Bobzilla here, Station Manager of BMIR, Burningman Information Radio, 94.5 FM on the playa.

What is BMIR ?

BMIR is the BMORG’s radio station. The permit with the BLM states that Burningman must provide a radio station in case any emergency information needs to get out to the city. But that’s not all we do………….BMIR is your 24/7 source for music, news, artist interviews, madness and more. We are located right in Center Camp, just to the left of Playa Info. Come on by and say hello. Come and hang out. We have a nice shaded lounge area with several comfy couches for you to rest your bones. We have DJ’s who are on the air late into the night so there is almost always someone around. There are usually several people around as much of the station staff camps right there.

Why Listen to BMIR?

In the case of an emergency, or severe weather, tune into BMIR for official instructions on what to do. Listen to BMIR to find out what’s going on in the city. If there is anything you need to know, like what time will the man burn, what time does the man close to people so they can get it ready for the burn, etc. BMIR is where you want to go for the official info right from the BMORG.

Listen online before you leave for BRC.-

We will be streaming at www.BMIR.org starting sometime on Thursday August 27th (maybe even late Wednesday) and simulcast on www.ShoutingFire.com com during the entire event. So while you are at home getting ready and packing, tune in on the internet and find out how the city is coming together, what the weather is like, before you get there.

If you can’t join us on the playa this year, we’ll be streaming during the entire event. Many people tell us that listening to BMIR made them feel like they were part of the event even though they could not be there.

Start trying to tune in when you reach Gerlach. If you’re sitting in a big line of cars at the gate, tune in, well keep you entertained and informed.

Tune in During Exodus –

As soon as the Temple burns on Sunday we will start bringing you up to date information on Exodus. We will tell you when it’s a good time to leave the city, how long it will take you to get from the city past the gate top the highway. We bring you this information all day Monday, the 7th as well.

Promote your camps events on BMIR Come by and record a PSA

Is your camp having an event, do want BRC to come by your camp and hang out? Do you have a performance that you want people to participate in?

Every day during the event, from 12N to 5PM we are open for you to come by to record your public service announcements, come on by and record a PSA. We’ll play it and let the rest of Black Rock City know about it. We have a staff of seasoned volunteers ready to help you create your announcement.

OR record your announcement at home before you get to the playa

Many camps create PSA way before they get to the playa and bring us a CD. Or you can email us your announcement before 8/25. Please submit PSA’s in MP3 format

You can email them to jkanizzle@shoutingfire.com or Bobzilla@Burningman.com

Now if you’d like to create something ahead of time, but don’t really know how to, we’ve got you covered.

JKanizzle our audio production guru has put together a video that shows you how to download and install free audio recording software and how to use it to make your PSA complete with music and sound effects. It’s about 23 minutes long and is a really great tutorial. You can view it at :

www.veoh.com/browse/vide...79838g5przNm

The BMIR Daily Cocktail Party –

Everyday day during the event at 5PM, we have a cocktail party featuring a special guest. Want to meet the artists who are building the Temple? Want to meet the Flaming Lotus Girls? Come on by. We’re still firming up the schedule but we’ll post it here soon and we’ll be announcing it on the air as well. Come by for a drink!

Tune in for Your Morning Bobzilla

I’d be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to plug my own show. I do the morning show every day on the playa from 730A to 10A because no one else is crazy enough to get up that early. If you’re just getting home after a long night out, I’ll chill you out and if you’re just getting up, I’ll ease you into the day. I have tons of special guests stopping by all week long and will give you weather information. If there is anything HUGE that happens in the outside world that you just really should know about, I’ll tell you. Start your day with me, come by have coffee, we’ll talk.

See you on the playa!
