I just put in an order yesterday with them. Just checked my bank balance, and the payment has been submitted, so I'll let you know when it arrives.

Looks like they have some good stuff, I got some of those cold cathode car blacklights to illuminate my art car - I hear so much good feedback on cold cathode!

Are the cold cathode lights durable? Are they glass or plexiglass? Will they stand up to the playa?

The outer tube is plexiglass or similar, the inner tube is glass. Moop isn't an issue, but if you really abuse them, they stop working.
They're reasonably rugged, but will not tolerate a lot of flexing since the inner tube is glass, and extreme vibration will kill 'em as well.

I melted holes in the outer tube, squirted in silicone seal and enclosed the whole thing in some Lexan tube for some damage prone areas on Roboshaw...

It seems to me that all the Burner-operated vendors tend to get good reviews. Coincidence? I think not.

Here in Boise we're lucky enough to have WorldAglow, AKA CoolLightWest. I use them and pick it up myself. I can even stay to cut and solder it there if I want -- how cool is that?

I ordered stuff last year and it shipped promptly, was packaged expertly, was good quality and has definitely lasted...not like th solder joints I did myself!

      have fun!

I am so glad I found this tribe! From reading the good reviews, I decided to check out VibeLights because I would like to have some more EL wire this year.

I emailed them with tons of questions and got quick, informative responses. They were very patient with all my beginnger questions and offered advice on what might be the best way for me to go. (I'm not making my own but getting the EZ connect kits.)

    =)

      Well,

I am having the oppisite experence with VibeLights.com. I gat an e-mail saying they are having back order issues. I tried to call them and they have their machine on. I tried to e-mail then and they do not reply back.

I leave for the Playa in less then 16 days from today. I really need the EL Wire to make the sign for Ice Camp-9. I can only hope now.

I ordered from them last year and all went smoothly. This year I used coolneon for a project that wound up being put on the back burner (maybe for decom)... They were great too.

All the burner-specific technologies, you want to give yourself some lead time. For future reference, you should plan to have your EL wire orders (as well as aluminet) by mid-July. Anything later and you wind up risking having to expedite the shipping, or worse finding yourself on backorder which could mess up your project timetable.

What Trilo said. I happen to know that WorldAglow just received another large el-wire shipment and may be able to get something to you either on-Playa (I am happy to deliver and will arrive Monday) or by express shipment.

These guys came through for me last minute, I can't be happier. I was having a hard time reaching them at first, but they are super busy this time of year, So it's expected. They have the best prices on el wire. I give them a big thumbs up!!!

I finally got my EL Wire.

However the colors were not deep enough. Nothing like what they advertised. I will look around more for the next Burn.

order'd, got my shipment promptly and it was wrong.
email'd them twice over week and a half and no response.

                So far, they suck.
It's gonna be too late for me to rectify the situation since I leave in a week and a half.

I am so sorry this was your experience with them. Like I said, I only had one order with them and they filled it promptly.

The first order I placed with them was just a bicycle kit. It took 5 days to recieve an item that only needed to travel from Orange, CA to San Francisco, CA. I recently placed an order on 7/1/08, no order, or response to emails regarding that order as of 7/28/08. I won't be doing business with them anymore.

Well, I'm trying to do business with them...so far they've just taken my money. I placed an order on 7/24/08 and received a confirmation email with a link to click to get the tracking number. So it's been 12 days and there's still no tracking number showing, and no lights. Try to call them, all you get is voice mail. I emailed them but no reply. I'm starting to get pissed. Even the most rinky-dink ebay seller has better service and communication than these people.

Looks like some people had good experiences and others bad. For me I will go elsewhere. I personally had problens with them. Plus there are too many people who had bad experiences with VibeLite. Sort of out shadows the good.

    They suck.

I ordered a few weeks ago 8/11. Got a confirmation of my order and have been traveling and out to town for a while.

I checked the status and had to dig and dig and dig to find out it was.... "canceled". no reason given. No communication to me. No follow-up or anything.

It would have been fine if they had just said, "hey we're swamped, look elsewhere" or "we're out, good luck". But nothing. I didn't even get a confirmation that my order was cancelled.

As such...they suck and I'm without lights for my bike.

Thanks Vibelights...you did not light my way.

please help me find the mailing address for vibelights.
They have no mailing address anywhere to be found and I need to return my order.
It's a nightmare doing business with them.

Hey all, note the above 3 posts by t, catgrrl & nate are all similar, all bad reviews, all giving dates, all "3 peeps" have 0 friends and ONLY belong to this tribe.... hmmmm....

          That may be,
but google vibelights and there are plenty of bitch sessions on the way they do biz.
It's possible the 0 friends, no tribe peeps above found this on their search
as i found many places to vent and inquire in my search.

Full phone mail box so cant leave a message, dont respond to emails for months, no mailing address to be found
(which I found by the way and they are not in Orange, Ca, but Yorba Linda, ca.)
          cant return an order...
It's pure crap the way this company is run.
I went for my entire vacation without elwire this year because of them.
And I was out the cash I spent on buying from them.
I needed to return my order and use the money with another company.
          That never happend.

I dont know what there problem is, but I hope people read this and dont do biz with them.

I ordered from Cool Neon. Other than taking a bit longer then I expected, they came through great on each order I placed for the burn. I had checked out Vibe Light, but after reading so many conflicting stories about them, will just stick with Cool Neon although I may check out Coollight West.

              Sail Man,

Cool Neon is a legit business with a very good standing with the Burner Community. As for Vibe Lights... Yes some people actually got their order. Some yet even got their order right and on time. The big red flag are how many people who were dissatisfied. This is not just one or two people who has a grip with a company but many people. Besides Tribe you will find complaints on E-Playa and Yelp among other sites.

I went to Cool Neon the other day to buy some EL Wire Glasses. We got to talking about Vibe Lights. Even they said that they cheat people left and right. One story that they told me that I did not know (or confirmed) is that Vibe Lights has had name changes due to numerous costumer complaints. One thing I like about Cool Neon is that they have a solid standing in the BM community unlike Vibe Lights.

Good to hear Cross. I was happy with my orders etc, including prices. Yes, I did see alot of bitches about Vibe Light both here and on eplaya which is why I deleted them from my fav list LOL I like the plug n play stuff as I dont know how to solder (yet) and Cool Neon had a good selection. This is my first experience with el wire and I love the shit. I showed it to my older son (he's 22) and he was like, I've messed with that for years. Damn, couldnt turn pop's on to it eh LMAO
