Has anyone ever seen a male "bridesmaid" before?

What if one of your best friends was a male and you really wanted him to stand for you along with your other girlfriends...or if you have several male friends who were important to you that you wanted to be bridesmaids. Would that be okay? Or do you all think that the bride should find another way of incoroprating her male friends into the wedding?

I have only heard of one person who has done this---well actually it was the groom who had a female friend be his "best woman", but I believe it was a very small ceremony---maybe even a courthouse wedding so they didn't have to deal with what everyone at the wedding thought. So I was wondering if anyone else has seen this done and what everyone thinks about it.

I'm so excited. Next Thursday I'm attending a wedding (who get's married on a Thursday?) and for the first time in what feels like forever, I am NOT a bridesmaid. All I have to do is show up, give a gift and have a nice time. I sot to buy a dress that didn't cost the same as a car payment and doesn't have to be alterred. I'm attending another wedding in 3 weeks where I'm simply a guest also. I love my friends and family who had me as an attendant, but this is such a nice, relaxing feeling.

Isn't that a movie? Any way, have i been on a race for time. I have been trying to put togeather a bridle shower, where, the bride has given me a list of people to invite of 36 and then added 4 others. So yes you counted it, 40 people. And that is not counting the 4 brides maids. When I did get all the invites out the Mother of the bride to be. Called the bride at work and riped her a new one (to put it kindly) about it being at my moms house where there are stairs. Just so that you know the mother can do stairs, but not to well, and the gradmother can't do stairs at all. The bride was told that there would be hell to pay if gradmother could not come. Like i would let that happen. This was after i sent all 40 invites. So i get 2 calls one from the bride and the other form the sister. I told the Bride that if her mother had a problem she should call ME and NOT her. So haveing the manager back ground that i have. I had a back up, that wolked for all.
On top of that the bride now know pritty much what is going on and she keep trying to get in on the planing. I told her if she new what was good for her she would just show up and unwrap her giftes.
And i still do not know what we are going to do about the bachelerett party after words.. That is up in the air... and i am working 2 job, and just got over being very sick for like 10 days with this stuff that has been going around. And the one Brides maid who has not been seen in her dress has her dress fitting on Thursday and we both (bride and I) have requested to be there to see it. So we will see if we catcher this time. IFNot i am taking cover.
Wish me luck, I am comeing around the bend on sliding in to home of the wedding in hell.. It will be wonderful...

Dress Colors

What do you all think are the best bridesmaids dress colors that you have seen before....or perhaps ones that you haven't seen, but that you think would look fabulous as a bridesmaids dress color. Also, has anyone seen multicolor bridesmaid's dresses? I swear, every wedding I have ever been to, the bridesmaids dresses are one color....so I'm just curious to know if anyone has seen two or multi-colored dresses---I guess the main photo for the tribe has some bridesmaids dresses with two different colors. So I assume it has been done before---I've just never seen it. So now I'm rambling...back to the original question. What are your favorite bridesmaids dress colors?

Ok now we are on our way. My friends wedding is on its way we have set a date. He is getting his interveiw on the 30 or 31sr of this Month. We are sure that he will be here in like 3 to 4 weeks after that and i guess we will have things even more ready for the wedding that is now going to be.... Ready for this? March 25th.. As you may know that i and the bride are doing cart wheels. We had come to a stained still there for like Months.
But here is MY problem, the bacheloratte party. I have been told by the bride that she dose NOT want a striper and she dosen't want to be out to late becouse she, well, we have to be at the hair place the next day. She at one point told me it was fine with her if we just stayed in and watched movies. Ok Every brides party i have been to we do some damage. You know have fun. She came out yesterday and told me if his friends get him a striper she would be mad. (also saying he would be mad also if they got him one) So i am at a stain still. I just do not what to do nothing. And have everyone mad becouse i didn't get things set up. But she has put it out there that she dosen't want to have one i guess. I just want to do something fun with out spending alot of money, and not to upset the bride or the party of the wedding. Dose anyone have any good ideas that i can work with...huh?

HELP!!!

Well for those who don't know the whole story. My best friend is getting married. She is going to get marriend to a English man. For you who do not know it took FOR_EVER to get all the papper work filled out and sent in and more paper work filled out and sent it. The last 3 and a half months they have been waiting for our gov to set up a interview for him to come on over for the wedding. They told them 12 weeks, like, 14 weeks ago. And here we are, almost there. This will be a waight off my sholders. And for my friend who has been going nuts all this time. So the interview is Dec 30..He should be here by Feb. and it looks like the Wedding is in the middle or end of March. So now i can say GAME ON!!
What we have left is the flowers, invatations, and to find the DJ. And to finish with getting the dresses done. **SIGH**
Hopefuly the next time i do this it will be my wedding and i will in Vegas. LOL

This sorority sister who I used to be like best buds who has now gotten really fat - like a size 8! - is going to be all upset and shit if I don't make her a bridesmaid. I am having six other sorority sisters all be like bridesmaids and she was my roomate and stuff so she is going to thow a major hissy fit.

I don't want any fat bitches in my weddding party. What should I do, like buy her a gym membership or Jenny Craig or something?

video production of your wedding?

Hi, I'm not a bride, of course, but I am a wedding and event videographer. I've been in business for about three years. I've been told that less than 40% of the wedding market nationwide hires a videographer, and I was wondering how many of you plan to have your wedding professionally videotaped and produced? And if not, why not? I'm not trying to sell anything, but am just curious what your reactions are to wedding videography. Thanks for your responses.

Unmatching dresses

Has anyone been to a wedding where the bridesmaids didn't have a specific dress they all had to wear? Were the guests okay with it, or was it thought to be too untraditional? What were your experiences? And for those of us who have not, what do you think about it?

Personally, I think it's a great idea. When I get *married*, I think that I would like to do something along those lines. Since I'm a planner, coordinator, and am particular about aesthetic appearances (I like things to look nice), I think that I would like to have those I am acknowledging as being important people in my lives to look nice and coordinated somehow, but not necessarily in the same dress---maybe the different dress styles could be matched to best suit the different body types. I dunno....I'm just thinking here......what do you all think!!!???? I'm curious to hear what others have in mind. Maybe you all like and think that everyone should wear the same dress....

Bachelorette Parties

I have now attended two bachelorette parties and both were great fun! However, I want to know if any of you have heard of women doing more lengthy than a one-evening kind of party? My brother-in-law and his friends always do nearly week-long excursions or gatherings for their bachelor parties. And then when I was recently on a flight from San Francisco to Amsterdam, I was talking with a man on the flight who was flying to Amsterdam specifically for a week-long bachelor party! His comment was, "It's a long way to go for a party". YA THINK?? Anyways, it got me thinking about how cool it would be to have a bachelorette party like that! Has anyone ever heard of women who have done something like that? Or even just a several-day long gatherin with her girlfriends?

Can anyone recommend some good places to get nice bridesmaids dresses....

in order to avoid the horrors of having to wear a "dress from hell". Recently, I stood in a wedding for a friend of mine and she really tried to avoid having us all buy dresses that were unflattering and that we would never wear again so we ended up wearing a simple, elegant black dress from J.Crew. J. Crew now has a whole bridal department and seem to be trying to cater to us modern brides and bridesmaids who are looking for nice dresses. Here's the link to J.Crew's website with their wedding section:

http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/category.jhtml?id=cat74288&navAction=jump

So, when I have to be a bridesmaid again, I am curious to know of other places where one can get a decent bridesmaids dress. Anyone have suggestions?

Hey everybody,
I've been a bridesmaid four times (still not a bride, haha) and have only given one speech/toast to a bride, which was my sister. I was supposed to be a bridesmaid for the 5th time but I had to cancel because I couldn't afford the airfare to go back home. Anyway, I told the bride that I would write a little something for here for the best man to read aloud. I'm fairly good with words, but for some reason I am drawing a blank here. :S

What I wrote, so far, sounds like a letter of recommendation for a job, haha...

Any suggestions?

how do i start this, my best friend is getting married. She had ask a friend of both of our to also be in the wedding. There are 4 of us Bridesmaids. She has seen 3 of us in our dresses. She has made changes on my dress on how she wants thme all to look. The friend who has some how got in and out of her dress both times before anyone us has seen her in it. The first time she got there early so they just did her fitting. So when i got there she was already done. Today our 2nt fitting,i made mine at 5:30 wile hers was at 5:15.. when i got there to take the pictures of her in her dress. She came out with it over her arm and had already tryed it on with out the Bride yet again seeing it. Then was in such a hurry to go.. there is always a new thing every time. I told her tha the bride was going to be pissed that she missed it again and that i didn't thing it was right the she rushes in to get out before everything is done. When my friend did get there it was only 5:20 and she had just missed the other girl. She was upset to say the lest.. She ended up changing the slives on mine so the rest of them have to be done the same. So since we missed the other girl. It will be hard to get all of them the same way.
But it it just me that if you are in the wedding of a friend that at one point she needs to see you in the dress to see what she need to change. So that we do not have to keep this thing up... i mean it takes like 5 to 10 min... I am just flusterd for my friend. As if she dosent already have to much on her plate. Well i guess if it makes her mad i guess i will let her talk to the girl about it. Even thought tonight she told me over dinner that she regreats asking the other girl to be in the wedding. She is a little on the selfish side ......
Do not take me the wrong way... i love my friend and there corkey ways.. but not this.

I'm in a quandry about the type of shoes to wear. I've always worn full length dress as a bridesmaid but we've decided to have this dress hemmed in the front and have the fabric in the back trail down. What type of shoes should we wear? the back of the dress is in what I would call a grecian (sp?). This is the last piece of the outfit and we need to decide soon, so something easy to locate would be great. The dress is similar to the link below and in a matte burgandy. thanks ;0

Hi all i am so glad that you girl maid a Tribe. I am getting ready to be a brigesmaid (again) for a dar friend of mine. She had done everything not to go crazy. I have talked her down out of many bell towers. For that is what a bridesmaid dose. You see, the man she is going to marry live a cross the sea. Becaose of that there is a lot of paper work. She wanted to get marriend on Oct 1st. At this point, not looking like it is going to happen. ...ok i am getting side tracked.

Long story kind of short ...any ideas on a party for the bride who dose not want a striper? Yeah how strange is that?

I'm curious to hear what others think regarding the shoes a bridesmaid must wear. The last wedding I was in, the bride wanted us all to wear the same shoes. When I heard this I wasn't surprised since the past few weddings I had attended or been in, they/we all wore the same shoes. However, when I told a friend of mine this, she was shocked because, in her experience, she had never had to wear the same shoes. This got me thinking and wondering why it is that the shoes (something most wouldn't even notice) have to be the exact same. I want to hear what others have experienced regarding this and if they think matching shoes are necessary.

How much say do you think a bridesmaid should have in the choosing of the dresses, shoes, etc.? I really think that the bridesmaids and bride should discuss it together to somehow reach a general consensus, but ultimately, I guess that the bride makes the final decision. The last wedding I was in, I was just told that this is the dress that's picked out, and these are the shoes. I didn't really have any input, nor did the bride give us a bunch of choices for all of us to discuss amongst ourselves, and then settle on the one we all liked best. I think that the bride and (maybe) maid of honor chose the dresses and shoes and just told the rest of us what we were wearing. With many bridesmaids and it being the bride's wedding, really, how does this dress decision game work?
