TBD's 1st 2008 temple concept

Howdy folks - I was just struck with an idea - wanted to bounce it off all 4 of us for now... I know it is flat 2D - but I am sure living in a 3D world in 4D spacetime we can imagine some depth and curve and dimensions...

I am an artist not an architect so I do not even know if this is doable.

I have illustrated a rough scale of a person at the base of the main temple to give some idea of overall size.

I think this would be very dramatic and yet simple with both light and shade and a large central hall for people to gather in.

Again all thoughts ideas inspirations welcome.

Well - I have always favored organic shapes - and I feel the strength and beauty of domes and arches works well for the playa - as far as naming the temple / way way way too early.... This group has just started up - I would like to get a creative ball rolling first - get some solid direction going and then we can all name the temple - or call it the "Temple of You"

That is absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure what you all think of the 2008 theme (I'm still ruminating on it) - but maybe it could be called the Temple of Immersion. When I think of the American Dream - or to pursue a personal dream in general, one must immerse themselves into it fully. The definition of "immersion" is being deeply involved or engaged, to plunge into or baptize or to bury. And this idea of immersion has a strong undercurrent in the American Dream theme - both political and personal, etc. In some way, each citizen of BRC immerses themself into the world that is around them, only if temporarily, or perhaps they carry the spirit of BM all year long. And if the citizens of BRC were to come together and construct this temple, it would be all the more fitting.

One other detail of the above piece I noticed was the "teardrop". This makes so much sense for the temple, as countless tears are shed there. Then back to the immersion idea - cleansing yourself with water and tears. I think this could be really amazing!

It is beautiful. I'm not an architect or an engineer but I can wield power tools! If anything I can be another brown day laborer ala the American Dream theme... :) You can pick me up at Home Depot every morning!

All joking and theme bashing aside, I honestly would love to put in a little sweat and a lotta love into this project.
