Come and learn the basics of making a small 'magaZine' in this 1 hour workshop. Ari will be helping us assemble a zine in class and copies will be available shortly afterwards! 4:00

* Ivy Basket Weaving with Kiliii - Join us for a 1 hour workshop on how to harvest English Ivy and make it into a beautiful basket or other creative creation. Kiliii Yu is a local hero when it comes to reintroducing people to their natural environments and will be leading this fun and creative workshop. 3:00-4:00

* Mushroom Walk with Jordan Weiss - Ever wanted to know more about mushrooms that grow in the area? Take a half hour walk with TLC Farm's mushroom guru and learn more about your local fungi friends and how to foster their growth. 5:00-5:30

* Community Yoga with Lauren Turley - Come and Start off your BLOOM experience reaching for the trees and breathing with the forest and animals! Lauren will lead us for 45 minutes through some easy and simple yoga poses to set the tone for the days events. 2:15-3:00

Indian Water Bearer....

A Water Bearer in India had two large pots; each hung on each end of a pole, which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house, the cracked pot arrived only half full....

For a full two years this went on daily, with the Bearer delivering only one and a half pots of water to his master's house.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the Water Bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you."

"Why?" asked the Bearer. "What are you ashamed of?"

"I have been able for these past two years to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work and you don't get full value for your efforts," said the pot.

The Water Bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path." As they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wildflowers on the side of the path, and this cheered him up some. But at the end of the trail, he still felt bad because it had leaked out half of its load, and so again the pot apologized to the Water Bearer for its failure.

The Bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice there were flowers only on your side of the path, not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always know about your flaw and took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day as we walked home from the stream, you watered them. For two years I have been able to pick beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being the way you are, he would not have had this beauty to grace his house."

Each of us has our own flaws. We are all cracked pots. Nothing goes to waste. Don't be afraid of your flaws. Acknowledge them, and you too can be the cause of beauty. Know that in our weakness, we find our strength.

VBC !We need your help!

If you were fortunate enough to catch Paul Stamets or Michael Mead at the recent Village Building Convergence, then you know how important this venue was. Each and every night was filled with good music from around our local commuities and incredible speakers brought in from all over the country. We ate some of the best tasting healthy food possible and shared some incredible and beautiful nights admist the creation of so many artists and natural builders.
All of that was made possible by our incredible extended community whom make this possible every year.

Now we are in the clean-up phase of the VBC.
I am posting this with the hope of gathering folks to collaborate in one big clean-up this Saturday.
In exchange for your time, you can expect a good breakfast with an assortment of dishes and fresh coffee in thanks for your help.

So, please come and join us this Saturday at 12:00.
Your help is sincerly appreciated!
It is the Comm--unity that makes Portland so amazing.

P.S. If you have a truck, we really need you. We are in the final phase of the clean-up and need to do a lot of movement.
