Hello Cascadians, Burners, Cacophonistas, Tribal Harmonix's, Cosmic Elves, Legion of Flying Monkeys, Disaster Area, and Creative Freakazoid Robots in general... (From: Nelson, Gerlach, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Belignham, Victoria, Kamloops, Squamish, Whistler, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver).
I'm excited today by the current progress on "The Spring Fling".
Special Request
--->
Burn BC needs 6 focused, respectful, and responsible people to manage and coordinate 6 key zones of this event.
(1 for the door, 1 for the Red & Green rooms, and 4 for the 4 arena's of "Creative Self Exploration").
If you have a performance you'd like to contribute, please contact me.

Introduction
It looks like after much mental processing of potential alternate venues, "The Spring Fling" will happen at the Waldorf on Friday, April 18th. It also looks like some extremely enticing elements are coming together.
[Burn BC wanted to create a "Date buffer" for Recompression and the Spring Fling, and had been playing with the 25th as a date. However, SWARM is very interested in a very special collaborative performance and they are on tour after the 20th.]

So, THIS TIME!!!
We WILL have the lower basement (Dining Room), it's already booked, there are some forms and applications that will need to be submitted to the city over the next few weeks (in order to have special event status for that room); meaning there will be 4 distinct areas (3 indoor, 1 outdoor).
--> This also means we can potentially operate a coat check.
"The Spring Fling" will be an exciting and diverse event, with the potential to explore a relationship between different aesthetics and interpretations of...
The Spring Fling
"Bling, Swing, Shwing a-ling-a-Beltane bounce -O- Ramathon -a- thong -O- matica"
Initially it looks like the potential arena's of "Creative Self Exploration" we can explore will be the following 4.
* Bar: Live elements and the back area being a visual lounge.
* Tiki: Tropical, foliage, earth, jungle, crystals, intentional displays, pudja, etc.
* Dining Room: Descent into the underworld, lower level, naughty, etc.
* Licensed patio: Fire, Mutant Vehicle, Arts Cars? (Anyone own a giant Tesla coil?)
Yes, I did say licensed Patio, which means we can hang' outside and have drinks, alongside fire (and each other), to keep us company.
Budget and Tickets
Most likely this will be a limited ticket event [with the basement added, and an approximate (and comfortable) capacity of 500]. The ticket price will reflect the cost of production, plus the sustainability of the Burn BC project.
(Ticket info will be posted as soon as it is available.)
Most likely there will be an "advanced price" and "door price"... If tickets last.
Major factors effecting ticket price will be the added cost of opening up the basement for our use (licensing and added talent), as well as Burn BC's general administrative overhead.
The preliminary estimated cost/budget of the event will be in the $4000 - $5000 range.
Up-front costs will be $1000 - $2500. (Depending on various factors)
(Burn BC currently has a $420 monthly overhead (insurance & storage), which is expected to rise significantly, with the potential acquisition of another production & art storage space in the coming months, if funds allow for it.)
So, the more revenue we can put in the company account the easier it will be to cover future events, projects, experiments, and ongoing overhead.

If you want to get expressive and/or be supportive.

Thematic Elements
Here is a review of the essential creative template that has evolved so far (all subject to input).
Perhaps something speaks to you and you want to apply you're talent, art, visual expression, performance art or experiments to an aspect of this event. We are ALL encouraged to try things out.
Generally the exploratory flow: from entering the Waldorf to the Outdoor Patio below, will look as follows.
--> The Bar (and back area of the Bar)
The first place we enter, casual dress will feel more comfortable here.
Live elements and music, will be explored in this space.
The back area can be set up as a relax zone with Visuals. (Tables and Chairs).
There's a small outdoor patio at the front, that will be fenced off by Moduloc.
This fence will proceed all the way around the side of the Waldorf to encase the small front patio, some of the front sidewalk, and the Licensed Patio & Stairs of the Waldorf.
--> The Tiki Lounge
This space is very conducive to an organic metaphor.
Snow Dragon and I may have a couple of surprises for this one.
We are looking for people that want to explore the organic, and foliage elements with smooth organic music, performances and Art.

--> The Underworld
For a very long time, I've been wanting to explore a relationship between the upper floor of the Waldorf, and the lower room. The idea being that descending the stairs would be like a descent into an underworld. I'm looking for reliable people to manage this space and create what they feel would be a respectful exploration of the underworld metaphor.
If any of us know Burlesque people, it would be nice to open the space with performances that digress into whatever music works with the space.
--> The Licensed Patio and Fire Zone.
I've been chatting with various performance folks about a crafty elemental performance with Fire and such.
Should it all come together, (and word on that should be confirmed by next week) then we can expect to see something with a bit of edge, as well as beauty and grace.
I won't spoil the surprise.

Let's look around for 6 key people who want to politely coordinate the key zones, then go from there.
