I'm trying to get in shape before the burn too and kind of hit a small milestone - lost 4 lbs now in 2 months. It's going excruciatingly slowly, but hopefully that means that I will keep off the weight!

The hardest thing for me has been giving up beer. I'm not stopping drinking entirely, but getting rid of the empty beer calories. Harder than I expected.

I'm trying to hit the gym three times a week. 1/2 hour of circuit training (machines) and 1/2 hour of stationary bike.

I'm taking Alli (it's a new over the counter drug that blocks fat absorption) and limiting my fat to 15 grams per meal (45 per day). I'm probably clocking in at closer to 30 grams per day.

Just eating packet of oatmeal for breakfast, microwave low fat frozen thing for lunch, yogurt for snack, and salad and plain rice for dinner. Slight variations on this, but mostly the same stuff.

I'm still looking to lose about 15 more. It's not been easy.

    Good luck!

Only thing I'd say to watch out is that those "low-fat" frozen "meals" sometimes have way too many calories for how little it fills you up sometimes.

I'm not interested in taking Alli but am interested in hearing the reaction from people who are using it. Any side effects?

Yeah, one thing I've been dealing with while dieting is hunger - our standard portions are way out of control. I'm hungry right now. Grumble.

I've heard about the bad side effects of Alli. For those of you reading, and don't know what we are talking about, let me explain. Alli is an actual fat blocker. While on it, you have to carefully monitor your fat intake because it stops fat from being absorbed and you poop it out. If you eat too much fat you will leak grease out of your ass, or have wet greasy farts. Yummy, huh?

I have not had this effect. If you keep your fat intake to less than 15 per meal (no more than 45 per day) and less than 30% of your total calories, you should be fine. I'm keeping my fat really low so I have not had accidents.

It's a gross side effect, but some people say that the fear of shitting their drawers helps them watch their fat!

good news everyone, it wont matter what you look like on playa this year, itll be so dusty, you wont be able to see anyne:P

as for hunger, try eating many small meals throughout the day. so you never get over-full, and you never have to deal with extreme hunger. youre allowed to snack, just make it healthy:)
