    Here's some news, if you have been following threads of the BURN CLEAN for a sustainable Burning Man you may have see these notes on other tribes. I'm happy to connect people who have been working on things thus far. There is hope and we are it!!

    There are many things we can do, and still live a desirable lifestyle. This information that Arrow is spreading with the Burn Clean porposal is one of many proposals people have put forth to increase this sustainable movement for BM and beyond. It takes going one step at a time, sharing your vision like Arrow did and then revising it. Also recognizing the efforts that have been done by BM staff and the community. Look at Earth Guardians and recycle camp!

    I support this, and we can hold workshops/ community gatherings in the BM Head Quarters. Please contact me if you are interested in setting something up- for we are already in motion with some permaculture based ideas, and it's always good to collaborate when given the opportunity (there's more resouces that way). This is your cordination team!

    2 weeks ago a few of us met with some BM staff, Blue and Camera Girl about the sustainability movement for BM (and beyond) and " the meeting has come up in conversation as an example of what Burning Man can do to effect the larger world as part of the staff retreat that they are engaged in... and the staff loved the idea of an education/community/event focused
    permaculture/environmental summit at the office/ HQ and thought that was a fantastic approach to take." - Camera Girl in responce to this movement.

    *It's important to recognize what efforts have been done, especially by the BM staff- and appreciate the hard work that some people have put in for years in that respect.

    here are the notes from our meeting, if you want more info- please ask me! :)
    Kachina Katrina*

    NOTES from 11/7/0-5 @ BMHQ
    With:
    Larry Santoyo- permaculure specialist

    Kachina Katrina – Coordinator, community building

    These notes are divided up into categories, not the minute by minute flow of the meeting. If you have questions, or add-in’s please let me know- as we are a TEAM, and there is no ‘I’ in team!

    History/ Past work:
    (as we all know it’s good to know & observe the situation before moving forward):
    * Education and persistence by a few people to move things forward, one step forward, one step back…
    * Formation and voice of the Earth Guardinans
    * Eco- groovy café products
    * Sarah Haines- (sp?)- Woman of wonders who has moved forward with “Spit fire Agency” work on Julia Butterflies shows; tree-free paper Co.; Connector on Music scene.
    * Veggie-bus – kids on the “Unified Bus” front spreading seeds of education
    * Greening in the office to educate people, and creation of ‘Recycle Camp” (yahoo Blue)
    * Eco groovy products to Commercy and staff
    * Field guy-> experiments -> flaming lotus girls using different techniques/ products
    * “DO- acracy”- see something, DO IT!!
    * BM-“gloriefied construction”- > city created/ destructed in a week!
    *Questions of “Are we using too much oil/ energy….” Bio-diesel

    I’m sure there’s more, and it’s always good to learn more. I think we have a pretty good idea, enough to be educated about the past and move forward with the understanding that this is a process and takes time/ patience.

    Problems:
    $-finances- vendors/ follow through
    timing
    leasing equiptment
    generators-> availabilities ->Company
    “Air’s Clean Out in the Desert”- leaves more room for polluting
    Education
    Earth Guardians- more!!
    Getting people to agree

    IDEAS:
    1. Education-> ACTION
    2. Create a matrix of all the problems to arise to solutions
    3. Generators -> business opp. For community member-> large amount of bio-diesel
    4. Write up a proposal for government-> Bio-diesel
    5. Use the commercial Bio-diesel tap in Reno to our advantage
    6. Permaculture Course- observing/design philosophies @ BMHQ
    7. Use the BMHQ for community workshops, etc (coordinate with Blue)
    8. Subtle motions to be incredibly effective; outline eco-sound ways/techniques
    9. Resources directory
    10. “Bring it back” to the community
    11. Technology = Enviro education on the website; links to more information; section called “thinking ahead”
    12. Veggie oil for lamp lights instead of kerosene
    13. Coordinate with Blue and Camera Girl to move things forward / connect with people
    14. Tap into resources
    15. Art & community grants
    16. Summit
    17. Definitely get together with Earth Guardians.

    Resources:
    All of us!! (Skills & resources)
