Mindbender combines live electronic dance music and painting with new media and progressive cultural ideas. The result is an integrated sense of purpose, meaning, belonging and celebration. The intention of Mindbender is to create a container to reconnect with our global tribe, and to witness larger patterns of positive change during this epoch of stress and transformation. We seek to bridge the personal isolation which contributes to the apathy, political helplessness and tuning-out that many suffer from today. We continue to create inspiring cultural events that open the psyche to broader philosophical and psychological views, while celebrating with a community that shares this desire.

Personal empowerment is created when we experience a sense of belonging and participation within archetypal rituals involving costumes, dance, storytelling and visual art. Once internalized, this sense of empowerment provides the energy to move forward, connecting kindred spirits.  This personal empowerment is the necessary first step which makes political and cultural activism possible and enjoyable.

Artists, musicians and presenters will be sharing their message and how it reflects an underlying order and interconnectivity found everywhere in people… a global unified tribe. Our desire is to be an alternative culture node radiating to various venues and local communities throughout the United States. We are also formulating plans to host several events throughout the United States in the future.

In January 2007, coinciding with the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, we created the first Mindbender.  This event integrated the various disciplines of leading-edge film, consciousness studies, and discussion of individual and collective trance states as they affect ecological awareness. Later in the evening, hundreds celebrated with dance to renowned electronica DJ, Bassnectar.  Featured guests included writer Daniel Pinchbeck, filmmaker Rod Mann, noted author and professor Dr. Ralph Metzner, the visionary artist Carey Thompson, and Stacia Butterfield (the director of Grof Transpersonal Training).

We’re creating Mindbender 2008, held January 18, 2008 at Club Suede in Park City, Utah. This event coincides with the Sundance Film Festival in Park City and the International Outdoor Retailers Show in Salt Lake City.

For Mindbender 2008, our guest list includes:

Eschatology (“the end of times”) is a documentary feature film which will be released adjunct with a software/online platform in the fall of 2008.  The film Eschatology will be interviewing three categories of the human family and how the perspectives of the current period in time relate to the worldview of the whole.  The first will be major world religions, in depth perspectives from Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim faiths.  The second section will focus through the perspective of science/technology with interviews on global warming, mass extinction, sustainable solutions, economics, and the most recent studies in mind/brain research.  The third section will be looking at the indigenous perspectives and how the many Cosmo-visions and worldviews of the Navajo, Hopi, Mayan, Shuar, Shipibo, Huichol, Aboriginal, and others; perceive this time in history and envision our challenges and solutions.  We will look through the perspectives of faith/vision and mystic, the instruments of the microscope/telescope, and the ecological wisdom coming from the sacred plants.   The software program offers a solution to the dismembered psyche in the postmodern world by providing a user-friendly interface for developing a daily practice of intention, meditation, compassion, gratefulness, and action.
