This makes me mad...

topic posted Sun, March 11, 2007 - 8:24 AM by  Beki
I saw this promo for one of those nanny shows and the mom featured wears her 14 month old in a sling and nurses her. This was the big conflict highlighted in the promo.

Maybe it's just me but I see no problem with that if this is what works for that mom. The promo makes me mad and I have been thinking about writing a letter as the nanny was just so disgusted on the promo about the mom still nursing her daughter.

I know should see the show first and not base my letter on the assumptions I draw from a promo. But I was so steamed that I didn't pay attention to when the show would air and what channel I was watching.

Please let me know if any of you have seen the show or know when it will air.

Also, if this post is too much drama for this board feel free to delete or suggest the deletion of this post to the moderator. I won't be offended.

I don't see how it could be considered too much drama. I want to know when the show is on too. Do you remember what the nanny looked like? I watch those shows pretty often maybe I can figure it out.

I am pretty certain that it is the Supernanny show which is usually on Mondays but the upcoming show listed on the website was different from the preview I saw. Maybe I was on a different Network playing reruns??? But the promo was too well done for that... usually syndicated shows don't get big promos, right? I'll try watching the episode tonight and see if that is it.

Ok... whew! I missed the first half of the show but did see where the Nanny sat down and talked to the mom and the mom said she had been thinking about weaning for a while but didn't know how to go about it. So I'm not going to write any letters about that.

I guess the promo guy did his/her job well. Got people talking about this show and got me to to tune in and watch. Even though I was watching for the wrong reasons.

I love drama, so NO, it could never be TOO much drama.

The reason I started this tribe was BECAUSE I caused too much drama over on the other breastfeeding tribe! I'm still a member, I just keep my mouth shut.

Anyway as far as those TV nannies go, aren't they English: UNICEF deemed England one of the WORST countries for children to be raised! A link to read more:

    www.commondreams.org/headlin...4-08.htm

And what would you expect from a woman who probably never had a child of her own. Plus raises children whose parents can't do it themselves . . . . .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand, what 14 month old stays put in a sling? NOT mine.

My newborns didn't even like those things, they liked to be sitting up and looking around.

I dunno- might want to write that letter anyway- even if the show was okay- how many people saw the promo and are now thinking 'okay, breastfeeding that long is hazardous to development & family life?' The producers NEED to know that that kind of cr*p is NOT acceptable!

Exactly! I am offended by her comments as well. I breastfed my children until they were 3 years old. I know that I gave them an exceptional gift on so many levels. The benefits to breastfeeding are endless. Why on earth would anyway make a public statement that it was detrimental to a child? They are completely out of line. Not to mention, this is a huge insult to so many cultures. As many people as possible should write a letter to complain. That is ridiculous!
