Cruelty.

None of us have heard from Deb (most likely because she has been accused of a crime and is not wanting to incriminate herself) about the laptop.

I want to say that I think the big tribe's membership is being truly unbelievably cruel to her. The gossip about how much Caleb hated her. The accusations that he killed himself to get away from her. Why say it out loud in a public forum? To what end? True or not, some things never need to be said. Why do I feel I'm watching a small town getting the witch burning pyre ready?

As somebody else pointed out in the big tribe thread Deb's already going to have to live with the replay of that final moment for the rest of her life. No crime, trespass, or annoyance she may have committed against Caleb is worthy or that punishment.

And now, as Linty has stated in her last post, some of the people participating in this witch hunt are themselves crazy. She even suggested that Deb had to "escape" from frog pond to avoid physical harm.

    Witch hunt indeed.

    Have these people no shame?

The man we all loved is dead folks. Hurting, attacking, harming, Deb is not going to bring him back.

don't put words into my mouth

Deb didn't "escape" as YOU suggested; she stayed the night into the wee hours of the next morning

Calebs friends are angry....Deb chose to bring this mess public by posting lies online.

The way she describes the events of that night is eerie b/c she seems in high spirits...it's like she's discussing a play her grandchildren were in.

You're right, I should have gone back and looked up exactly what you said before I used quotation marks:

        What you actually said:

"I was commenting that this mess is going to get uglier if she doesn't come through this time.
        Lawyers, police..... crazy friends.

The fact that Deb made it out of Frog pond should be enough assurance that no one would hurt her, but

I am kind of worried. "

          see, much better : )

She shared space with many of Calebs friends that night...friends that knew about the computer and she enjoyed herself enough to stay.
          No harm done.
The computer is still missing as is she.

AND I'm done communicating with you 1durphul....done talking about this.

Thanks Linty. Let's talk about something else some other time.

I can hardly wait for the apologies.

I was not allowed to comment on this situation until it was resolved and instead watched as the burning man community tripped over itself to accuse me of some wrongdoing or other. I understand that we all grieve differently but accusing me of hurting Caleb or stealing his computer is beyond the pale.

As for Frog Pond, I wonder how any of you would react to a potentially rambunctious event with guns and fireworks when the only thing you really want to do is go to sleep or be somewhere alone for a few hours to grieve. After the misery of the Reno memorial, I could hardly expect to be excited about going to Frog Pond. The reason I went was to meet some of Caleb's friends from Gerlach and Winnemucca who wanted to share their stories.

I am still in shock from the events of Caleb's death. If I happened to smile at a story someone told me about Caleb, does that make me ghoulish? Not all grieving is tears, sometimes it is the delightful sharing of a memory or a hug.

As for getting any kind of apology from people who cruelly made accusations when I could not address the situation (based on legal advice), I expect hell will freeze over first but at least they have self-identified.

I'm glad to hear you have been cleared by your lawyer to discuss all of these matters.

Once I saw the vipers nest you had been dropped into by Caleb's "friends" I knew that as a smart woman you would be following the advice of a lawyer.
