  • Greetings!

I am new to this group and to Tribe as well. I wanted to let you all know that I've recently helped a black spa in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn expand and open a small studio where we offer yoga (predominately) and in the new year will have dance and pilates added to the register.

Hibiscus Day Spa | Wellness & Movement Studio is located at 558 Halsey Street, at the corner of Stuyvesant and is easily accessible by public transportation.

You can visit www.HibiscusDaySpa.com to learn more about the spa and check out the schedule.

If you live in the New York City area and are interested in teaching opps, please contact me at info@hibiscusdayspa.com.

There is also a new yoga studio that opened just before we did on the other side of the neighborhood called Yin Yang Yoga; I'm not sure if it's black-owned but the owner is a person of color.

  • Peace and Blessings La Donna,

    It been a while.
You are doing an excellent job at networking the black yogis and yoginis. Keep up!
My question is, where are our black yogis and yoginins in the UK, Caribbean, and Africa?
We must have some valuable connections there.
Whenever i would look up yoga in the Caribbean, i would get these retreats or hotels or European yoga teachers who established teaching there. It is very disappointing to me.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
  • peace i am from chicago and i do have some info on some yoga classes for US. From 6:30am to 7:30am at Bungo Beach East 66th street every Sunday a wonderful elder teaches great yoga moves to refresh the spirit and help u start ur day. All u need to do is bring ur blanket or ur own yoga mat wear something comfortable and be ready to stretch and laugh. 3 dollar love donation( mandatory) or more that u can give.

At Sacred flow temple my sister Audunni does a great job at really stretchin and pulling out some unwanted energy. With a combination of different styles (those u'll have to ask her cause i'm still new at this lol) and breathing techniques she'll have u floating out the doors. it every sunday at 12:00pm - 1:00PM. 10 dollar love donation (mandatory) or more that u can give. Now I there are other classes too but i will stick to the yoga for now. the number there is 773-324-2812. they will be moving soon but call and book yourself. peace and love i'll keep u updated
