I had been thinking about this Idea and it crossed my mind that something impermanant could be part of a permanenant culture.... yurts and nomads and all.

At what point can we take the core values, such as operating a cash-free economy or maintaining social responsibility, and start integrating them into the areas we all live in now. I'm in the SF Bay Area, and I would love to see Buildingman take off here. It kind of has in a sense, but people are too distant, and too willing to disregard what they haven't the time to understand.

How can reach those people whose lives aren't well-suited for buildingman ideas? Ultimately, building a permaculture requires the engineering of powerful memes, and the emergence of a collective social entity. How can we bring this to the cities, where it's needed most?

These are all questions I've been asking myself in one form or another for about 10 years, though I don't think I understood it before this years burn. Sigh. So many people who'd rather save a buck than save a life.

Welcome home Michael;Glad you found the heart of Burningman. In Seattle we have a strong community that shares healing and art year round. It's call the Oracle Gatherings. You may find it in my tribes here. Some of the members also are working toward building community with visioning potlucks. Will attend my first Sunday and will share some of the vision statement co created.
Some simple ways to walk as a burner 386 are freecycle a yahoo group. Personally been exploring all lessons learned in depth and am grateful for the openness and unconditional love found creatively living. Do have lots of freedom to choose that has come from dreaming and manifesting my own realities.
