Hello fellow Freakazoid Robots, Burners, Bohemians, and 5th Dimensional Entities....

If you're around the East Vancouver (BC) area this Friday evening, Burn BC invites you to explore your personal creativity, and playful nature.
We're throwing down a wild night of mayhem at the Waldorf (Vancouver) THIS Friday (February, 27th) at 8pm.

Dress to express, and share some delights.
Fetish Fun, Live Music, DJ's, Open Stage, Fire (if the weather is clear); all will collide and melt away the Winter Blahs.

I'm very excited about the developments of the evening (and Burn BC in general).
Starting at 8pm an open stage will invite YOU, to be expressive... if you dare.
By 9pm the night will throw down some sexy grooves to Live Jazz in one room and Taal Mala in the other.

There are many more kick ass contributions to the night and while it ends by 2am, there might be places to go...
All the info is at: Http://BurnBC.org

So please drop by and support Burn BC (currently in the process of incorporation as a Creative Non Profit Community Organization).
"Creative Self Exploration with the Mutual Respect of Personal Boundaries"

Let your light shine so others may see the beauty that surrounds them.

Hello Burn Lovers,
Feel free to pass this along to your friends.

Things are shaping up extremely well for this years After Burn.
We've secured the space, and some really great people, ideas, and contributions are coming together.
A wonderful team of capable people are planing to make this a memorable and beautiful experience for the rest of us.
The space is amazing and we have room for 400 sexy people (comfortably).

After Burn 08
Theme: Love (or Burning Love)
Door Tickets: $25
USA Tickets: $15 USD (For people traveling from the States).
The list of contributing Artists and Performers will be listed (and updated) at: Http://BurnBC.com

Tickets can be purchased by this Friday (October 31st).
Proceeds to go towards incorporation of Burn BC as a "Non-Profit Community Service Cooperative" Arts and Community Development organization.

Burn BC will be transforming into its next phase of development in the coming months.
We will be incorporating the project as a "Non-Profit Community Service Cooperative" with a wonderful spectrum of people from across the province (and mutually supportive communities) serving on the founding Board of Directors. With incorporation, we will be continuing the momentum of organizing a project to support the Outsider & Underground Arts communities who contribute far more then they receive. With an equitable, responsible, and supportive ideal of community development, casual creativity, and pure fun, we are excited that Burn BC has reached this point. Over a year and a half of trial and error experimentation has lead to this, and much has been learned as we invite your participate in the future of Burn BC as it works towards "The Cascadia Burn" and the "Collaborative Industrial & Multimedia Arts Centre".
......

More on the event: After Burn 08 "Love".

There are already some wonderfully creative people that have committed, music, performance, art, volunteer efforts and more.
But we want YOU to take a little time to show your best, and brightest interpretations of what you want to see, feel and hear.
For this upcoming event and celebration of "Creative Self Exploration with the Mutual Respect of personal Boundaries" we ask the question "What would YOU like to contribute to the collective experience?" (and can we fit it in somewhere).
All of the live elements starting at 8pm.

If you have something creative to contribute, please let us know, we love all forms of performance, especially from people who are trying things out.
It will be a wonderful event lasting until the wee hours.

The space is wonderful.
The Main floor looks gorgeous and spacious with a mezzanine that will host an intentional Art installation, and some chill and couch areas.
(If you have some cushions to donate).

The Basement is all stone.
Art and music will happen in this Underworld (GORF Beats) and Live PA will make that space come together.
A bonus for this event will be a super chill quiet get away room with a Dirty Santa Photo Booth, in another studio in the Building.
So dress your best, brightest and naughtiest for this complimentary photographic experiment.

With all of this happening on a local election night, things will be very interesting to say the least.
We would love to see your shining faces and delicious naughtiness for this celebration of creativity and life.

Tickets will be available by Friday October 31st.
(Friday August 8th)
One of the things that we would like to see happen...
ALL Ages and FREE in the parking lot of the Waldorf.
From 5pm - 11pm

If someone can step up to organize this, the Waldorf has agreed to open the patio as a Drink Garden.
If no one steps up to take a lead on the outside, the indise will still be great throw down.

So far there are a few Art Cars coming out as well as other potential ideas.
We are inviting anyone that wants to play to try something out.

Please step forward with an idea of something YOU would like to offer.
We have access to a BEER GARDEN and would love to hear some kick ass music.

There will be a meeting at the Waldorf on Monday, July 21st at 8pm.

Come Set up your contributions!!!

Hello Friends,

I'm looking for input from the greater community.
Burn BC will be teaming up with Tribal Harmonix to create a cool space for the Bohemians and Burners at Car Free.

Tribal Harmonix is programming the stage and setting up the sound system.
Burn BC is coordinating the creative space and potential ambience.
We would like to invite people to contribute something.
A Sculpture, a craft project, come out and set it up.

The Stage will be located at Vendables and Commercial.

Snow Dragon and I are going to set up Xara (like at the Juicy Danger meets Burning Man) and host a plant making workshop.

Xara:
Xara is an open source project created by Mark Hinkley.
The local Xara was created by Ron van der Eerden as part of the Xara camp that attended Burning Man.
The local Xara created by Ron is now in the care of Napalm and Snow Dragon to continue the this meme of creativity.

The premise of Xara is that an Archaeological dig unearthed a future civilization that will live in a utopian equilibrium with nature.
With Xara, we pre-enact this utopia by growing, Xara and contributing creative elements to it's imaginative forest domain.
Anyone can take up this meme and contribute to it's art form.

Please pass this around and let people know we are looking for contributions.
If your theme camp or organization would like to partner up, we would be delighted to encourage this.

Cheers

Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man
DVD Release Screening, Q&A, and Dance Party
Saturday, May 10 at 7 pm, Japanese Hall (487 Alexander St)

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary Special Edition DVD release of David Vaisbord's Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man documentary, Larry Harvey, Executive Producer of Burning Man, will be in Vancouver for an evening of celebration and debauchery on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Japanese Hall (487 Alexander St, Vancouver.) The evening will begin with a screening of this cult classic film and escalate into pure riot and revelry! The after party for this even could only feature a Burning Man inspired fashion show, Blackberry Wood, Jay Michael and DJ Timothy Wisdom – not to mention food, fire... . a mobile boardroom parked outside to settle emergency red tape, celebrity monkeys and a giant mechanical mondo spider.

The event will be presented in two parts:

FULL MEAL DEAL: Film Screening, Discussion and Party: $25 advance, $30 door
7pm Doors
7:50pm INTRO! And ... . Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man film presentation!
9pm-10pm Panel discussion and Q&A with David Vaisbord, Larry Harvey, Tiny Taylor & Tom Comet

PARTY ONLY: Schmoozin' & After Party: $10 advance, $15 door
10pm Doors
12:30-2am DJ Timothy Wisdom

Advance tickets are available NOW online at www.JuicyDangerMeetsBurningMan.com and at Zulu Records (1972 West 4th Ave) and Highlife Records (1317 Commercial Drive).

Guests will be treated to an evening of pure revelry, mischief, stunning media and all night entertainment. View the film that changed the face of the underground, creative community of Vancouver amongst the same colourful and energetic crowd that inspired it. The Japanese Hall will be cleverly disguised as a piece of the "Playa". We have a host of mischief makers plotting the uprising.. . . On visuals: David Rimmer, James Deane and Media Victim. Bid credit also goes to Burn BC, GVIAS and the Inner City Commune -- these folks know how to throw down a party. Cash bar, brilliant art installations, décor, fire shows, food, costumes and clever surprise theatrics all part of the scene. Costumes encouraged. Anything goes.

The film Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man is a fascinating look at the lives of two of Canada's most brilliant and dangerous performers, Tom Comet (Circus Orange) and Christine "Tiny" Taylor, who take their act of extreme hazard, buzzin and sparking with chainsaws and flame throwers to Burning Man (www.burningman.com). Seasoned Burners and inquisitive minds alike will marvel at the scene -- filmed at the renegade desert city 10 years ago! In those 10 years, Gemini nominated filmmaker David Vaisbord, creator and producer, has shown this film to seduced audiences via TV Ontario, CTV, and BRAVO! It played to sell out audiences in New York and Chicago, made celebrities out of its two leads -- the hair-raising comedic/thrill-seeking duo Tom Comet and Christine Taylor -- and received the Special Jury Prize at the Yorkton Short Film festival. David Vaisbord, Christine Taylor, Tom Comet (Circus Orange), as well as Larry Harvey and Marian Goodell from Burning Man will be holding the discussion panel following the film and shakin' it up with us at the after party.

Indeed, this is more than a DVD release. This is a unique, creative and inclusive community celebration. Get involved with the crew!
There are still a few volunteer positions available. Get a hold of Andrea Curtis, the event mama at orangeandorange@gmail.com.

A few pieces of BIG news around Burn BC.

Hello my friends, Cascadians, Burners, and Freakazoid Robots!!!

I'm feeling beautiful this morning as the sun shines brightly asking me to go out and play.
I'm feeling this way because there are wonderful waves and currents flowing around our networks, and communities.
The year is getting underway and I'm feeling very excited about the momentum.

I'm also buzzing with glee this morning, because last night I spent an hour on the phone with an original member of The Cacophony Society & The Suicide Club. He was very straight up and has a solid perspective.

One very funny irony I drew from our conversation was that Guns brought two very different kinds of people together in the Desert back in 1990 to 1994. If it wasn't for Guns there would be no Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert.
(No Joke, True Story, I know "Ironic in the extreme").

This conversation gave me a fresh and solid perspective from which to reflect upon.
After this wonderful conversation, I'm coming to many positive conclusions today, and feel very comfortable about my personal direction in the coming months and years.

I look forward to the creative adventures ahead.
Woot!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While I'm not sure if I will be attending Recompression, and I'm still deciding on how I might forge a positive relationship with the GVIAS; I'm definitely looking forward to participating in the following list of activities over the next few months.

So here are a few things coming up that I am buzzing about; with enthusiasm and excitement!
We don't know where it will take us or what will happen.
We are inviting artists, theme camps, and organizations, to set up around the intersection.
We will manage an interactive stage and host music.

Some really cool ideas have already come out of our initial inquiries.
More on this will be posted soon.
The first thing we will be looking for is.

What do YOU want to present!

---

>> Breakfast Beats <<
Date: Still in Planning, for Saturdays or Sundays.
Time: Early Afternoons
Location: Granview Park (possibly other locations)

http://breakfastbeats.com
The brain child of Snow Dragon, she wants to facilitate a weekly community space, with music, fun and Breakfast.
Initially her idea is that we get together in Grandview park, with DJ's and breakfast on Saturday or Sunday Mornings.
More to come on this as she develops it.

---

>> Burn BC Film Festival <<
Date: ??
Time: ??
Location: ??

(Still in early development) When this comes together we may see some very special guests at this Festival.
What we are looking at is a series of VERY INTERESTING films on various subjects we relate to.
Some of this is a surprise, so when more details are locked down, it will be announced.

---

>> Burn BC Summer Carnival Bazaar <<
Date: Summer
Time: 12pm to 2am
Location: TBD

This one has been in the mix since last year.
We're looking to create an environment that invites our community members to play, share, and enjoy a festive environment.
Most likely it will happen at a location that can transition from a day time to night time event.
Yesterday I spoke with a person who's been wanting to create something in a similar vain.
We are talking about a potential cooperative project.

Get the word out on this one!!!
Inspired by the San Francisco Valentines Pillow Fight, "The First Saturday of Spring" Pillow fight that started in Vancouver, has gone international.
New Mind Space created http://www.pillowfightday.com to post the cities participating in this.
It is very exciting that Vancouver created something, set it free and now it's taken root.

Tell EVERYONE, to be there.
It is now official: No one organizes it, everyone spreads the word.
It is now a beast of it's own and a yearly tradition that takes place on the First Saturday of Spring.

Location: ??

There will be more freezes around the lower mainland.
Information is just forming.
More info will be relayed.

Sometimes good ideas spring up simultaneously.
This one has come from a few different directions.
They all have similar elements.
Express your inner super hero, seek out roof tops, party.

If you know of a GREAT rooftop to scale.
Let's do it.

A building climb would be good.

---

>> Recompression <<
Date: April 6-9
Time: All the time
Location: Sunshine Coast
SO!!
That's thats the whole kit-n-caboodle.
You can see what has me buzzing.

Burn BC (Vision, Mission, Values)
___________________________

VISION

Burn BC is a community development project and BC-wide network of creative people who love "The Burn" (literally and figuratively). Burn BC fosters healthy "Arena's for Creative Self Exploration" and community development. These arenas encourage participants to experiment with, explore, and redefine, personal creativity; as a tool of empowerment and personal growth, to develop healthy, self-defined personal identities.

MISSION

* Produce "The Cascadia Burn".
* Fund and manage an industrial Arts Center.
* Fund and manage property for storage.
* Fund and manage property for an Arts Retreat.
* Foster Collaborative Community Development projects.

VALUES

In regards to personal space:
The singular root value that underlines the Burn BC project is:
Mutual respect for personal boundaries, while encouraging "Creative Self Exploration", through various forms of participation and experimentation.

In regards to Shared Spaces:
Burn BC encourages participants to understand the following statement when entering Burn BC managed spaces.
---
When you enter a common space (Literally and figuratively).
You should clearly understand the following statement of common respect.

* Respect the Art
* Respect the Space
* Respect Each Other
* and (Most importantly) Respect yourself !

And you will probably have a very good time.
---

Self-discovered values
By extension to understand how you can contribute self-discovered values to the Burn BC project please read and understand the following three articles on the Burn BC website.

* Open source philosophy
* Play
* "Everyone is Mad"

Spring Fling: Update! (Waldorf - April 18th)

Hello Cascadians, Burners, Cacophonistas, Tribal Harmonix's, Cosmic Elves, Legion of Flying Monkeys, Disaster Area, and Creative Freakazoid Robots in general... (From: Nelson, Gerlach, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Belignham, Victoria, Kamloops, Squamish, Whistler, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver).

I'm excited today by the current progress on "The Spring Fling".

Special Request

--->
Burn BC needs 6 focused, respectful, and responsible people to manage and coordinate 6 key zones of this event.
(1 for the door, 1 for the Red & Green rooms, and 4 for the 4 arena's of "Creative Self Exploration").

If you have a performance you'd like to contribute, please contact me.
------------------------------
-----

Introduction

It looks like after much mental processing of potential alternate venues, "The Spring Fling" will happen at the Waldorf on Friday, April 18th. It also looks like some extremely enticing elements are coming together.

[Burn BC wanted to create a "Date buffer" for Recompression and the Spring Fling, and had been playing with the 25th as a date. However, SWARM is very interested in a very special collaborative performance and they are on tour after the 20th.]

--------------------------------------------------------------------
)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(<.o0o.>)'(
------------------------------------------------------------
)'(<.o0o.>)'(
).(

So, THIS TIME!!!

We WILL have the lower basement (Dining Room), it's already booked, there are some forms and applications that will need to be submitted to the city over the next few weeks (in order to have special event status for that room); meaning there will be 4 distinct areas (3 indoor, 1 outdoor).

--> This also means we can potentially operate a coat check.

"The Spring Fling" will be an exciting and diverse event, with the potential to explore a relationship between different aesthetics and interpretations of...

The Spring Fling
"Bling, Swing, Shwing a-ling-a-Beltane bounce -O- Ramathon -a- thong -O- matica"

Initially it looks like the potential arena's of "Creative Self Exploration" we can explore will be the following 4.

* Bar: Live elements and the back area being a visual lounge.
* Tiki: Tropical, foliage, earth, jungle, crystals, intentional displays, pudja, etc.
* Dining Room: Descent into the underworld, lower level, naughty, etc.
* Licensed patio: Fire, Mutant Vehicle, Arts Cars? (Anyone own a giant Tesla coil?)

Yes, I did say licensed Patio, which means we can hang' outside and have drinks, alongside fire (and each other), to keep us company.

Budget and Tickets

Most likely this will be a limited ticket event [with the basement added, and an approximate (and comfortable) capacity of 500]. The ticket price will reflect the cost of production, plus the sustainability of the Burn BC project.
(Ticket info will be posted as soon as it is available.)

Most likely there will be an "advanced price" and "door price"... If tickets last.
Major factors effecting ticket price will be the added cost of opening up the basement for our use (licensing and added talent), as well as Burn BC's general administrative overhead.

The preliminary estimated cost/budget of the event will be in the $4000 - $5000 range.
Up-front costs will be $1000 - $2500. (Depending on various factors)

(Burn BC currently has a $420 monthly overhead (insurance & storage), which is expected to rise significantly, with the potential acquisition of another production & art storage space in the coming months, if funds allow for it.)

So, the more revenue we can put in the company account the easier it will be to cover future events, projects, experiments, and ongoing overhead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to get expressive and/or be supportive.
---------------------------------------------------------------
)'(<.o0o.>)'(
).(

Thematic Elements

Here is a review of the essential creative template that has evolved so far (all subject to input).
Perhaps something speaks to you and you want to apply you're talent, art, visual expression, performance art or experiments to an aspect of this event. We are ALL encouraged to try things out.

Generally the exploratory flow: from entering the Waldorf to the Outdoor Patio below, will look as follows.

--> The Bar (and back area of the Bar)
The first place we enter, casual dress will feel more comfortable here.
Live elements and music, will be explored in this space.
The back area can be set up as a relax zone with Visuals. (Tables and Chairs).

There's a small outdoor patio at the front, that will be fenced off by Moduloc.

This fence will proceed all the way around the side of the Waldorf to encase the small front patio, some of the front sidewalk, and the Licensed Patio & Stairs of the Waldorf.

--> The Tiki Lounge
This space is very conducive to an organic metaphor.
Snow Dragon and I may have a couple of surprises for this one.
We are looking for people that want to explore the organic, and foliage elements with smooth organic music, performances and Art.

).(

From the upper level....
----------
accessing the stairs internal stairs, we descend into an underworld of performance and fire.
----------
To the lower level...

)'(

--> The Underworld
For a very long time, I've been wanting to explore a relationship between the upper floor of the Waldorf, and the lower room. The idea being that descending the stairs would be like a descent into an underworld. I'm looking for reliable people to manage this space and create what they feel would be a respectful exploration of the underworld metaphor.

If any of us know Burlesque people, it would be nice to open the space with performances that digress into whatever music works with the space.

--> The Licensed Patio and Fire Zone.
I've been chatting with various performance folks about a crafty elemental performance with Fire and such.
Should it all come together, (and word on that should be confirmed by next week) then we can expect to see something with a bit of edge, as well as beauty and grace.

I won't spoil the surprise.

______________________________________________________

Let's look around for 6 key people who want to politely coordinate the key zones, then go from there.

Shanti,
Napalm Dragon
)'(<.o0o.>)'(

Dear Cascadians,
(Brainstorm meeting details at the end of this message)

Please put an X on your calender for March 7th.

This one will be interesting.
While it's not "officially" spring, we're throwing a fling....
and...

Gamelan X is coming to Vancouver on a three city tour (Portland, Vancouver, Seattle), and we want to welcome them with a very special night.
If you're not sure who Gamelan X are, take a look at these links.

Gamelan X
So if you're interested in participating, please let me know.

Things to consider:

* What would you like to add to the "Spring Fling"
* Can you billet some members of Gamelan X.
* Do you want to expose them to a good time in Vancouver the night before?
* Do you have Venue ideas?

There are various venues we can use.

* Are there venues we could consider?

I'd like to host a meeting of interested people this week.
Please come out and enjoy some good fun and brain storming.

Saturday 3pm at Zawa (Commercial Drive)
Please dress in your crazy best.
A little costume goes a long way.

Gamelan X Needs You!

Dear BC Burning Man Community,

I was looking for burners in BC and found this tribe. While this post is not directly about the BC burn, it is hopefully related enough and targetted to the right people in the community who could help me generate some ideas.

I am one of the directors for Gamelan X, a group from Oakland that has participated at burning man for many years. We give workshops in Kecak (aka monkey chant), play shows, use solar and veggie fuel, and have been the group (along with the Loyd Family Players) who have processed with the lamplighters to burn the man on Saturday for the last 2 years. We have also been the headlining act on the main stage for SF Decom for the last 2 years. We are an ensemble of 11 people and samples of our spankin' new album (to be officially released on Feb 22nd) are available at www.gamelanx.com.

Anyways, we are playing in Portland on March 2nd with the March Fourth Marching band for their annual birthday blowout and we are looking for a way(s) to continue our trip up the coast to Seattle and BC. This is an open letter to anyone who might have an idea (big or small) or general interest in helping Gamelan X get a gig in BC on March 6,7, or 8.

Please eel free to pass on any of this info to anyone who may be able to help bring a taste of the Oakland Burning Man community to BC. My direct email is danbales@gmail.com.

Thank you and Happy Holidays,

Dan

WOW!

The Tiki Lounge is looking incredible.
Snow Dragon and co, worked hard to finish it this last Sunday.
Aside from a couple of minor details it's about locked down.

On Thursday night there will be a push to deck out the Bar.
(Anyone who can come out please do).

---
Things are really coming together for this two phase event.
Our early night Schedule is locked down with incredible dance performances, and live music.

Check out the Contributing Artist link at the Micro-Site.

I HIGHLY recommend, you show up at 7:30 to guarantee entrance and respect the wonderful contributions from these Artists. If you come later in the evening you may have to wait for people to leave.

After that, the early night will end with a hot fire performance to kick off the DJ's, more live bands and Fishes solo PA... Transgress.
It's going to be a great event and a wonderful send off as we go into the Winter Season.

I look forward to seeing all the shinning faces this Friday.

Cirque De Sag: Meeting this Saturday

Hello Cascadians,

Let's meet in a Face to Face:
Please don't assume "someone else" will take care of things.
This is your opportunity to step up and own some of Burn BC and it's sub-projects.

When: Saturday 1pm (Nov 3rd)
Where: The Waldorf
Subject: "Cirque De Sag" - Nov 30th (http://sag.burnbc.com)

-----------------------------------
I expect posters and Flyers to be ready for Saturday.
I'd like to meet with people who have time this weekend that would like to participate in "The Cirque De Sag".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things we're looking at are:

* Posters: Key locations for posters (The Drive, Main St, West End, Kits), do you want to put up a few?
* Flyers: I'd like to give out a bunch of Flyers for people to selectively disseminate, to people we think would be interested.
* Decorations: Red & Gold (coordinated by Snow Dragon)
* Art: Can we get more Art out to this and future events
* "Volunteers": Door staff, and a few other details
* Performance Artists, and Musicians: We need to lock down the set list by the 16th of November
* Transport vehicles
* Anything you can think of that we may have missed.

I'm not asking for anything more then people want to offer.
A little goes a long way, especially in "tear down".

If you have an hour on Saturday and want to have some FREE BEER.
Show up and I'll buy the pitchers.
If you have any questions, please call me.

Thanks,
<.o0o.>

After Burn 07: Financial Report

Dear Cascadians at large.

As promised here is the After Burn 07 financial report.
All revenue was from Door Sales only.

Based on this the estimated total turnout for both locations combined (compensating for the Back Door policy), was approximately 500.
The (paying) attendance at the Waldorf was 433.

The Cash is now being transfered to the "Burn BC Community Development Fund".
We are nearly settled out with all the Contributing Artist.
All "Shareholders" will receive letters of recognition stating the shares and honorariums they received/donated.

Detailed Financial
Only the Executive Directors currently have access to the detailed books. (The Directors will be listed on the site soon)
This may change in the future, to include people that want to sit on the Community Advisory Board.
There are many reasons for this.

More discussions on this issue (if it is an issue), will be tabled at the Town Hall in the new year.

------------------------------
------------------------------
The Actual PDF is currently only posted to the Yahoo Group.
The Shares were spread out amongst the Contributing Artists, Contributing Participants, The Volunteer Army and the Administrative Body.
Expenses were a combination of transportation, gear rental, sound man, Art Supplies, and equipment purchase. (A ladder, cash box, etc.)

A couple of points that effect the financial picture:

* In order to sort out the Pioneer 1000: we have left the $500 deposit with the Waldorf, until this matter is sorted out.
This means that the Bank Account will be short $500 until this gets sorted out. As soon as the matter is resolved the list will know.

* We may (or may not) be contributing to the recovery of the CDJ Pioneer 1000 (there are some sketchy sound man details to sort out)

Final Result:

Given that we will see the deposit returned and will not be on the hook for the CDJ 1000...
Ultimately the Final Tally looks like this.

* $2895: To the Burn BC Community Development Fund
* 29,670: Shares in the Burn BC share Pool.

What this means is that 1/3rd of the events revenue was successfully donated to the Burn BC Community Development Fund.
========================

A similar report will be released for the Cirque De Sag.
Anyone who has received shares "owns" a chunk of Burn BC (when it becomes a community corporation on 08/08/08)

In the new year we will host an open Town Hall.
This town Hall will review what we've learned, communicate the Burn BC is goals, and look for input on how people want to participant in the development of Burn BC as a community development tool to produce and manage The Cascadia Burn.

The more we add to the Community Development Fund the closer we are to The Cascadia Burn.
So far I think we're off to a good start.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel comfortable venting them on the Yahoo list.
No opinions are irrelevant.

Thank you,
<.o0o.>

After Burn 07: Postmortem Report

Hello Fellow Cascadians,

WOW!
What a delightful experience that was.
The event went beautifully, with relatively minor issues to deal with.
We're now, one event closer to "The Cascadia Burn".

Amanda deserves special mention, she filled in and took up the slack, shouldering more then her fair share of the burden.
Burn BC owes her HUGE!

---------------------
Overall I've been receiving wonderfully positive feedback. (Via... Email, Text Message, Phone, and in person)
Generally the common feedback (so far) is.

* The people were wonderfully diverse: (Age, Ethnicity, Communities, Styles)
* The Music, and performances were SUPER!
* People were getting a real kick out of the mix between Live Music, DJ's, and performance Art.
* The people looked Fun, Sexy AND respectful.
* There was no way to take it all in (reminding some of us of the Playa)

I personally was pleasantly surprised to see the After Space Full at 5am.
-----------------------

One noteworthy "hitch" was the super drunk dick-head (no offense to penis's) from my building.
Turns out, that he was upset when no one offered him free beer from the Bar.
When I told him there wasn't one...he lost it.

Long story short...
He crossed some serious lines that could get him evicted (without my intervention).
This week I will meet with the management to get some feedback.
I will report back to the list after.

A couple of details...

* This is a 24hr commercial building
* Everyone signs a waiver about noise (for the trains)
* People on the ground floor sign an additional waiver about noise from the basement.

I don't want to see him evicted, especially if he respects our space.
Apparently he's the talk of the building today, so that alone might shut his aggressive ass up.

On the positive, whether or not we can go all night in the future...
I really look forward to using the space to create experimental nights of Performances and Art, as well as playing around with deconstructing how we interact, by playing in the environment and facilitating "Creative Self Exploration".

------------------
As for the Financial report.

* We covered our expenses.
* We will have money left over for the community development fund
* We were able to offer small honorariums to all 50 contributing Artists

Of the Artists that have been contacted so far some have donated their honorariums back to the Community Development Fund.

We've changed around the share structure a little to more adequately reflect the input of members to this community project.

* All artists who've donated their honorarium are receiving an extra 100 shares.
* The Artists that paid for their tickets will receive and extra 50.

---
After we have settled out all the Artists, Shares and Expenses, I will post an accounting of the event to the Burn BC website.

----------

I am super proud of us, and grateful for the support and input of all the people who've been a super catalyst to Burn BC.
This was a glorious inaugural event that, has thrust us by leaps and bounds much closer to The Cascadia Burn.

With sincere Peace, Love, & Gratitude,
<.o0o.>

First off....

Thanks for showing up, and please invite your circles to participate in this project.
Next.

I'd like to Award the first three members of the Burn BC yahoo group with recognition.
In order of appearance.

1: Fish
2: Squishelle
3: Sinja

Rock on!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Now to the 1st official (and very appropriate) post of this list.
I've already planned to attend this and recommend it to all the peeps.
I also totally encourage your circles to attend.

Cheers,
((**))
Hey peeps~

If you somehow don't already know about it, I really recommend Earthdance
this Saturday. This is noon-7pm in Stanley Park at third beach. The 11th
annual, this global event has grown to connect 350 cities and towns in 60
countries--all dancing together, synchronized with the intention of
promoting peace. 4pm is the global linkup, when all Earthdance events
partake in the prayer for peace. This is really quite beautiful and
affirming to take participate in. Lots of joyous folks spreading the
vibrations in community space. And it's free. This year's theme is water.

The Vancouver Earthdance is in its 6th year of stewardship by Tribal
Harmonix. This year, I have the sweet honour of playing the slot with the
Prayer for Peace for the first time. I also recommend checking out
Waterjuice from San Fran, kool psy-hop/downtempo/trance. Master
percussionist Pepe Danza is also a very good incentive to get it early.
Here's the link for more info.
