I'm a BM Virgin, working like a mad woman to make it to BM 2010. I realised that wearing my prescription eyeglasses are probably not optimal with the dust. Are there any goggles that work over eyeglasses? I'm not completely blind w/o them, but everything is awful fuzzy. I appreciate all the great advice that's out there! :)

I wear glasses but what I've found is that if it's bad enough to wear goggles, then you can't see anything around you anyway.
I put my glasses into a soft caring case that zips shut (that I keep in a small back pack with water and a dust mask) then I put my regular goggles on.

Re: Eyeglasses & Goggles
Mon, November 9, 2009 - 10:28 AMahhhh.... dust protection... you'll find burners are all over the map on this one...
I'm of the camp prepare for the worst, hope for the best...
Last year, BMIR gave weather info daily, which guided me as to what dust protection to carry with me...
Sometimes a bandana is all that may be needed...
But I also am prepared to exist out on the playa all day in a severe dust storm...
I bought these military goggles 3 burns ago for $70, and they are still in great shape:

They fit over eyeglasses fine, are comfortable and indestructable...
For a respirator, I go to Home Depot & get a dual filter painter's mask...
With the dual filter, you can build a camp, sweat, and still breathe easily in a severe dust storm...
Instead of hiding in your tent...
Of course, you DO look like a creature from a Star War's movie... he he...
Just my 2 cents...
