Did anyone else check out the H&M that just opened on Powell Street this past weekend? If so, what did you think?

Re: H & M
Wed, November 23, 2005 - 4:32 PMI wanted to soooo bad, but I knew it would be a mad house, so I thought it would be best to give it a few days. I cannot wait to see the Stella McCartney line that she designed specially for H&M. Anyway, I am planning to go soon and will let you all know!! -

Re: H & M
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:45 AMWell I finally made it to new H&M store...I wasn't super impressed. The clothes are pretty funky and cool, style wise, and the quality is decent to good...but the prices aren't that cheap...I remember it being less expensive when I went in New York. Also...it was a zoo. At least when i got there you didn't have to wait in line to get in...who waits in line to shop?? Not me!! Anyway, i will have to go again when it isn't so hectic so i can really spend some time there. One good thing about H&M is that there are some cute holiday clothes at a reasonable price! Happy shopping! -

Thu, December 1, 2005 - 2:47 PMi'm going to try and head there this weekend, after i search for a couch and coffee table at some thrift stores. i really hope you aren't right Sarah about H&M being more expensive here--that would be so disappointing!

Re: H & M
Thu, December 1, 2005 - 3:10 PMI too thought that the clothing seemed a bit more expensive than what I thought it would be. I also was a bit disappointed by the quality. When I tried a few shirts on they just seemed made of such poor material that I wanted to take them off as quickly as possible. I also thought that their sizings were a bit odd. All of the tops that I tried on were super long (I mean really long...like they could work as a dress long). Despite not liking most of the stuff there, I still ended up purchasing a tank top.... -

Re: H & M
Wed, December 7, 2005 - 2:28 PMFYI, In NYC (Soho), they have two stores on the same street (Broadway). One is younger and trendier and cheaper where as the other is more upscale, business oriented and where you will find the Stella McCartney line. A quick cursory glance at their website shows they actually have different lines that they stock in different stores.
So with that being said, I know they opened two different stores in SF so it may be worth checking out the other location.
If you have been to both stores, I'd love to hear what the differences are. -

Re: H & M
Thu, December 8, 2005 - 6:18 PMI asked the girl at H&M what the difference between the two stores is and she told me that the one on Post is only women's clothing, but that they have virtually all the same stuff as the big one...maybe a few more things in the ladies only store. So, not a big difference as far as styles go. Also, I learned that the Stella McCartney line is almost completely sold out, in fact I only saw one piece when i was shopping...as to whether they plan to get more stuff from her or contract a new designer, I'm not sure. -

Re: H & M
Fri, December 9, 2005 - 8:28 AMI just found out a couple days ago that there was another one! OMG I read online that in Germany the Gap sold out to them... and I have to say from what I saw last weekend... it's no wonder. Jack and I went into both stores and Gap was like dead compared to the madness of H&M... plus they had way better clothes!!! I couldn't believe all the cool stuff... velevet... the colours of all there clothes was just gorgeous! Gap had like NOTHING like that!
Happy Shopping, girls!

Re: H & M
Fri, May 5, 2006 - 2:09 PMI actually went to the opening and yes it was a madhouse.
being a guy, it's actually nice to find stuff that looks "current". i bought a few things and am actually wearing a black shirt from there to a party tonight.
so, here's my $0.2
the quality of the fabric and construction is so-so. the prices are pretty good, but after feeling the fabric and seeing what it is, I can understand why. the fashion is pretty nice though. something i realized that is essential, is to try things on. it may look great on the hanger, but it WON'T on your body. so you have to put it on and see how you look and not how it looks.
