Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Wed, June 24, 2009 - 10:49 PMThat is good news!
IPA (India Pale Ale) is the kind of beer you want to drink on the playa.
It was specially designed by the British to taste good at warm temperatures, such as India.

Wed, July 1, 2009 - 1:12 PMNot an ad - just generally excited thats there's a company that makes a great variety of decent beers in a can. I've had enough Boddingtons for this lifetieme.
Rest assured no one will go thirsty!

Is it that you think glass isn't allowed on the playa, or do you just prefer beer in cans?

Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 1:10 PMI strongly prefer beers in bottles!!
On the playa, its strictly a volume issue. Cans are more compact to bring/carry around and DEFINITELY easier to haul out.

Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 1:23 PMAdditional Info :
Cans require less energy to ship and use more recycled and less virgin materials than glass. Cans can be recycled many times in their lifetime. Cans get colder quicker, are lighter to carry, and crush easily to be packed in and out of the wilderness.
The initial release of AVBC cans will be limited to Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema, and Poleeko Gold Pale Ale. -

Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 9:04 PMOK, I'll buy that.
Except, glass can be recycled nearly infinitely holds the cold a bit longer than aluminum and beer plain tastes better out of glass : ).
In my own often incorrect opinion anyways.

Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Thu, July 2, 2009 - 8:06 AMuse a beer koozy/ insulated sleeve to keep your beer cold. or...you can drink it faster, as to not warm up. -

Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Sun, July 5, 2009 - 2:19 PMIncidentally, any brand of India Pale Ale is a wise choice for the playa, or India, or Africa, or anywhere hot without refrigeration.
It's just that this is the first American microbrew beer that I have heard about that is an IPA, =and= comes in cans. I am from Canada, and yes we also have IPA beer in cans. However, I don't think these cans would make it to the playa.
Glass bottles are verboten on the playa because if and when they break, it's a huge MOOP mess. Beer such as lager, if it gets warm, tastes about as good as cat urine smells. India Pale Ale is the only beer that the British army could drink after being stored for six months to a year without refrigeration, and wouldn't cause a mutiny.
I'm just wondering if they sell this AVBC in Boise, Idaho. -

OK, I know james and he isn't often mistaken so I think to myself, "Can I have gone for 9 years and completely missed the NO GLASS ON THE PLAYA rule?"
Me, I just don't moop.
Seriously, help me out here.

Re: Great Playa Beer News - Cans coming to AVBC in July!!
Fri, July 10, 2009 - 2:01 PMawesome!
But....how much? I've seen six packs of canned beer (such as Caldera brewing company) for $12.
I don't care if there is gold flakes in that, I'm not paying $12 for a six pack of cans.
