Advice - don't take just the necessities to survive.
By the end of the week... the thought of eating more canned fruit or veggies was nauseating. We bought ice everyday, so there were many chilled items that we could have brought that would have stayed fresh much longer than I originally expected.
Here is the beginning of my shopping list for this year based on helpful posts I have read here and the knowledge I have gained from a rough first year:
Turkey Jerky
Beef Jerky
Lentil Soup - made beforehand, lentil soup will stay good under minimal refrigeration
Cup o noodles - for salt needs
Chips and salsa - someone at camp had this last year... soooo good
Quesadillas –canned crab meat, havarti
Hummus
Dashboard nachos
Tasty bites
Boxed wine - equivalent of 4 bottles of wine.. less trash, - Does anyone know of a decent brand that does boxed wine?
Steak from Costco - frozen pre marinated and fabulous
Instant mashed potatoes
Pre-made spaghetti and garlic bread, freeze before we leave
Bacon - because i got none last year
Pancake mix or eggs - to make early in the week
anyway... happy hunting.
