Improvised fusion combo:

1) Figure eight right side + left side + chest square lfrb + chest circle + other side

Cue is Turkish shimmies with an arm swoop

2) Chest circle clockwise + counter clockwise + chest lift + undulation from up to down + right left hip locks + hip circle + undulation from down to up + chest lift-drop

Cue is Egyptian basic with arms coming to the side on 5-8

3) shoulder locks for 1and2, 3 undulation down, 4and hip locks right left, 5-6 hip circle + horizontal hip for 7-8 + switch to the other side (same other side)

Cue is Arabic, for 12 right arm comes down, 34 left arm comes down, 56 arms come up and 78 both arms come down and foot steps back RL

4) step back R front L and shuffle RLR with a turn, same other side, arms swoop down and up.

Cue is Arabic hip shimmies with left arm coming down and right arm coming down (from side to front)

followed by a cool new Fusion combo with HipHop

In this workshop, you will learn some descents to
the floor and what to do while you are down there…
Kneepads are strongly recommended for this workshop.

4.30pm-6pm: Indian flavored fusion
You will learn a combo with some nice poses with arms
and hand gestures.

Fees: £15 per 1.5 hour workshop or £60 for all 5 workshops

TRIBAL FUSION BELLY DANCE:
WHAT IS THIS? Tribal Fusion is an eclectic dance style where belly dance is fused together with different styles of dance such as tribal, flamenco, street dance and Indian Dance. This dance form is originally from San Francisco and is very known because of dancers and dance companies such as Rachel Brice, Unmata, the Indigo, Zoe Jakes, Belly Dance Superstars, ...

EAST CROYDON CLASSES:
PLACE TO BE: SOLUTIONS HEALTH AND FITNESS CLUB
1, Lansdowne Road, Croydon
2 minutes walk from East Croydon train station
(directions: when you come out of the station, walk first street to your right and then at the roundabout to your left. The fitness center is on the right hand side at the end of the road)

Tribal fusion classes in EAST CROYDON are taught every Tuesday starting the 8th of January

7.15pm - 8.15pm: beginners/improvers
8.15pm - 9.15pm: improvers/intermediate (min. 6 months to 1 year dance experience, but any dance experience will do, so this could be Egyptian dance, Tribal, Street Dance,...)

Dates for this 5 week course:
8 /1, 15/1, 22/1, 29/1, 5/2

New bellydance courses start the week of the 7th of January.

Hilde is a qualified teacher with a degree in dance. She has also got certificates in Egyptian dance and Tribal Belly Dance. She has over 10 years experience in dance and has been teaching belly dance for 3 years. Her style of dancing is very eclectic and there is a huge streetdance and flamenco influence present in her dance. Over the years she has created a hybrid style where Middle Eastern dance and Western influences are fused together.

This term she will be teaching 3 different styles of belly dance:

Mondays - Brighton - starting 7th of January
6.30-7.30pm: Egyptian fusion - beginners/improvers
7.45-8.45pm: Egyptian fusion - improvers/intermediate

EGYPTIAN FUSION BELLY DANCE: This style uses Egyptian dance techniques, danced to more Modern music and with a more Modern approach.

Thursdays - Portslade - starting 10th of January
7-8pm: Tribal fusion - beginners/improvers
8-9pm: Tribal fusion - improvers/intermediate

TRIBAL FUSION BELLY DANCE: This eclectic dance style mixes tribal with streetdance, flamenco, Egyptian dance and Indian dance into a funky hybrid style.

9-10pm: Tribal Belly Dance - improvers/intermediate

TRIBAL BELLY DANCE: Also called ATS. So much fun and less scary than it sounds! In this course, a vocabulary of movements is taught, each with a cue to start with. The dance is always danced in groups, with leaders that give the cue of a movement and followers that copy the movement. It is all about communication between the dancers and it is a real social dance. The outcome is a very synchronized but improvised group dance, that has an earthy mesmerizing feel to it.

WHAT IS THIS? Learn the art of Belly Dance through a fun exercise class. This class is aimed at losing weight and toning up, getting fit and feeling great in your body. Hilde's experience in teaching Aerobics inspired her to start teaching this class. In each class you will be taught a series of exercises that work towards a choreography. This is a low impact class, so ideal for fat burning. Each class is different so perfect on a drop in basis.

Belly Dance Fitness Fusion classes are taught every Monday starting the 7th of January

tribal fusion class combo level 2

hello for everyone that came to the level 2 class yesterday, here is the combo that we did (I hope you can translate whatever it is that I wrote...) if you want to practise at home, since we are continuing this choreography next week

song by Balkan Beat Box - adir adirim

Combination:
1) Stepping forwards with step touch RLRL + crossed arms combo
2) 2 Undulations back with chest lock , followed by shoulder locks up RLRLR then chest lift then shoulder lock L up

3) Throw arms up, front, side (1and2)+ undulation and hip drop (3-4)+ 3 hip locks (5and6) and chest lift on 8
4) Chest circles while walking back, 5-8 double hip lock right and left, arms come up
5) 4 undulations with leg switch after 2 arms come down and back up
6) Egyptian basic (on 8, place body on diagonal, arms in Egyptian arms position)
7) Side combo shoulder locks chest lift chest circles chest lifts undulation 2 hip locks and switch to the other side
8) same other side, at the end switch facing forwards

Hey all - well last night was amazing. Such a crazy show, and everyone seemed to love our dance! Quite a drunk crowd, so perhaps they would have cheered a cat pissing, but I think we did well!!! ;-)

We did one dance (I was very nervous but no big mistakes!), and were followed by very strange things including a stripping unicyclist! A few people came up to us afterwards asking who we were and where we study dance and who our teacher is etc. etc..!! What a great feeling.

Can't wait for Arabian Spice now!

just got back from udderbelly performance - wicked!!

Hi everyone, just got back from the gig in the udderbelly, it was so great!! loads of different acts, fire stuff, burlesque, all weird and wonderfull!, it was absolutely great, and afterwards there was a wicked party, with everyone dancing on stage. Shame I had to go, have to get up early tomorrow.

BUT, reason why I mention it, we are doing ONE more performance next week on Friday, this time with Masmoudi, the new brighton based belly dance troupe. It is going to be really great, and it would be great if loads of you could make it, as we can have a party afterwards (dont have to get up early next week, yeah!)

Hope to see you there! Tickets are £5 and the show starts at 10.30, but to be honest show will probably not start until 11.30, so if you come a bit late that is fine!! I believe you can buy tickets at the door, but I recommend to buy them a few hours or days in advance as it was sold out tonight.

shops for bellydance gear in B'ton area?

I know the best place to get bellydance costuming and accessories is through websites, but it's nice to be able to pick a few bits up from local shops.. do you know any that sell nice stuff??

The only ones i know are 'Mystique' in the lanes (Union Street near Piccolos), and 'Greenwich Village' (Bond Street)..
