It is always a question of knowing and seeing, and not that of believing! The teaching of the Buddha is nothing more than a path welcoming you to come and SEE the illusions we make of our selves when we stop seeing and try to believe. It’s inviting us to see the maze or layers of reality and how it all actually works. Buddhism is as much a philosophy as it is a faith...
Given the unwavering flux and impermanence of cyclical existence, science has come a long way in freezing sections of reality long enough to study, identify and discern the physics of how things work in that moment. Yet, we are still limited to our knowledge of reality in flow. Belief can give people hope. However, belief in anything comes at a cost, or has a type of byproduct. It allows for a certain amount of mental stagnation and eventually most easily stop searching and adapting to reality. This creates a fertile environment for all kinds of problems to arise in our minds. It is empty. Acurate and whole hearted belief is often almost impracticable given the limits of our senses coupled with the vast and all encompassing nature of the whole of reality, all percieved through layers & layers of delusions.
Belief is not needed. Just observe, see, seek out illumination. Don't think. Just whatch.
What is needed to awaken to enlightenment,
experience understanding, insight, wisdom & good judgment, peace & contentment, is to wake-up to what you already had within you all along; To simply SEE. (I'm not talking just about the sence of "sight" but rather, "observation") See without emotional or mental labels, stories, views, or preconceptions.
Clear the monkey-mind. Focus your awareness. Forget your troubles. step into the looking-glass.
So, anyway...
there are many tribes on tribe.net under the guise of Buddhism used for idle chit-chat; For joking and being silly, and there's nothing wrong with this. There are even more tribes where people relentlessly debate what they feel is true Dharma, or where the Buddha was right or wrong. There is even a tribe where people banter back & forth about their anger called "Bitter Buddhists"! There are many Buddhist tribes where what is dogma, or what is not, is often used as nothing more than a stage to showcase cleverly worded retorts and argue endlessly with anyone who will give attention, etc. etc.
So when I looked over all these Buddhist tribes, I felt like it would be truly auspicious to make a tribe just for spreading Dharma in all it's many colors. Maybe a little more free from some of the banter that one can find so easily in other tribes.
I was thinking we could drop in now and then and catch teachings and discussions about actual Buddhist curriculum. (However, don't let my guidelines limit you.) I invite you to use what you can from the postings here,
Add to them,
Help encourage others on the path to purifying their Body, Speech, and Mind,
even if only for a little. Even if only while on this tribe!
It's all good.
[But if your looking to flex your debating skills or show off, and your not interested in becoming Buddhist or encouraging Buddhism, there are a huge selection of other tribes out there that would be much better suited for you.]
