Videos are a great practicing and learning tool. However, the purpose of these contests is to raise the bar on the level of professionalism for our amateur dancers.
Dancers must maintain class and modesty at all times.
we discourage tipping in costumes at these events, audience may tip at the dancer’s feet, in the form of a shower over the head or in the hand after she dances. An employee will collect the tips from the floor when the dancer is done.

Hey everyone! I just want to introduce myself for those of you who don't know me.

My name is Layla and I live in M'boro, Tn. I'm attending MTSU with a major in Art Edu and a minor in .... well, I'm not sure yet, but either dance, painting, or theatre!! I haven't desided. I AM a belly dancer, and to me its more of a life style then a hobby! Although sometimes I don't have a lot of time to dance... : ( And in that case I get very grumpy! lol. I'm from Las' Vegas and I have been studying belly dance for 3 years now. Love it! Anywho, I just wanted to say hello and if you wanna know anything else just ask me!

Please introduce yourself. Tell us a little about you, why you joined this tribe, and what creative pursuits you like to involve yourself in.

Hi, I'm Diana. I joined this tribe after someone invited me to it. I thought, first, "cool name" then "great topic." I graduated from MTSU with a degree in theatre. Somehow along the way, though, I veered off into a different field of performance--storytelling. I'm a member of the BoroTellers in Murfreesboro. I'm also an artist (pencil portraits, mainly) and a bellydancer (just a student, though). I have an appreciation for all things artistic. I love art, theatre, storytelling, dance, music, and literature (love to read anything from Shakespeare to horror to trashy romance novels).

Tellabration

Tellabration is an international storytelling event. It's held all over the world the weekend before the American Thanksgiving holiday. The BoroTellers in Murfreesboro have held Tellabration every year for several years in Murfreesboro, Tennessee the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This year it will be Saturday, November 19, at Patterson Community Center in the 'boro from 7pm-9pm in the theatre. The event is free, so bring the whole family and enjoy some great storytelling from Murfreesboro's premiere storytelling guild.

What really gets your creative juices flowing? Is it music, your surroundings, a person, or what?

I never know what's going to inspire me. Seeing other creative people doing good work inspires me. It makes me want to do more myself. Random things that catch my attention or memories from the past will inspire me. My emotions at any given moment could inspire me.

Haunted Murfreesboro

Come hear tales of olde Murfreesboro. The BoroTellers are Murfreesboro's premiere storytelling guild, and Haunted Murfreesboro is its most ambitous project to date. Fridays and Saturdays, October 21-22 and 28-29, the BoroTellers will present a lantern-light storytelling tour of historic downtown Murfreesboro. Tours start at 8pm and leave every 15 minutes through 10pm. Reservations may be made ahead of time (615-534-0108), and they're filling up fast!!! I am one of the featured tellers, and the stories we've got are great.

well we are also having a silent auction

the last silent auction we did for the tsumani relief effort brought in $400 roughly

The 'boroTellers is a storyteller's guild in Murfreesboro. Meetings are the third Tuesday of the month at the Carriage Inn Reception House in Murfreesboro at 6:30 pm. Our next meeting is this Tuesday, July 19.

Creative costume event

In preparation for Burning Man... I will be designing and making my own costumes. Anyone interested in sewing, stiching, cutting, trimming, making a costume (for whatever occasion), and having fun and a couple of drinks in the process... Let me know and we can plan an event.
