This would be SUPER useful if the playa was rainy at night.

Re: Umbrella Glow
Thu, January 29, 2009 - 4:14 PMIt rained last year after the Temple burn, but unfortunately when it rains at night on the playa it's often accompanied by gale force winds that would quickly turn your umbrella inside out! Still, it's a cool idea. How about this: replace the visible LEDs with UV ones. Then you could light up your fluorescent costume and/or body paint! (And maybe get a tan at night while you're at it.) :-) -

Thu, January 29, 2009 - 7:05 PMIf you read through the comments on this item at instructables, the idea of UV led's was brought up and there were a few sources linked for suppliers.
Hope to see it somewhere on the playa this year!
I would make it, but I haven't yet figured out how to make it hover over me.
Hand's free, baby!!

Re: Camp Shade & Solar LED Lighted Umbrella
Sun, February 22, 2009 - 5:21 AMThey sell things like this in the stores, but so much cooler to make your own!
Also, if you make these things solar powered (or even if you didn't) they would ROCK as the interior (exterior) lights for a tent, yurt or hexayurt.
