uses for dead glow bracelets

a topic in 2008 Virgins sparked this idea. Someone asked about gifting, which brought up the LED vs. Glow debate. I'd rather see people buy some glow bracelets if they're going to gift illumination. They can be used for everything from bike and tent markers, to people and bag illumination. Since they can wrap around or through most things they are more useful than a standard stick.

Which led me to the belief that glow bracelets (not sticks) can actually be used in a number of ways, even when the glow is gone. Making them more eco-friendly than glow sticks or dollar blinkies that can't/won't be reused*. Here are two ideas I had right off the top of my head for reusing dead glow bracelets.

1) fixing the broken toilet paper dispenser in the potties when the glow has worn out (I can't tell you how many times I've done this)

2) wrap colored tape around them in different designs (like a hula hoop) and still use them as bracelets when they're done (which you can then re-gift to fellow burners)

What can you think of? How can we reduce and reuse?

Make a giant spiral coil from them, starting smallish, and growing large. The smallest part would fit over your hips to form the waistline of the skirt, the largest would be the bottom. Use bright tape to tape them together so the connectors don't pop off. Maybe string to hold the spiral together vertically so it doesn't unwind. Cover the whole thing in a sheer fabric or maybe ribbons woven thru the rings.

        oh, another thought...

a lightweight carabiner clip: loop it through the zipper pull or strap on your hydration pack, and use it to keep items handy like sanitizer or sunscreen.

or attach some together vertically with zipties, making a kind of African inspired necklace.
