I saw this thread over at the BM main tribe. bm.tribe.net/thread/d022...b744243affd4
I'm not in there except as a lurker... but I thought it was interesting. It is my opinion that the excellent moderatorship of Elaine, Rhino, and Bobzilla has actually resulted in the slow down of that Tribe.

Re: BM main tribe.
Sat, July 11, 2009 - 2:19 PMFor me it was that whole Moist Pup to BEER fiasco that kept me away for a few months. Don't get me wrong, I'm cool with BEER ;) Hell, I even love drinkin the stuff. But it got so off of Burning Man and so wrapped up in flame wars, socks etc that it wasnt very interesting to me. So, I just kept my ass over on eplaya. Now, as the steam starts picking up towards the burn, I notice that the threads are really starting to gravitate back towards the proper topics, such as BACON.

Re: BM main tribe.
Fri, July 17, 2009 - 11:04 PMThe real problem is not the moderation of the tribe (IMHO) but the gatekeeping; i.e. you have to meet some unstated standard to get in to the tribe. This goes WAY beyond moderating into choosing who is worthy of being part of the 'community'. It's the farthest thing from radical inclusion. No exclusionary club can create what an inclusive and acceptive society can experience. A canyon of echos will teach you nothing. -

Sun, July 19, 2009 - 12:07 PMI agree, but unfortunately tribe hasn't created a way for moderators to remove somebody and prevent them from returning... So there has to be an application process for that tribe.
