Re: INDIAN NIGHT: MONDAY 1/23/06 WHO ELSE IS COOKING?????
Thu, January 12, 2006 - 12:24 PMI just joined Tribe. I recently accepted the role of food coordinator for the Indian Dinner. Anyone who wishes to cook an Indian dish please let me know at neilanessa@msn.com. If you don't know what to make, or the whole Indian food thing is a complete mystery, let me know and I will track down recipes and send you a link or text. Include your comfort level wrt this lovely cuisine. Alot of dishes require a food processor. Some are mega-complex, others are as simple as mixing yoghurt with veggies and spices. Alu Gobi sounds delicious. Potatoes and Cauliflower YUMMY!!! FYI, I searched google for AG and found a site with Indian cuisine recipes: great-swad.tripod.com/indianc...d40.html
That should be a good source for all who are searching, I also searched for Madhur Jaffrey (Awesome Indian cookbook writer):
tinyurl.com/7dvam
Yes Clam, have your friend bring a Chicken dish of choice (the more food the better, the more variety the better -You know we aren't all a bunch of Garlic Sweating Vegans around this little community). Probably should make at least double or triple recipe, I think this Indian feast will be well attended!!! How many folks are on board for doing the cooking thing?
I believe I shall craft a Pork Vindaloo -SPICY hot and sour Pork!!
Peace Out, Trance Plant

Re: INDIAN NIGHT: MONDAY 1/23/06
Sat, January 14, 2006 - 11:43 AMHi Ms Fire,
I am still wondering who is doing food!!!
Ideally we figure out what people want to make,
then do a list, shop and get enough for the whole menu.
-Problem would be getting them distributed to people-
I am in LA til Mon Afternoon. Will be coming straight over
to DeepFry/Angioplasty night after dropping my bag at home.

I'm turning an ancient 38 and will be bringing a few sari's so I can teach people how to wrap them properly... -

Re: INDIAN NIGHT: MONDAY 1/23/06
Thu, January 19, 2006 - 5:08 PMOh Heather my dear, please don't say that (ancient 38).
You will make myself and several of our Tribe feel
OLD!! I have a twin sister in LA and we have agreed
our age to be 32 and a few. On the other hand
I can keep up with most 24 yr olds (in almost everything)
even though I am almost twice their age!!!
BTW, absolutely love the new pic (you FOXY oldster)!

Re: INDIAN NIGHT: MONDAY 1/23/06
Fri, January 20, 2006 - 4:42 PMKaren,
Do your homework on Sunday ;-) I'll be doing my cooking on Sunday
since I have a new job starting on Monday and need to wend my way
back from Kirkland to CapHill on 3 busses ;-(
>perhaps palak paneer if I can find any paneer anywhere....
Paneer is actually fairly simple (I've never made it but here is the jist:):
Bring a half gallon of milk to a boil, add lemon juice enough to get the
curds and whey to separate. Strain through a cheesecloth,
wrap that in a towel and put a brick on it for a couple of hours ;-)
