I'm hoping that public posting helps! I've watched other body threads, but I'm jumping in here. Please feel free to comment or to just let me ramble.
In February, shortly after my 40th birthday, I hit 155. The heaviest I've ever been without being pregnant.
Today, September 28, I'm 133. But I've been here for a month. I would really like to lose another 13 - 16 pounds. I'm 5'7", but very small boned. Even now, with a tank top tucked into my low riders, there's a roll around my waist and a bit of fat peaking around my bra straps. My hair looks good though (my daughter gave me pink streaks just before Burningman).
I work out - some. I hoop when I can and do a decent aerobic/weights combo at least twice a week. When I'm motivated, I don't miss a day! I'm a bit of a lush, but I've been cutting down and mostly cutting out completely during the week. Plus, my drink of choice is Beam and water - 60 calories per drink. Fortunately, I don't like sweets much although port and bittersweet choocolate will make me fall to my knees.
My husband took most of the pictures that I have posted - if I look back at the Christmas ones, I was around 150 then and I can really see a difference. Sometimes that doesn't help and I think that I'd rather eat what ever I want then have a cute body.
I think that my difficulty lies in that I get so much joy out of cooking and eating and indulging . . . I feel just as wicked sneaking in that nacho as I do sneaking in that flirtacious glance. I have GOT to find some really good lasting motivators!! Any suggestions?
Good luck to everyone. Moist Pup - you have only two days to GO until your start date!!!!

Re: Jeannie's Thread
Fri, September 29, 2006 - 10:24 AMYou can change the way you cook, change what you think about indulgence. Modify your recipies. Get more fresh fruits and veggies into your diet. Stay away from processed foods. I swear by the Fat Smash Diet. The cleanse really reprograms your body. I don't crave things that are unhealthy. I lost 10lbs so far and I know I have lost even more I just only have weighed myself once in the last month since starting the plan. I have eaten things off plan I just go right back to it the next day.
I acutally want to get to about 150 My starting weight was 175, after ten days I was 165. I am 5'7" but I am very muscular. Oh weight training is awesome... the more you build the more calories you burn in a state of rest. For weight loss you have to incorporate more activity into your day. Even if it is just moderate... taking a walk during your lunch break. Working out two times a week is better than nothing but you need to try for four or more for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Right now I am motivated by health. Cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes are all present in my family. I would like to be as healthy/active as possible so that I can get healthier and have a better quality of life for a much longer time.
Also I would like to get rid of that little roll I have when I sit down. :) -

Re: Jeannie's Thread
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 9:11 AM133 today - not bad considering that I splurged this weekend with crab legs and butter and lots of drinkipoos =) I'm not worried about the amount I drink, but I know that they are empty calories. I think that since I'm working out a little more regularly that's helping to balance when I do occasionally eat too much.
Your ideas are really sound, Shay. I think your advice to modify the way I cook is especially helpful. I love to cook and I can make better choices and try to broil and bake and steam rather than fry! I checked out the Fat Smash Diet and it seemed like a little too much for me. But your results are great!! Congratulations with your success. -

Re: Jeannie's Thread
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 12:11 PMThe beginning of the plan is rather strict but it loosens up as you go along. Alcohol and sodas are huge calories best to have those in moderation or not at all.
I guess Fat Smash is easy for me because I am doing it with my sister. I eat small meals so I always feel satisfied... really revs up the metabolism. -

There are a ton of sites out there with free recipies. Keep a food journal that will help you be concious of what you are consuming. Sometimes weight loss can just happen if we curb mindless eating... journaling helps you to -
