Re: CURRENT WEATHER ALERT / WARNING!
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 8:27 PMThis is the same "holded up" post that has been going around tribe for a couple of days. It seems to have been written during the long dust storm that happened pretty much all day on Sunday, though there were a few shorter ones on Saturday too. Those were really windy days and apparently it's been less windy since then. Nonetheless, it is super dusty and it takes less wind to get the dust in the air. A crew member of Dan Das Man's art piece mentioned the wind was pretty typical over the last week with afternoon winds of 20mph and sometimes stronger, but definitely not weeks and weeks of whiteouts like this post implies. So yeah, its gonna be dusty and there will probably be whiteouts, but no, it's not likely that the entire event will be like this. -

Re: CURRENT WEATHER ALERT / WARNING!
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 9:06 AMApparently there are also sand dunes out there that can be a bit dangerous when you run into them on your bike at night when you can't see them. Everyone pay attention and embrace the dust! :-) -

Re: CURRENT WEATHER ALERT / WARNING!
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 8:22 PMNot to be a skeptic, but I hear this every year... Windy and dusty? What are the odds???? -
-
Re: CURRENT WEATHER ALERT / WARNING!
Fri, August 24, 2007 - 2:44 PMSand dunes??? Where are those? Beyond the trash fence? I don't think I'll be worrying too much about that ... -

Re: CURRENT WEATHER ALERT / WARNING!
Sun, August 26, 2007 - 5:31 PMActually, the ruts can cause a problem... They cause sand buildup after a windstorm... So, when you are casually peddling across dry flat ground, the tire ruts and sand buildup can catch your tires abruptly... Just be aware.
