KARSH KALE:
Indian percussionist, composer, producer and DJ, Karsh Kale is primarily known for his tabla (hand drums of India) and electronic percussion playing skills. Born of Indian parents, Kale grew up in the U.S., but was equally influenced by music of the East and West, resulting in the creation of a highly original style — where electronic dance and meets Indian folk. Kale’s sound is a hybrid of shuffling breakbeats, tabla-fused Indian rhythms, lush vocals and strings—a vibrant mash-up of global musical styles and modern drum programming from one of New York’s acclaimed remixers. Karsh is also a featured member of Tabla Beat Science, with Bill Laswell and Zakir Hussain but has also worked with or remixed such artists as Herbie Hancock, DJ Spooky, Ming & FS, DJ Logic, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Cheb I Sabbah, Sting, Paul Oakenfold, Talvin Singh, MIDIval PunditZ, and Plastilina Mosh among many. www.karshkale.com
