It's the Wheel of TIme series which is a fantasy series. Very popular among geeks. It was a HUGE saga, I believe there are 11 books out and he was working on the last. The first 4 books are great but after that they start to really slow down. You just can't stop reading though because you're already so many books in and you want it to be worth your time but you wish to GOD that it would end. Everyone I ever met who read the books joked that he better not die before finishing the series and sure enough, he did.

      bastard.

      (may he rest in peace)

The concept is really gerat, basically there is a segment of the poulation that can more or less do magic or more specificaly, they can access the unseen forces in the universe that can create magical effects. THe men who can do this all eventually go insane and end up destroying people, so it's mostly women running the show. There is one man though that is destined to save the world from the Dark Lord yada yada yada, he's got to do it before he goes crazy and destroys everything around him yada yada yada, you know, good old fashioned geekery at it's best.

What made the books so, so very LONG is that although there is one main character and plot line, there are dozens of other significant characters and polt lines that are all explored in detail so it's kind of like 4 or 5 series in one series. It's good reading for sure, just be warned that like I said, about 5 books in it slows to a crawl and does not pick up again for a while, but you CAN"T STOP READING!!! and also, be aware that the author died so now it's like having sex with no orgasm. frustrating to say the least.

about? I think its like 17000 different plots and sub plots, so it's hard to say. I didn't read it, but I know guys I went to college with that read it, and were consistently saying how slow it was, and how many different stories there were.

I thought that was it...my daddy was on the last one when we met....and he has always been saying that he hoped he would finish the last one. maybe you and my daddy should write your own finish to the series. hehe.

i've been told that he completed most of the last book and that he kept very detailed notes so the last book should be published, it just won't be him writing all of it.

I'd been following this series many years ago. I think I got caught up at the sixth book, and then stopped reading since it seemed like there was a LONG way to go, and too long of a wait. I had planned to read them all once the series was done. I read that he was working on the last book when he died and that there are enough notes for someone else to finish it.

The most interesting part of the series, at least as far as I was concerned, were the sul'dam and damane.
