Any suggestions on how to return hair to it's pre-playa state?
It's been itchy, straw-like, and oily since I've been back all at the same time.
Help.
Thanks and love.

Re: After Burn Hair
Fri, September 7, 2007 - 11:10 AMI had to wash the shit out of my hair (it just touches my shoulders) and conditioned it as much too.
The first couple of times, I'd wash it at least twice before conditioning. Then lots of brushing.
Good luck! -

Fri, September 7, 2007 - 12:02 PMYep, LOTSA conditioner! Try the old fashioned VO5 Hot Oil--or make your own from olive oil. (or any non petroleum based oil) Let it sit for awhile and wash it out with a good shampoo and condition as usual.

Re: After Burn Hair
Fri, September 7, 2007 - 4:58 PMEh my hair is okay. Aside from being extremely hard to brush the first time. I had it in a hair sock and it never saw the dust. Out of all, what, like 3 or 4 feet of hair I dont have to cut an inch off.

Fri, September 7, 2007 - 7:57 PMmine actually isnt that bad either, I am quite surprised. I conditioned the crap out ot it and then I used anti-snap syrem on it. I need a trim, but that is almost as much do to the synging from my fire hooping as it is the dust!

Re: After Burn Hair
Sat, September 8, 2007 - 8:20 AMWhen I first got back home, I washed it and slept with conditioner in it for the first 2 nights....do it early in the night so the cake/conditioned hair has a chance to dry so you dont get a stiff neck from all the moisture the hair holds in....it stays wet for a long time when you leave conditioner in. Maybe a haircut also, to cut all the fried ends off.

Re: After Burn Hair
Mon, September 10, 2007 - 2:36 PMI got two wonderful tips from Angie at Astral Hair Wash. I think she was a volunteer washer, so if anyone knows her, please tell her thanks for me.
She said for long hair like mine to comb out the post-burn tangles while wet and covered with conditioner. Also, to put a bit of rosemary oil on my brush. Those two things have saved me - I thought I'd have to cut it all off!

Re: After Burn Hair
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 5:41 PMDeep conditioning plus leave-in conditioner will help a lot.
The other poster who recommends rosemary oil is right on--it's good for the hair. And get a trim. An inch or two can do a lot to reduce the broken-end straw feel.

Re: After Burn Hair
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 2:10 PMI use either some K-PAk Reconstructor by Joica or that 3-Minute Miracle stuff by the Australian shampoo company.
After washing your hair and leaving it towel-damp, apply some of either of these products in your hair, distributing well, even to the ends.
Leave in.
My hair is usually normalized pretty quickly.

Hair update
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 10:18 PMI did the "rinse and repeat the hell out of it approach" one friend suggested.
Even left the conditioner solid on my head for about 3 hours (all I could stand)
All better. :)
Not just the same as preplaya but it looks like I don't have to get it cut or anything like that.
My scalp still itches from time to time.
Now if I could only get ride of this blasted tan I'll be all back to normal..."-ish"...
Thanks for all the help. <3

Re: After Burn Hair
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 12:52 PMI have to say that on and off the playa, dr bonners pepperment soap works wonders at cleaning playa dust off of you, out of your hair and body, and soaking your feet in while there. Use a good conditioner and leave it in with a towel wrap for about 20-30 min then brush thru. do this for 2 days, -

Re: After Burn Hair
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 12:54 PMps ..the reason dr. bonners works is because the peppermint disintegrates/deteriorates dirt, unlike soap or shampoo just cleans it off.
