This was my first flipside, and I had such an awesome time that I'm already thinking about next year.
I have some ideas for a theme camp, but I would need help to execute it. Besides this tribe, what are some other resources for finding people who might be interested in putting together a theme camp for next year? I know there's the lists associated with burningflipside.com, and there's a (really quiet) group on facebook, but are there other sites where people virtually hang out and talk shop about putting together a theme camp?
Thanks!

Re: Flipside lists/threads/discussion groups?
Wed, May 27, 2009 - 5:32 PMI could be wrong, but I get the impression that most theme camps coalesce around a nucleus of people who already know each other and have a shared idea for a camp. There also isn't a large number of new camps added from year to year (or old camps fading out).
That said, this group right here or the Austin Chat list would probably be the places to start the discussion, although you'd probably want to segue into a dedicated list once you found your core group. If you want to talk theme-campery in general, again, this group or Austin Chat would be fine. -

Wed, May 27, 2009 - 5:53 PMHi Weazie,
Flipside was the best ever and I'm glad you were there to experience it! It was my 4rth year and first theme camp that I put together with the help of some really beautiful friends. You should do it! Bounce some ideas out, let us hear what you have up your sleeve....

Wed, May 27, 2009 - 9:37 PMOk, what kind of preverted theme camp has your brain come up with. Does Suzanne know? Can't wait to see you crazy kids again, Colorado is calling your name I think. -

Re: Flipside lists/threads/discussion groups?
Thu, May 28, 2009 - 1:47 PM1. Compete against Glamour Camp, except the camp will be called "I Stole It from the Shower." As in:
Person: "Nice shirt! Where'd you get it?"
You: "I stole it from the shower!"
2. Creepy Shower Camp. 'nuff said.
...actually, we have some other ideas. (And we have lots of friends at flipside, but they are more of the sit-around-eat-meat-and-drink (and steal-other-camps'-signs) types....)

Re: Flipside lists/threads/discussion groups?
Wed, May 27, 2009 - 10:31 PMI started a theme camp for my second flipside, and I just recruited 10 of my freinds, 6 of which had never been before, and we just rocked it out and it was awesome. Look here for ideas, but look near you for the core of your camp! You need some good solid relationships to keep the balance, beacuse group dynamics can be crazy. But yeah, go for it for sure, get yourself some inspiration, and then just suck everyone into it!

Re: Flipside lists/threads/discussion groups?
Thu, May 28, 2009 - 11:24 AMWeazie, my recommendation is to get active with your local Burn community- attend any and all events you hear about, and start making connections. It's certainly possible to build a camp with folks you don't know all that well, but it's so much more fulfilling to build something with friends!
Glad to hear you had as much fun as I did- Flipside was my first regional and I've attended it every year since. This is just the beginning!
Welcome-Homingly,
Major Tom

Sat, June 6, 2009 - 2:46 PMthere's also a officially unofficial myspace page
www.myspace.com/burningflipsidetexas
i highly recommend joining the official announcement email list (link in previous post).
we are trying to discourage reposting of event details on social-networking sites....for various reasons.
thanks!
