"I miss the closet. Homosexuals, not to speak of the rest of society, were far better off when social pressure forced them to hide their activities."

Re: Ron Paul on Homosexuals
Wed, January 23, 2008 - 10:00 AMYou, Phoo, are obviously not "for Ron Paul"
It's already understood that the "Ron Paul Political Report" was not written by Ron Paul, nor overseen by him during this time when he returned to his medical practice.
Ron supports the right of homosexuals to marry, and to serve in the Military
The attacks are nonsense which rely on outright falsehoods.
It's no wonder why the establishment is attacking Paul. But I DO wonder, what's YOUR motivation, Sir? -

Re: Ron Paul on Homosexuals
Wed, January 23, 2008 - 1:12 PMThis is the SECOND time you've quoted this newsletter, NOT written by him, and NOT read by him. Ron Paul has never said, or done, anything similar before, or since that newsletter was released that even slightly reflects those views. In fact he's done and acted very much the opposite of the statements made in that newsletter. Just look back at your snide remarks when you feel the brunt of this oncoming recession, (and that's just for starters.) -

Re: Ron Paul on Homosexuals
Wed, January 23, 2008 - 3:34 PMCould you show me one of my "snide remarks"?
If it is true that Ron Paul never even READ any of the reports that bear his name, published over the course of many years, that at very least, shows terrible irresponsability on his part. Not a good quality in a president, I would think.
It is not a case of one or two crazy "staffers" that slipped something into Ron's newsletter when he wasnt looking but a long history (since 1978 in publications like
"Ron Paul's Freedom Report" "Ron Paul Political Report" "The Ron Paul Survival Report" and "The Ron Paul Investment Letter") of Lunatic rants, rightwing "John Birch Society" style conspiracy theories, racism, bigotry and intolerance.

Re: Ron Paul on Homosexuals
Wed, January 23, 2008 - 3:43 PMCould you show me where Ron Paul states that he supports "right of homosexuals to marry, and to serve in the Military"
I havn't seen this.
He has said he was against a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage nationwide, but this is not the same thing as supporting the "right of homosexuals to marry"
He would allow the individual states to pass laws banning Gay marriage, and has even introduced legislation that would remove the right to appeal these state laws to the federal government. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_the_People_Act -

Re: Ron Paul on Homosexuals
Thu, January 24, 2008 - 9:23 AMI am not surprised you haven't seen his stance on these issues, Phoo. They're not spreading his message through the mainstream, so it only reaches those who seek it. Ask and you shall receive. But perhaps, find out the facts before spreading falsehoods.
Marriage:
In debate, Paul was asked why he did not agree with hi Republican colleagues on a constitutional ammendment defining marriage. Paul says, "All voluntary associations, whether they be economic or social, should be protected under the law."

Further, in a 20/20 interview with John Stossell (which was only made available online and not aired on television), he elaborates more on the issue saying, "Gay couples can do whatever they want. In fact, I'd like to see all governments out of the marriage question."

Earlier in 2007, during an EXCELLENT inverview at google, Paul states that he doesn't want to interfere in the free association of two individuals in a social, sexual, and religious sense. When asked directly if he was supportive of gay marriage Paul responded "I am supportive of all voluntary associations and people can call it whatever they want."

Military Service:
In debate, Paul was asked about the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, stating, ". . . every individual should be treated the same way. So if there is homosexual behavior in the military that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. But if there's heterosexual behavior that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. So it isn't the issue of homosexuality."

Paul elaborated on this during the aforementioned interview at Google, stating that he would not discharge troops for being homosexual if their behavior was not disruptive.

The individual is the greatest minority - not any one group. Preserving the liberty of the individual is the surest way to preserve the liberty of people in ALL groups. Dr. Paul, from a public representative standpoint, views others as individuals, and not members of a group. And he's very clear that the rights of every individual are naturally inherent - not granted to us because of our belonging to any group.
