greetings,
a buddy of mine and i are interested in constructing a rickshaw for burning man 08. i was wondering, of those of you who have built them yourselves, if anyone could begin to give me tips for acquiring materials, welding, do's and dont's etc.
any sort of feedback would be much appreciated, we're just feelin around tryin to find the right way to go about the whole thing.

Re: DIY help?
Tue, December 25, 2007 - 10:47 AMhow many passengers and drivers?
one way to start would be to buy a used pedicab off craigslist or ebay - there are chinese ones that are pretty cheap but not super easy to assemble and sometimes have factory issues. but with enough time that is a low risk and one option.
if you want to create your own design, think about the structure, etc - check out some of the multi passenger rides on this image
pedalplaya.tribe.net/photos/...67a881cb
also in this tribe (brc rickshaws) there are a lot of images of our two driver (side by side setup) pedicab project from 2005.
happy holidays!

Wed, December 26, 2007 - 6:21 PMthank you.
we want to construct something w one driver and multiple passengers, ie more than 2, but i think that starting from the ground up might be the best choice for a project like that.
i'm guessing a welder is in order, maybe some old bike frames? -

Wed, December 26, 2007 - 10:19 PMdraw this all out, scan it and post here in our gallery - or over in burning bikes tribe - one constraint will be how transportable this needs to be... -
