That is to say goggles that fit over a pair of glasses. Looking for what works; anyone got a recommendation?

Re: Goggles over glasses??
Mon, August 4, 2008 - 10:48 PMI would think those dopey goggles from high school chemistry would suffice. I think they're pretty easy to find... like a hardware store or Wal-Mart or the illustrious Internet. Or...
Really tight-fitting swimming goggles to go UNDER the glasses? I have no clue if it would work, but it sounds like an idea. TYR makes a style called Socket Rockets that are very low profile. I work at a Big 5 and we carry them. Just try it in the store. Or any other sporting goods store, I'd think.

Re: Goggles over glasses??
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 9:17 AMYou might try some snow skiing goggles also , Lots of skiers wear glasses and they should be a good fit.
Otherwise the military sand wind dust goggles ought to be just as good or better , being specifically designed for
that type of environment.

Re: Goggles over glasses??
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 9:11 PMI have used ski/snowboard goggles for the past two years, and they work great. You want to find a model that is listed as "OTG" (stands for "Over The Glasses"). These have a bit more clearance for your glasses and wont push them up against your nose. you can often find these on sale, since it is the wrong season for ski gear.
my quick search turned up a bunch in the $29 to $50 price range. you might luck out on Craigslist or something. just make sure the foam isn't falling apart. (the foam around the face is made of something that automatically self destructs at 5 years so you are forced to buy new ones.)
get the cheapest ones you can find... the dust and the activity will scratch the lenses to hell, so you won't want to use them for skiing after Burning Man. Some of the popular models are
Smith Monashee (campmor dot com has these for $29.97 right now)
Bolle X9 (campmor has these for $39, or $49 for the cool mirrored ones!)
Scott Heli or Scott Storm or
There are also Motocross (motorcycle) goggles
Scott 87

Re: Goggles over glasses??
Fri, August 8, 2008 - 10:15 AMYes! These work great! They were recommended to me a few years ago on Tribe from other people who wore glasses.
Big Ben goggles. tinyurl.com/8f6ab (You can also google "Big Ben Goggles" & you may be able to find them for cheaper).
They have removable lenses. I bought the clear and smoke which was wonderful for daytime dust storms, so I'd still have some sun blockage. They fit and felt wonderful, I highly recommend them!!

i use these for 6 years now..
i took a grinder to an old set of prescription glasses -- and fit them inside ( don't mix up left and right and top is top of your precrip lens) -- and wala -- cool googles for less than 10.00 and a hour of time
the #5 shade is green and everything looks sureal -

Re: Goggles over glasses??
Wed, November 11, 2009 - 12:04 PMupdate -- for 70.00 i had a pair of grade 6 ( apparently the darkest shade for normal wear) - sun glass lenses in my prescription inserted in the goggles...
and they are just super
cost 75.00
disadvantage -- welding goggles lake peripheral vision -

Re: Goggles over glasses??
Sun, November 15, 2009 - 7:38 PMI just took a decent pair of Ski goggles and threw them over my glasses, worked great. Most of the googles that have padding for the face about 1/2" to 1" will go over your goggles.
