new quad bike with kid trailer
this bike was just finished last friday after help from Dragisa, CTP, techshop, Tomcat (did you know you have the same name as a famous couple?), Scotty C and the DSC crew in Arcata, CA.
we cut all the cross pieces, side plates and tabs, then set up the two new tandem frames in a new jig the two weekends before maker faire 07. i ran a 'DIY: sociable tandem bikes' demo at that event with the help of tomcat and his girlfriend nicole. the wednesday after, CTP did the tig welding at the techshop (3 hrs) then tom rebuilt and tuned the bike (7 hours). dave m and i drove to arcata friday and scotty c welded the steering tabs around 12:30am the night before the KSR on saturday.
this is a photo of two moms and three kids riding the bike. the right side does lean out from center a bit, but it is very well aligned and rides solidly and fast (21 speeds!). expect to see it around SF and on the playa this year ;)
