I'm thinking about picking up a small external 120v converter to provide AC power off a solar-charged battery, but all the inverter models I've looked at have ventilation fans for cooling, and that doesn't seem very dust-friendly. Can anyone recommend a sealed inverter that uses heat sinks instead of a fan, or otherwise comment on inverter performance in such a dusty environment as the playa? Thanks for any tips.

Re: dust-friendly inverter cooling?
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 4:42 PMHow much power are you pulling? Some small inverters don't have
fans and are convection cooled.
This place might have a solution:

Re: dust-friendly inverter cooling?
Fri, July 10, 2009 - 10:21 PMI've run fan cooled inverters in the dust since 2004, and have never had a failure. I don't run them anywhere near max output, and vacuum them out each year. Very small (150 W) inverters are often just convection cooled...
