I was on low-carb and doing OK. this is better.

I'm at 220 now. I was 225 last week and 250 in 2004. I got down to about 235 with low carb and then 220 with this. right now my focus is totally on weight loss, obviously, but I'll be working on muscle tone and aerobic stuff as well soon. I totally am not doing ANY exercise and losing weight anyway. (however I was doing exercise for a while and I'm going to start up again soon purely because it feels better.)

Re: my weird diet
Wed, October 11, 2006 - 9:11 AMSo how does it work. I actually changed my eating habits and that is working wonders for me. I would like to know more about what you are doing but I just don't have the patience to really read about it because I have something that is working wonders for me. So just a brief summary would be cool. What are you doing... from that webpage it seems like a mind over matter thing. -

Re: my weird diet
Sat, October 14, 2006 - 5:31 PMno mind control involved! what I'm doing is working pretty well for me too. basically you drink a certain quantity of sugar water every day, without any tastes in your mouth for an hour before or an hour after.
the way it works is much more like hacking a computer than any form of willpower. basically, your body evolved to pack on weight during fat times and use it up during lean times. lean times for us, as defined by evolution, are pretty rare. so this same facility within our bodies ends up just accruing weight.
this system within your body is based on a set point, which is what your body uses to determine its target weight. the target weight set point comes from a subsystem which bases the set point on the relationship between calories and taste. so if you take in "tasteless" calories, this throws off the targeting system, and the more calories you trick it with, the lower it sets the target. (sugar water, even though it's sweet, still qualifies as "tasteless" for these purposes, for technical reasons I don't understand.)
so you basically have this system which, if it takes in calories with a proper taste/calorie relationship, makes you fat. feed this system calories with no taste data -- in effect, lying to your body, throwing off its analysis -- and the effects are incredible. the first night I did it, I got up the next morning and was full after half a cup of yogurt. I go to restaurants and I can't finish a complete serving. I feel stuffed halfway through. I had a big meal while on this diet, over at a family get-together -- sandwich, salad, fruit salad, lemonade, bruschetta, and several little bite-sized quiches. I fell asleep on the sofa. I could barely stay awake to drive home. in the past, I might have been full, I certainly wouldn't have lost consciousness. everybody else was wide awake.
anyway, like I say, it's pretty simple, just a cup of sugar water with an hour before and after of not eating anything. you can do it with various kinds of oil, too, like canola oil or olive oil, but I like the sugar water approach much better. the oil was kinda gross. -
